What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good morning everyone from another dull start but with the promise of extra dullness as the day progresses here in the dark and dangerous north.
Mrs Miggins managed to arrive home safely round noon to a joyous reception by the ninky nonks and Little Miss Pamplemouse. The Girl In The Bubble turned up as did Mr Pickle - good job the sun was shining when they were all charging round the garden. Daughter in Law’s sister turned up - when will it end???
All will be quiet later on as everyone heads home, leaving us bereft of food but leaving us with a bit of peace and love until the next deluge of the little people.
Art bit - adding colour to yesterday. Hope you are all on track to survive day four of the jubilations. Must make some koffy.

5.7 this morning. Hoping that the Met office is right and it is not raining this afternoon as we want to walk to our village Social Club where our friends band The Soul Traders are playing.

For the last couple of days Jade has been the second customer of the day after Midnight. I am pleased about that. She is not skulking around so much, still remaining hidden, but is out in the open a little bit more. She does, however, still drag the wet cat food out of the bowl before she eats it. Whether she is worried about getting trapped again, and taken away again, I don't know.

I still strenuously object to the hacked off left ear to show she has been neutered. And I still have photos from before she got taken last Christmas when she had two perfect ears.

I personally think tattooing should be done instead when every cat has been neutered, even those done privately by their owners. And then when the TNR (trap, neuter, release) contingent come along to traumatise cats (possibly for life, causing the cat to mistrust humans) with their trapping methods, they can see that the cat has been neutered before they trap the animal. Nothing is humane about trapping an animal. And then the TNR brigade will be able to see before they trap and take the cat away, that the cat has been neutered. It would save time, effort, money. And also would save trauma to the cat. And would save on trauma to cat owners who wondered why their beloved pet went missing, and that poor cat may or may not be able to get back to its owners after the TNR release it back again to supposedly where they found it.

Research on Google suggests that maybe up to half the cats (in the UK) the TNR program trap, are actually household pets in their home area. And these cats were unnecessarily trapped, and taken somewhere by a vehicle in a cage, and kept somewhere, before they were finally released again, maybe not even near their original trapping point, thus causing more stray cats.

I am not objecting to neutering, but I am objecting to the way this is carried out here in the UK at present.

I am harping on about this again because I am seeing more of beautiful Jade as she is getting her confidence back, and of her cut off ear, which looks to me like it has been cut off with scissors and makes me wince at the thought of that being done.

Right. Back to the feathered beasties.
Mr Blackbird was a pain in the wotsit yesterday. Mrs Bluetit has a favoured fatball feeder. Just after Mrs Bluetit checked my garden was safe and went to collect her babies, Mr Blackbird sat on top of Mrs Bluetit's favoured feeder and did a huge white mess all over it and the fatballs. Mrs Bluetit came flying in with her babies, and saw/smelt/? the mess Mr Blackbird had left over her feeder. She looked all around (just as a human person does) trying to find who had done this evil deed. Mr Blackbird did a fly past. Mrs Bluetit ushered her babies to the next fatball feeder. And I went out and took the offending fatball feeder down, and washed, and replaced it.

Mr Blackbird was trying tricks towards Mrs Bluetit and her three babies. He was causing trouble all day doing flypasts perilously close as Mrs Bluetit was feeding her babies. Little Miss, teenage sparrow, au pair and bodyguard extraordinaire, was working hard all day chasing Mr Blackbird away from the Bluetit family.

If I could get hold of that blackbird...

There is enough food here, easily available, for Mr Blackbird, but no, he wants to cause the utmost trouble and disruption.

Mr Magpie dropped in, saw what was going on, and decided to leave...

Creative today, a digital painting of mine, put into an app called Tiny Planets, with Little Miss (teenage bodyguard sparrow) hard on the heels of the rogue Mr Blackbird.

I am avoiding all Jubilee celebrations round here. Still in my hermitage.
For the record I am for the Queen and the monarchy (although there are bits I don't like, but that is the same with anything). I just want to be a cantankerous batty old lady...

I like this gentle treatment of colour @dunelm
It enhances the b&w ink drawing.

Looks like you had a great day yesterday.
You will probably miss all that love and noise once everyone has gone home...

Greetings Diabetes Massive. A wet start to the day here in the Exotic East. The sun smiled on the P family BBQ so heat was applied to humans from 92 to <1 and a serious quantity of meat. Apparently, Vietnamese gin must be consumed within 12 hrs of opening and needs to be diluted with litres of cider and craft beer. Strongest I drank were tea and 1 coffee. I was unsure about The PJ Concert but in the end it earned its keep. Today's schedule includes waving goodbye to visitors, maybe watching granddaughter’s ballet display and, weather permitting, revelry with neighbours in The Close. Thanks in advance for the art @gennepher and @dunelm. Stay safe everyone and show the utmost care and respect for all you meet.
Sounds like you are having fun joining in the Jubilee celebrations @ianpspurs

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen. Are you enjoying the celebrations? It is possible to enjoy the celebrations without participating for example Mrs J recorded the party at the palace, which enabled us to fast forward through the parts that we not to our ( read that as not to Mrs J’s ) taste. Operating the remote control is beyond my capabilities.
.
Blood sugars this morning were 5.3.
.
With regard to my posting yesterday about oversleeping, today was not a problem, a cramp attack in my calf muscle woke me up at approximately 7:30am, it was a win win scenario firstly walking it off boosted my pace count and secondly it enabled me to get 50minutes plinky plonky practice in. Unfortunately Mrs J is demanding that I have a hair cut and possibly a beard trim. As they say ( who I know not ) if you’ve got it flaunt it, I have hair aplenty.
Now it is time for me, me’s and myself to wish you all a splendiferous day and stay safe.

