Good Morning and 6.7 for me today, unbelievable.:banghead:

Horse shows are taking place and went to see 8year old grandaughter jumping yesterday evening, can't say I saw much social distancing and no evidence of masks, OK it was a very rural location in beautiful parkland and fortunately not too busy and we found a place with enough space to keep away from those who think it's all over. Nice to see grandaughter enjoying her pony and activities starting up but I do wonder what the future holds for the spread of Covid.

Off to the Early Music Shop today so a 300 mile round trip. Appointment made for service of Recorders and purchase of new Alto Recorder for Mrs MC, difficult to do online and risky in the post. Good old Wilfrid VW camper will help us avoid service stations.

Keep safe and make the most of your day.

6.0 this morning. Hoping to get some time today to relax and read. Am really up to date with admin and lesson planning but have not yet finished Saturday's 'i' .

Have been sent some videos of the training session I did on Friday - which is one of the benefits of doing training on Zoom. It is brilliant because I can pause it and go over stuff I didn't understand initially - but the downside is that there are hours of it to go through.

good evening all :)

4.6 today

was quite a mild (if a little soggy ;)) day today but the last hour it has chilled a few degrees as the wind has got up :)

Over to mum's today to pick up her shopping list ready for the weekly trip tomorrow. Not many visitors about today in the rain, just a few disconsolate looking dog walkers.

Hope your day is treating you well :)

@gennepher - pesky badger :sorry: at least mum only has moles digging in her garden here. A pleasing piece of artwork today, vibrant colours and that looks like an interesting texture brush :)

@alf_Josiah - hope everything went off well :)

@ianpspurs - good for you getting your second jab today, hope it went ok.
I've never been much of a gardener, I'm better at pruning bushes and mowing than I am at flowers :sorry:

@Krystyna23040 - sounds good :)

@dunelm - thin unsized rice paper sounds like it would be a challenge :) Your fine bird today has a wistful feel.

art bit -
I may invest in a bit of modern 'Bockingford' so I can try the difference between the old Langford stuff made by Daler and the modern made by St Cuthbert's mill in Wells. (or better still perhaps I can get a sample pack :D )

This is one of the paintings made on the original paper I was using which has some surface sizing flaws partway through the pad, not too drastic I hope (but I know they are there :sorry:)

Thank you @geefull. Smart daffodils from you, flaws and all, sensitively done

I climbed it with some friends when I was about 15 years old @Muddy Cyclist
It was a beautiful deceiving sunny day. My friends were just ahead of me (we were approaching the top) talking taking no notice where they were walking. Too close to the edge of the steep cliffs into the lake. One was about to take a wrong step. I grabbed her coat and pulled her backwards. She realised then she was about to have taken a long tumble down. She said I had saved her life, but then they all went back to talking among themselves with no awareness again of their surroundings.

Maybe it is because I am deaf and lived most of my life with no sound, that I am clocking my surroundings constantly...I always have done even from a small child.

Wonderful that your granddaughter can enjoy her pony again. Yes, I also wonder about Covid spread - they said it was all over in India and then.... Safe trip.

Good morning everyone from an overcast, but you never know start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north
The wonder wheel of salad daze and chicken glaze came in at 5.3 this am

The bird feeder station is under attach. A gang of sparrows is attempting a take over and have brought in two fat pigeons to mop up at ground level the results of their harrowing attacks. I expect that we will be calling in re-supplies from the garage this morning. Girl in the bubble was in fine spirits yesterday - very chatty (can anyone speak babbling infant?) and waving at everyone in the park. She has now mastered the art of the crawl but still prefers the more specialised forward shuffle - Hidden Tiger, Crouching Bumshuffle.

Some more nesting birds today, from a photograph - making use of a brush pen today but a more traditional style tomorrow. I shall enjoy the parade of the bin lorry later this morning but first, koffy.

Thanks @geefull for the compliment

Your daffodils are wonderful. I love the colour.

I used to use Bockingford for all my paintings years ago. It was a good all rounder then for the paints etc I used. I still have a lot left in sketch books and blocks. Some were from the Heaton Cooper studios in Grasmere, others were different manufacturers, one lot was from a paper mill in the Lake District, and one was Bockingford paper in blocks which I got in the 1970's from a stationary shop that sold all kinds of paper but there was no manufacturer name. It was paper the shop had sourced and wrapped themselves. And this was the best Bockingford I ever had. I still have a few blocks, and it is kept in the dark away from damp. All this was from days when you could drive anywhere in the UK.

You will have fun trying out different manufacturers of the paper.

I have one fat wood pigeon mopping up. He must be the clumsiest soul on this earth. He has wrecked one of my feeders (intended for tiny birds...)

Wonderful birds again @dunelm

Fbg 6.7

Sort of nightmares all night, disturbing dreams... so actually real until I woke up, thank goodness.
All I want to do is go back to sleep now…

I promised myself just 15 minutes on this digital painting in procreate. But two hours later…

fortunately I saved the painting periodically. And when I got to the just over two hours, I realised I had completely wrecked it. Not that it is that good at painting in the first place, it was my feeling from my dreams.

So I went back the pictures I had saved of it, and when I went back half an hour in time, that was the one I liked best out of all of them. So, here is is...

This is just my feelings and emotions and colours in my head, and is not anything specific, as in a realistic painting.

I need a long nap now, just feel as if I've had no sleep last night, but I did sleep. Obviously not the right kind of sleep...

I am making a mess of posting things this morning, so I need that sleep.

Greetings all. April is rapidly disappearing in the rear view mirror. Oh wait, that is an agenda, as you were;). Fabulous daffs @geefull and Cader Idris looks suitably imposing @Muddy Cyclist - close to Julie's family roots. Visible from their garden. Interesting mixture for you MC. Higher than desired fbg, very safe trip for recorder maintenance due to Wilfrid and mixed emotions over GD's horse show. Overall a winner for you. @dunelm I'm pretty fluent in bubble. Quite simple really, feed me, change me, I need to sleep, give me that toy. Winner for the art @gennepher but hug for the nightmare IDK my fbg as I'm waiting a week after Jabbo MK 2 - my regime won't change as right now this is all I've got. Proceed cautiously people.

So easily done, great you saved your friends life. I was trained as a ML Mountain Leader and today I am still shocked by the lack of knowledge and equipment people go up Mountains with, probably the overtroden paths on Welsh and English Mountains giving a false sense of security.

Girl in a bubble studies seem to be going well. I have reached my second childhood and so may be able to help with 'babbling infant' talk.

Great birds again even if non traditional methods used.

Hugs for the troubled mind, winner for depicting your feelings through you art. Imaginative as ever.

@dunelm and @gennepher we have had a bird bath dilemma. Birds of all shapes and sizes would wait in line to make much splashing in our old Staffordshire Blue Brick bird bath, until! Mr Frog claimed it, he won't leave and now frogspawn appeared and birds have abandoned it.
IMG_4789.JPG
So Monday we purchased a proper bird bath, put it in place where Frog one is and moved Frogs to the side of it. As of yet not one bird's been seen in it. :(

t is because I am deaf and lived most of my life with no sound, that I am clocking my surroundings constantly...I always have done even from a small child.
That is the only way to stay safe when walking.and great that you have been clocking your surroundings since you were a young child and that you were able to save your friend from a catastrophic fall because of that awareness.

At last I have learnt that it is much better to stop when you are trying to identify a bird flying in the distance or admire the scenery. I have lost count of the rabbit holes, tree roots etc I didn't see in time before I learnt that lesson.
