What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

India thrashing England at cricket puts me in mind of a birding trip to Norfolk!
I was into Sudoku then and the duchess wanted to do one, having not done any before. So I copied one out I was about to do and quickly explained to her the rules.

I thought that will sort her out for the evening! Imagine my surprise when she said I've finished! And I was only halfway through!
She had done it perfectly and it was much neater than my half done puzzle!
Its not right her doing that you know!! One should have the decency to lose if you are competing with your teacher! ;)

good evening all :)

4.7 today

Over to Mum's today because she says there is water seeping near the standpipe in the garden, and there is :sorry:

Mr gee dug out all around the toby for the standpipe. that recent hard frost must have sprung a joint or split the pipe. We feel a plumber coming on :( It's fortunate in that it looks like it's in a supplementary leg of the pipe and not the main water supply for Mum's house.

Whilst he was digging I trimmed bushes and raked more leaves and we managed to bonfire them before the rain came :)

Hope your day is treating you well :)

@gennepher - hugs for the egg juggling. Lovely memories well captured in today's painting, once again the reflections are very well done :)
You have my sympathy for the ' feeling the cold' and trying to get warm, I struggle with that sometimes too since being diagnosed and losing weight .

@dunelm - shame about the disappointing trip to York, it can be a lovely place :)
An effective action painting today, poor fishy ;) Is that rice paper? it has added to the watery texture effect nicely too :)

@alf_Josiah - Many Happy Returns to mrs J :)

@Muddy Cyclist - pleasing balance in your latest musical opus :)

art bit - done from a photo seen online. I don't feel I've got the water level quite right or perhaps the shadow area to the right of the far meander is throwing it off :sorry:

Thank you for the egg sympathy @geefull
And thanks for the painting compliments.

I will make sure both cat and I are warm all night tonight...he is purring like mad at the moment...

A great painting. The sky and mountains are fantastic.
It is a fine painting. The water levels look fine in my eyes...

Thank you, our next venture we have been sent is 'Buttered Peas' a tune that is fast and furious.

I like that wide open Valley running through some well painted mountains and good shadow management. I can see what you mean about water levels but probably would not have noticed if you hadn't mentioned ed it, depends on the flow direction but it could easily be a waterfall and would work well as such.

Regarding water levels I can think of many streams and rivers In Wales that from the road or path are definitely running in the wrong direction, can become very confusing.

Hugs for burst pipes.

Good Morning and 5.8 for me today. Expected lower after yesterday's achievement and a meal of Salmon and low carbs Saturday evening, but there you go.

Cold and frosty start here but lots of cloud cover so a flat light.

Keep safe be bold.

I thought it was about time I did a portrait of Popeye. I have done cartoons of him, but I don't think I have done a nice portrait of him.

So, here it is. Arthritis is affecting my hands and thumbs painfully at the mo. So I was annoyed I couldn't do the fine detail like whiskers. They were so wobbly. So, I thought, well, make use of layers in Procreate and create a different effect instead.

And it worked out better than I expected. Both wrists and thumbs have supports on them at the moment. I feel like my hands are in a straight jacket while I am trying to do this digital painting.

All the small birds are visiting my garden, Mrs Blackbird is mithering them as usual. No other blackbird dares come in my garden, front or back this year. This is most unusual. And the ravens are on my cherry trees making a racket.. They are making an awful lot of noise this year compared to previous years. I am beginning to wonder what is happening in the ancient woods where they normally reside, and nest.

The most ravens I have ever seen in one go is 5. The ravens have flown around in threes or fives the last 20 years. The other day I counted 13 on my cherry trees. They are spending the days flying between my cherry trees, an old oak tree in front of my property, and the old oak tree at the end of the road, making a racket all day long. I am wondering if they have been displaced from their usual trees in the ancient woods.

Good morning from a chilly NE Somerset where I've already been out with the overactive poodle, grabbed a copy of the Observer and chatted with a couple as Arthur sniffed the posteriors of anything and everyone within nose distance.

