What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good morning everyone from a dark and quiet start here in the dark and dangerous north
The wonder wheel of ‘now see what you have done’ came in at 6.1 this am.

Girl in the bubble again today. Her other grandmother is not too well so we have her today. We also have her tomorrow afternoon and for a sleep over so that will be good. Youngest son coming this evening to collect a couple of single beds that are no longer required but have been asked for by the ninky nonks.
Sat here with my tea. I do like a couple of hours in the morning on my own. Tea first - and then a cafetière of koffy. I can’t do koffy first thing, it has to be tea first - oh what strange habits we turn ourselves into; ‘people aren’t just people, they are people surrounded by circumstances’ (Terry Pratchett).
Off to visit the venue for our reunion later this morning to finalise things. Mrs Miggins always organises this event, I think we have 200 ish this year.

Art bit - added some colour to yesterdays. Have a fruitful Friday, I shall now dig out that cafetière.

Fbg 6.6

So I went for a drive (in the car!) yesterday as well. By the time I got home it was a 150 mile round trip. Stopped at lots of places, just scenery. Ponds, mills, rivers and the like...

But on the way nearer home I stopped at a farm shop. It used to be open before Covid. However when I got inside, although it still said farm shop outside, it had been turned over to a cafe/restaurant. The only farm shop thing remaining was the butcher's counter because they are a farm estate. The so called food hall on their website, is non existent now.

So someone came up to me, a waitress and asked if I wanted to be shown to a table. Initially my thought was no because that wasn't what I went in for. Then I changed my mind, and I thought why not. I have not had a proper meal out in nearly two years 'cos of Covid.

This is the entrance to it...no creative photo today, just a plain photo! Edit: I fartnarkled it...more Halloweenish now...

Usually they make a big effort carving pumpkins and stuff but this was a pathetic attempt compared to previous years.

So, I was enjoying my meal and was was good ingredients. I had chosen a table near a door that was open to outside dining, and was not being used yet as it was raining. So I had fresh air.

But then I had noticed as in like a customer, walking around with a phone in her hand, yes I know everyone just about was walking around with phone in their hands, but this was a bit different.

But I didn't take much notice of her to start with. Then I saw her a second time walking all round the cafe/restaurant area, and it was the way she held her phone...

I am nearly at the end of my meal. Then I notice her doing her 'rounds' a third time, and when she turned I realised I could see she was videoing everything in front of the phone, then she turned round, pointed her phone at me. She realised her mistake and I shouted 'hey', but she disappeared quickly round the corner, so I threw a couple of notes down for my meal, said to the waitress 'keep the change', and went round the corner to confront the woman with the phone, but she had vanished. I went out side, but no woman with her phone.

I do not agree with someone specifically videoing me, even as part of something else, without my permission. It is probably a good job I didn't catch up with her.

But that incident spoilt my meal which was my treat to me (that I hadn't intended to do in the first place). That money would have done me nice breakfasts at home for a fortnight...

I won't be going there again...

Today is an at home day with NO people...

Take care...

EDIT: I have fartnarkled the first photo I posted, and made it a bit more Halloweenish....

Penrith to Alston is a great biking road but not on fair weather weekends when it is jammed full of idiots taking corners on the wrong side of the road coming down from Alston. Some of them do end up down in them fields where sometimes the air ambulance can land. I usually turn right after St Johns Chapel and head down Allendale.
You would have to be more careful if you were looking for Merlin's on the fell at the same time!

I like yesterday's and today's with the added colour bits to it @dunelm

I have a coffee and a tea together first thing, and take alternate sips from each....

Hope the other grandma feels better quickly...

Have a successful day....

Oh and the day was going so well. There is an issue if she was filming for the cafe as permission should always be asked for. I would be minded to write (email) and inform them that they do not have your permission to include you in any promotional material. Nice pumpkins though - I like them roasted and as an ingredient in winter soups.

Thank you @gennepher. Other grandma has tonsillitis - ouch - very painful and not good for her as a choir master.

That's a very good idea. I will do exactly that.

By the way I have now fartnarkled my original pumpkin photo, and made it more Halloweenish, if you wish to have a peek...so I have been creative today!!!

