What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Information overload? Knowledge is power? At least T'internet has moved on from watching the coffee machine or cheddar cam. I'm happy to read about D - theory is fine. The practical stuff is mostly pants.

One or several others have noticed that their blood sugars is up after exercise, but a later will drop after resting, myself included.
Frequent testing, ahh I can't say a great deal about that, but are you keeping a food diary?
It's still early days and a learning curve and for what it's worth I think you're doing well.

Today 6.3
Potatoes have blight so pulled them out. Only to discover I should have cut them down to prevent spores getting into the soil. Yet another example of panic pushing me into unwise action
Last few lettuce plants nearly destroyed by slugs/snails?
We have a bountiful harvest of mangetout, trying but failing to give them away as freezing was unsuccessful last year20210810_165524.jpg

You could easily turn the mange tout into soup and freeze for later. I think they use mint in some soups with mange tout.

It's a shame to deprive the slugs of such a poor feast !;)

Thank you for these links. Really interesting interview with Sam Apple. I hadn't realised that there was a connection between cancer and sugar and insulin resistance. Quite scary.

So on the 1st of July I went to hospital as I was getting chest pains so they checked me and everything was OK. The nurse did a random glucose and it was 21! What a shock. So the next day I immediately went on a keto diet and IF (after Dr jason fung and other ppl I searched on youtube) and within a month my numbers started to drop (my sis had GD and gave me her tester) by the end of the month I was getting readings in the 5s 6s and occasional 4s. But for the last week I've noticed more readings back in the 7s and 6s and some 5s. I'm worried I'm going backwards :(

I was 159kg on 1st July and now I am 141kg so I've lost 18kg in less than 6 weeks but I've got a long way to go.

I havnt officially been diagnosed but sure I am T2. I also have fatty liver.

Has anyone experienced a slight rise like this? Then it gets better? Does it need time?

I'm not on any medication except vitamins and Berberine as I want to avoid medication. Plus I feel like constant checking is driving me insane.

Today's fasting at 8am was 6.5 but I do get DP and after exercise it's been rising to 7s (which rarely did that a few weeks ago)

You are doing really well. I have also experienced times when blood sugars start running higher than expected. Then I will get a spell of them running lower than expected. I do find stress does raise BS but not always.

Great that you are taking control of the T2D. I think that insulin sensitivity does improve when we get rid of the fat around (and in) our liver and hopefully beta cell function Improves. Definitely not 'too good to be true'.

Thank you so much, I guess I have to remember it's only been less than 6 weeks in so it will fluctuate, plus I need to lose a lot of weight still. Just got to stress less and keep going
 
Good morning everyone from a cloudy yet promising start here in the dark and dangerous north
The wonder wheel of home made burgers on cheesy mash (cauliflower) with an egg came in at 5.2 this am

The girl in the bubble has discovered talking - recipients of the non stop babbling are entirely responsible for their own interpretations. Oh! We bought a house. It’s empty. The people buying our house are first time buyers (renting - one month’s notice) - I wonder just how long the solicitors will take given that everyone is ready to move? We will probably be moving in with daughter while some work gets done. Road trip today - off daaaan saaaaf into that Engel Land, ending up in Bristol and a catch up with my youngest brother.

“More trees vicar?” - “don’t mind if I do.” - International bin day so enjoy the cavalcade - time for a pot of koffy

The tree is fantastic. It has me thinking of Hokusai's great wave. It is like a wave rising out of the sea, forming a tree...
 
5.0 again this morning. Got lots done yesterday. Am able to work much faster now I have doubled my broadband speed to almost 1000mbps. Was really good again yesterday and took time out to exercise.

We watched an old episode of Yes Minister. I had forgotten just how good it was and although really funny (and at least 20 years old) I could imagine that it depicts really accurately how our government operates now.

Will catch up with posts later. Dogs are waiting for their morning walk.

Thank you @gennepher - it’s a bungalow which has had a further two bedrooms and a shower room built into the attic. Great idea, Hokusai’s great wave forming a tree - might have a go at that.

I had something else planned for this morning's photo, but the guardian of the night awoke me several times. My mouth was dry so whether because I might have been snoring or something and he wanted to check I was okay, I don't know. He didn't want feeding, he followed me to the bathroom, sat besides me, and then after I was washed my hands, he then led me back to the bedroom and my bed...I think this one was 3:59 am this morning, the moment I opened my eyes in the dark...so I reached for my phone camera which I leave set on camera nightsight to take a quick pic...

Fasting with water today. Run out of some fridge stuff and eggs, so decided to water fast. Saves thinking about what to eat or cook.

I think that mangetout needs freezing flat, on trays after blanching before bagging - you could puree and store in small portions or use ice cube trays to make a bag of little blocks. Pickling works.
 
Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen.

Today will be day of reflection and giving thanks to the brave family who 29 years ago allowed their sons organs to be donated and thereby giving life to people like myself who received his liver, but I also must not forget the young man who sadly died. I have been fortunate to see my sons become adults go to university, get married and have childreno. I swore as I walked out of the hospital for the first time that I would live as normal a life as I could, trying to show organ donation works.
I hope I have achieved that, and in doing so proved that the young mans untimely death and his brave family's gift of life to others was not a waste.

A 6.5 this morning.

@dunelm , your art work this morning reminds me of the group Yes albums covers. Did you not say you were travelling darn sarf? If so remember your passport for the dangerous Watford gap crossing. Safe travels.