Have a great sport watching day.

Fully agree with the tattooing.

How on earth can mutilating such cats be a part of civilised society .

Seeing such things daily would make me wince & angry too @gennepher

Thank you @jjraak
I am glad you said all that.
Jade is outside at the moment eating biscuits and wet food.
It tugs at my heart, and my eyes each time I see her with the cut off ear...

It rained all day yesterday.
Midnight was the first to be fed, he was sleeping on my swing all night, so he is the first to greet me, purring like a tractor and rubbing round my legs. He even comes into my study now. I put the different bowls of wet cat food under the dry cover of my large wooden swing. He was making his tiny squeaking noise he makes. He has got the tractor purr right, but not the miaow.
He doesn't demolish every dish now, but tastes daintily from his favourite foods. And I can stroke his full body now
Then he gets back on the dryness and comfort of my swing and surveys his domain.
Every now and then he gets down to have another few bites, then back swinging on the swing again. (All my cats while I have lived here have slept on the swing most of the time, despite having free access to my bungalow and garage through the cat flaps).
The cat flaps were big enough for my then Hearing Dog for the Deaf.
But Midnight is bigger than my dog. I would have to replace the cat flaps with dog flaps.
But we will see.
I got my Hearing Dog's old harness out yesterday. Just to see, because I would have Midnight on harness and lead if I took him to the vet. No chance of the harness fitting Midnight, far too small...he would need the dog crate as well (still kept it), no chance of stuffing Midnight into a cat basket, even if he did cooperate which would be extremely unlikely.

Jade was second to feed at the cat diner yesterday, and she has realised she doesn't have to be scared of Midnight, but she is still trying to snatch the wet food to get into the undergrowth before she eat, .and so I put some solid cat pate out to allow her to do this.

Then The Merlins, then Calico.

Midnight oversees all this...

Mrs Bluetit came out in the pouring rain with her little ones. But I was worried to start with. There was just Mrs Bluetit and just 2 babies. Then a bedraggled Mr Blackbird, it is pelting with rain, comes sweeping in to attack the bluetits. Little Miss, teenage sparrow, who the bluetits have adopted as part of their clan (she is a couple of weeks or so older than the baby bluetits) comes sweeping out of the bushy leaves, as bodyguard extraordinaire to attack Mr Blackbird who turns and flees, and so the daily chases begin.

Then Mr Bluetit comes over the tops of the trees with the 3rd baby bluetit. And they are feeding together again. They must have decided to divide up for safety.

It was not even 6 am by then. The ravens are flying overhead making their harsh noises. The seagulls are swirling, mewling away.

And I can hear that fine twittering noises the bluetits are making. And other birds as well...

I have the Sensitivity Control turned up to maximum on my Cochlear Hearing Processor to hear all this. I have the Remote App for this on my iPad. The iPad app, updates and adds to this itself. And it is time to turn the Sensitivity levels right down, because at this high level, it picks up up and magnifies every other sound in the environment including my breathing which sounds horrendous, and picks up the movement of every hair on my head as I move and turn my head. I am getting a bit of a headache building up by now...too much incoming stimulus for my brain...but it was nice to listen to it all for a bit. I still cannot get used to the sound of rain...

Creative is another Art Installation. The Leaning Tower of Strawberry Pots (Pisa). It had more lean than the Pisa one, and keeled over. Then I wired it together...it keeled over. Then I added cable ties...it keeled over. Then I duct taped it...it lasted a little longer....then keeled over. It wasn't beating me. Some rebar round it next. Thar appeared to solve the problem...but then I put soil in the strawberry pots...it started leaning badly. The soil was heavy. I had some orange washing line, put hooks in the wood bit of the garage door, tied the washing line round and round. Then I planted my peas and beans seeds in it. It is still sort of standing upright this morning.

Time for a coffee and to begin the day...

I also have managed to miss all Jubilee celebrations - all full of people with germs :***::***:. I did watch the Trooping of the Colours - after all, she was my boss for 30 years. Smashing tiny planets, hurtling through space with a narrative by Carl Sagan.

Wonderful detailed account of the morning madness and sad that the implant can’t filter out sounds not needed. I love your leaning tower of Strawberry Pots practical art installation - maybe they will have to be renamed as the Leaning Tower of Peas-a and Beans-a once the seeds develop.

Good morning everyone from a distinctly dull start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. It rained most of the night so at least we have some respite from falling wetness. The house is now in recover mode after the flood of chaos, mayhem and jollity that were the ninky nonks and Little Miss Pamplemouse. They are having today off school it seems but dad has to return to work and give of his labour so that more excursions can take place.
Art bit - the last of the three Falklands scenes - this one is Tumbledown - I will add colour tomorrow. Hope your recovery from whatever participation in the jubilee extravaganzas you enjoyed goes well. I shall make koffy and slurp it while still hot.

Hello from a very wet and distinctly unexotic East. Platinum Jubilee over so bring on the back biting, bitching UK that has predominated since at least 2008. These last four days, the 2012 Olympics and The Euros show what we could just be at our best. Thank you for the art @dunelm. Delicate question - feel free to tell me to Eff Off - but how conflicted are your emotions with those Falklands pieces? @gennepher hug for the rain and implant being unable to filter noses you don't want. Thank you for sharing that tower. @Krystyna23040 and all returning to work I hope all goes well. Two grandchildren today so to some extent the caring, sharing vibe lives on here. All eyes on that Brady chap today but you have your best day whilst being aware of your responsibility to others. In essence that seems to be what the whole four day shindig was all about. It just sailed over the head of our current PM.