Good morning everyone from a Forest Heath still, fortunately, stubbornly refusing to completely surrender to the deceptively sinister autumn and its evil. monster sibling Winter. Sock free salmon salad day and neither Stabbington nor Swipey to ruin my morning routine with the facts ma'am, the facts. My fbg was 5.7 today in 2015 (3 months in) and the conditional formatting of my spreadsheet duly turned that cell red for >5.4. I had moved logs the day before, did 35 minutes on my exercise bike and took the dogs for a gentle 40 minute walk. Moot point whether all that detail is maudlin or an essential process in mourning before moving on. Yesterday I had <6 gms carb which sounds fine in this silo but I'm increasingly unconvinced that offers nothing positive. Just a number on a meter/at A1c time - box ticking/target hitting. What if the target is the wrong one? @gennepher shame the phantom videor spoiled your meal. Good work on the image - is fartnarkled your own word or something very technical non arty people should avoid? @dunelm enjoy the wonders brought by the girl in the bubble and indeed all grandchildren and thanks for the art. @karen8967 another Friday Meme delivered on time - can you drive an HGV? I have no clue if there's anything remotely relevant in this post but I sincerely wish you all well. Oh, I'm a 2.5 litres+ tea (Assam) until 11.00 am then what most consider cisssy's koffy with cream and sugar free caramel syrup, kinda guy.

A good halloween fartnarkle - ask them if they would like to buy it :angelic:

5.2 this morning. Had flu jab yesterday. No side effects. Really weird weather. Taught classes yesterday evening with windows wide open. It felt like a summer 's evening.

Thank goodness for Facebook. I ordered some balls for my classes from my Professional Body and they sent it to the wrong address. They have never done that before. Luckily the lady who received the parcel posted a plea for help to find me on our local community page.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and all who ponder the meaning of life.

A clean 6.1 this Friday on that grrrr meter, but me and me’s are glad I didn’t introduce it to my carpentry hammer.

Well @gennepher what an interesting breakfast you had and soon to be star of stage and screen, well screen. You asked me a few days ago to post some pictures, today’s picture is another of my interests the infamous plinky plonky keyboard set up. In my defence I have no artist ability at all and Mrs J is not happy at my attempts at painting walls and doors, Mrs J usually snatches the brush out of my hand and banishes me to my shed.
Have a great day all and stay safe.6CD2BE2F-6012-42FB-8EC4-AE69F2BCEB2C.jpeg

Australian, verb: to waste time; to spend time in unnecessary and/or unproductive activities; to muck around; to faff about.

Here is one explanation on fartnarkling...

Photographers use it sometimes...

So, alas I did not make the word up @ianpspurs

Oh blimey...you can do lots on that keyboard @alf_Josiah

J. bought me a keyboard when I had the cochlear implant, saying you can play this now you can hear...it didn't quite work like that...I need to feel the notes like you do on a piano. It is not like that on an electric keyboard...

You are too, too kind. That perfectly describes me analysing my diet every day. What's a guy to do though as burying me 'ead in the sand/make pretend wins elections but is an awful idea as far as the possible connection between what carp I'm shovelling into me and longevity is concerned. Functionality is a whole other issue and pleasure is probably best ignored. Eating to my meter, functionality and pleasure have a nice parallel here IMHO.

Or was that yesterday?
Anyway new routine is obviously not working as yet again forgot FBG....
Can hear mouse? Please not rat! Noises under the kitchen unit again, added mousetrap to shopping list.
Errant has finished his course of antibiotics, but his voice and appetite are still both less than they were. He continues to eat clay, so we have decided on a slightly different feeding routine and a lot more attention and we are going to treat him for parasites and see how he is in a week.
Sunny today, am hoping to get outside.

Also forgetting my French lesson, due to new routine. Routine was changed to help stop Errant heading straight for a molehill when door is opened in the morning, seems to have helped with that, but messed up my stuff.
Bad news day. Both the electrician and the roofer are running behind. Electrician now saying November and it's looking like sometime around Christmas for the roofer. Definitely not what we wanted.
Another sad thing. Found the remains of a barn owl in our field. What kills barn owls? Was nowhere near the road.

Likely someone trying to poison rodents
?
