Here in France it is currently illegal for me to cut the hedge. Have to wait until end of the month. Law is to protect nesting birds.
Quite right. Farmers (good ones) wait until after harvest and ploughing before hedging. They also don't rake up the trimmings. Also you surely wait to collect sloes, blackberries and hips. Does need a proper hedge though not conifers.

Unfortunately we have a leylandii hedge.

I ate a few naughties yesterday, yet my Fbg is down a bit.
But I have found if I eat what I call are naughty foods (occasionally) in the morning before my last meal of the day at about midday to 1pm then it seems to be okay. My weakness? Fresh cream eclair which I buy at the philately postmaster's shop. It comes all the way from Nantwich, and is delivered just as I am parking my car! It is the village shop also and sells quite a few nice specialist foods.

Creative photo for today.
Popeye doing his morning walks in my garden. I am using a collage app, and then putting it in Snapseed for name and the frame, and using the healing tool to blur the straight boundaries between the photos...and I used the burn tool to lighten Popeye's eyes and darken the pupil because they were not very well defined with using smaller photos for the collage process.
I cannot stop messing and exploring different apps!

The flowers are mostly wild flowers. The blue one bottom right is speedwell and covers the paths in June. I think it is very beautiful, although most people regard it as a weed, and this appears to be the last speedwell flower for this year. The others are white dead nettle, buttercup, and a couple of different pink flowers from the cranesbill family. Popeye loves eating grass, and you can see his teeth are pearly white, despite his age of 29 years. All other cats I have had, their teeth were definitely brown by the time they got to 10 years old...

Looks another fine day today. Better than all the torrential rain we have been having. I have always bought houses at the top of a hill, I have this thing about water and flooding, and I always want to be as high above it as possible...

5.1 this morning. Still relaxing with a coffee but must 'get into gear ' in a moment to take the dogs out for their morning walk. If we didn't have our dogs I definitely would not be going out for a walk - I would be relaxing with another coffee. Funnily enough, once we start our walk I am really happy to be out and about in the fresh air.

It was the same when I had my hearing dogs @Krystyna23040
The first thing of the day was a walk, even when it was dark mornings, and that fresh air set me up for the day.

Nowadays, it's cat Popeye, and I don't let him out unattended since the feral cat attack over a year ago, and now his dementia (although I wouldn't know it now with the dementia tablets I give him apart from an odd occasion when he looks hangdog). And as soon as it is fully light, Popeye does walkies round the garden, and I sit on my swing and watch him, or take photos. That early morning air is good for both of us.

Yes and such a good idea - look what happened to @gennepher’s hedge with that numb nut next door. Quite a lot of my family (parents, a brother, a sister) live in the Charente Maratime - we have been restricted to zoom calls - better than nothing I suppose but am chomping at the bit to get over and see them.

Good morning everyone on a bright and sunny bird chirping Disney like start here in the dark and dangerous north
The wonder wheel of yet more chicken in yet more spiced up and zingy tomato and roasted red pepper sauce came in at 5.5 this am. I don’t roast my own peppers - they come in a very useful jar.

Out on my bike yesterday - over to a place called Sandsend to check out a cafe called The Wit’s End - it has a courtyard garden. Nearest thing was a cumbrian sausage ciabatta roll with an extra egg and ditch the roll - sometimes it is best to just get the roll and ditch it rather than try to explain when the spark is not shining very brightly. Nice pot of tea, proper cup and saucer, plenty of milk.
Art stuff - same background as yesterday - a profile of Cat Bells - but a different foreground - think I will do similar today - anyhow, have a fab Friday thunderbirds, Koffy.

That was funny (not really) but I have given up saying I do not want the bread, otherwise I am stuck there at the till an extra 5 mins while they decide what to do about a person who does not want the bread...

I like this painting very much @dunelm

Good morning all however you chose to define yourself, wherever thou art and whatever your faith or lack thereof. Summer is here and maybe not for one day only. Salmon salad day and a trip to Waitrose in Newmarket, ostensibly to collect a John Lewis parcel for the woman in the boot. Carnage may ensue - I feel a pot (large) of roast artichokes incoming at the very least - No 1 Comte may also need liberating. Madam doesn't like the smell of Epoisses but .. I'm still testy but Ian P he no testy. Heinous loss of tea due to @dunelm' s wonderful "when the spark is not shining very brightly." I fear you are not the Messiah but a very naughty boy. Wonderful series of photo montages @gennepher - they exude love that touches even my curmudgeonly heart. Extra grandchild minding duties today and T20 cricket later. The painter painted his little heart out yesterday and will now morph into a layer of slabs and play bark for the miniature garden so the miniature Ps can play safely and not on my lawn:). Very bright outside light installed Monday so it can be open all hours. Tinkety Tonk Old Fruits - ooh, Fenboys luv nectarines!

When we first came up here in 1964 the summers and part of the spring seemed to be generally much wetter than now. There were occasional dry spells but never this dry. I remember a summer storm in 1966 when we just moved to this house when there was a storm for two hours that put 6" of rain in the transmitter rain gauge and our river flash flooded in the valley bottom....a similar amount of rain fell on Germany.
Because it was a lightening storm the 11kv overhead lines to the transmitter were lost and we had to run up the diesel alternators to maintain the transmission.

Down the road from here at one large house the dog was barking and when the guy went out to look the barn was flooded and when the door was opened the dog swam out.
They have now converted or are converting the barn to a cottage.
It surprises me how they are allowed to build on flood plains...the old houses were built by clever people who knew where house should be built even if their barns got water in them a couple of times a lifetime.

If the water ever gets into my garden I hope residents in the hamlet near the river have an Alf who is constructing an ark like some latter day Noah.

16.07 beautiful sunny morning, first for weeks, appropriate on such a special day.
Happy 66th anniversary Mum and Dad
Not that they will see this, but just to mark the occasion.
7.30am FBG 5.4
Have decided to have some friends round, my own party to help reduce angst about the one i am missing. (Friends is stretching it a bit- we have met them twice) and a couple that MrSlim met recently as well on Saturday. So this morning shopping, cleaning and general tidy up needed.
Hope you all get some sunshine - stay safe and well.

Hug for missing out on the 66th Anniversary celebration but winner for organising your own party. Winner also for the fbg. Some very strong ladies on this forum.