Spoke with our local pcso - bought her a coffee and she was telling me over the weekend they handed out 30 covid fines...can't people learn? I was incensed.

Daughter next week is going to be practising low flying - that made my heart stop for a while; probably the same if you're underneath her as she whooses by in that hulking beast of hers!

FBG this morning after a dinner of sole, spinach, greens and a big salad was a good 5.3 - the best yet.

Sid the Stinger is getting a run today on an essential journey into Bristol - in the week since he's been with me, I've only done 75 miles so we're not acquainted yet...but I need to watch his turn of speed as I've only just cleaned off 3 points for doing 36 in a 30 - and as that was Scotland, they don't do speed awareness courses, or didn't when the radar pinged me! Grrr

Boiled eggs, coffee and Serrano ham for breakkie followed by a delicious Metformin 500mg.

Have a brill Sunday all and enjoy!

Welcome to Sunday. A cold start with a grey blue flecked sky - not my kind of day. Swipey came on all 4.8 today but I could't reject that with "not my kinda reading". There may be a theme here. Lamb shoulder and significant vegetation, followed by a few pieces of keto chocolate, will hopefully be today's OMAD. The LC version briefly fills my mind with the not my kinda theme. The missing high carb enhancements and pre and post test heavily compromise God's wonders of Grace. However, Kelly Belmonte's How I talk to God is a sharp reminder that prayer is something entirely different to the hands together, eyes closed of yore. God gently talks to me, reminding me that less carbs is a better compromise than working out how much insulin or causing untold damage to God's gift down the line. Besides, lamb (no carrots and less shallots) asparagus, broccoli, roasted Romanesque and illicit normies gravy is a good second choice. If I calm it with a glass of red and much steppage it should behave. Gorgeous piece of art yesterday @geefull and loving portrait of Piopeye @gennepher . Pip Pip old toots.

Nice portrait, is he pleased withthe result?

Hug for pain, it's horrible to be limited by your discomfort.

Your garden sound like it's gearing up for an Alfred Hitchcock film set. :)

Am I safe here on Cannock Chase at 199 feet above sea level? :)

If she is East of my location RAF guys I have trained in Mountain Bike skills and leadership assure me there is nothing higher to the east of Cannock Chase until you reach the Russian Steps. So tell your daughter to keep above 199 feet and she will be fine, or rather we will be fine.

Lovely portrait and I am sure that he will like it

Good morning everyone on another promising start to the day in the dark and dangerous north
The wonder wheel of misfortune and deceit came in at 6.2 this am

A bad day at black rock yesterday - and no Spencer Tracy in sight. Slept most of the day, was in bed by 9, didn’t stir until 0730 and still feel as though I am missing out on sleep. Mrs Miggins on the other hand did 8 miles of the coastal path - same jab, same time, different result.

Art - Managed a misty morning in the park. Hope that everyone has a pleasant day. Time for koffy.

On arriving home our musical techi had sent an email of latest folk tune recording a jolly little tune from the Recorder Quartet and three guests on Melodeon, Concertina and Bass. I play Bass Recorder, Tabor, guitar and Banjo which I can't hear and Mrs MC Soprano and Treble Recorder...

Serpentin and Konfetti
Lovely music. Listened to it again this morning while relaxing with my coffee. You are all very talented.

Thank you @geefull and yes, it’s rice paper. Never mind the levels, another fine landscape. Great cloud formations.

5.1 this morning.

Yesterday evening I was really tired and cold so while watching the latest episodes of Unforgotten and Bloodlands I wrapped myself up in a really warm throw and laid down on the sofa.

Fitbit logged me as asleep. I definitely wasn't asleep as the episodes needed full concentration to follow the plots. I was lovely and toasty though.

Popeye says "Meow" @Muddy Cyclist
Thanks :)
The ravens are very cross about something, and just sent a magpie fleeing for its life. I don't need a telly, I am part of the film set...
