What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen and those who played hopscotch as a child and maybe still do.
A 5.6 on the meter this morning.
.
This Morening I went for a gentle jaunt on my motorcycle, I wanted to test a route out I hope to do next week with a bike riding neighbour, with a stop approximately halfway at the what is becoming a regular haunt. Here is the rather circular route through some nice rolling downland and the Savernake forest.
Tilehurst towers, Streatley, Newbury, Hungerford A4, Froxfield, Durley, Burbage and Choppers cafe on the A338. Very crowded. Then homewards via the A338 through the market town of Hungerford continuing on the A338 north to the market town of Wantage and the town square with King Alfred’s statue then back to Tilehurst Towers on the A417 and A329. Total distance of 91 miles. There is a huge bike meet at Calne this weekend which is not far away and quite a few bikers were calling in at Choppers cafe for a full on fry up on their way to Calne.
I’m posting the route for @jjraak and any others that want to get a map out. Motorbiking roads are generally a nightmare for car drivers.
Well fellow posters and painters stay safe and hopefully attached is a picture of the crowded cafe.View attachment 55688
Sounds as though you had a wonderful time. Delighted for you.

Bit busy - hope you didn’t have to wait too long for sustenance. Sounds like a good day out.

Daughter and family are now back safely 'down South'. They are spending some time with our youngest daughter and her family before flying back to Canada. It has been such a lovely visit but the house is so quiet now.

@gennepher We also have neighbours with deep pockets and interminable works but they are a short distance away so not nearly as great a disturbance Yet another new stray? Amy ? We dont seem to have any here. No Errant replacement waiting in the wings.
@jjraak so pleased to read of your progress. Somehow missed previous mentions of Marley. Is he a stray cat?

Meanwhile MrSlim has bought himself a new cement mixer. I am not sure why the old one was inadequate.... and started on repairing the pointing. This is going to take some weeks and will also be using some noisy equipment. A bit of tit for tat.
Today I plan to finish clearing out the rooms used by our houseguests and possibly some pulling out some unproductive vegetable plants. We also need to book passage to the UK.
Have managed two days out of three normal eating, NOT low carb. Maybe get back to that someday, first need to conquer overeating. I have gained nearly five kilos and am constantly bloated. This is a new experience for me as previously has been difficult to put on weight. Now I have taken to reading and overeating instead of the activity filled life I had before. Motivation is definitely lacking. I can see all the tasks that need doing - but simply can't be bothered.
Has anyone ideas as to how to get back to normal for me?

Not so much stray, more of we've been adopted..:D

Neighbours cat, starting sneaking up to door and pawing it ,
neighbours below used to feed it, then when they moved out, I guess he just tried his luck.

December/January just gone were hard for us, and I guess too many no replies when he 'knocked' made him think he wasn't welcome anymore & his favourite Cat Diner had closed down :arghh:

Once we settled a bit, after the accident..he became more frequent, but we then began having our 'nieces' dog, more frequently....(24/7 emergency dog sitter, who doesn't love one of those ;) )

Dog adores Marley, but it's not entirely reciprocated...

Frankie (dog) sniffs and bumps noses....
cat allows so much, to a point...
(not easily definable and changes like the weather)

So Frankie unexpectedly gets a good few clatterings before he realises his attentions are NOT welcome.

The slaps are much less intense now, more a 'push' away from the cat, but it's meant we keep marley outside now, when we have Frankie stopping over.

Now throw in my nephew's dog, this weekend, and poor ol Marley pushed further to the sidelines..but still has the cheek of the devil to still try, bless him :hilarious::hilarious:

Nice fresh rain this morning.
It looks like it absolutely poured in the night.

Midnight banked up some cushions on the swing against the backrest, and was sitting on a much higher position, when I woke up this morning. He normally sleeps on the edge of the swing. Well that would have been wet last night. He is as dry as a bone!
He has had virtually no breakfast, just a lick of the wet food (so plenty is left for the strays including the tasty jelly), and so, I assume a successful night's hunting before the rain.

The sparrows, Little Miss and her two suitors are very noisy and active. And I mean active...
Little Miss has been rejecting the advances of her suitors the last few days, but I think one of them has just scored a bullseye and with Little Miss's consent. Mrs Bluetit has been hovering nearby...

Surely it is too late to have brood this year? It will be Little Miss's first brood.

Anyway, creative this morning is Kaleidoscope in Laboscope pointed at the sparrow activity....

Second cuppa needed now. First cuppa can be seen in the ring around the white flower (which is my fan) in my cat mug.

Have a lovely Sunday.

A surprising 4.9 this morning. Pancreas and liver coped really well with the 2 scoops of ice cream yesterday. Have decided that a very occasional treat is OK. This is the only thread I would dare to admit this.

Family are leaving later today. It has been a lovely visit.
I hear that, @Krystyna23040

It does feel less restricted on here, and I hope more accepting that we lapse sometimes

I do believe majority of members see that in the same light.

But like any group, some are, let's say, more zealous... about those why may cross some imaginary line... ;):D

Personally I see this way of eating being better for ME
If others see it the same way, great.

But for anyone, myself included, who does or has gone off piste,
at whatever point they return to LCHF, then THAT is ONE day more they have improved their diabetic health, imho.

It's not a sin to fail, god knows I have,
So why would be hard on those who do occasionally.?

Let's not look down on anyone, UNLESS it's when we are offering them a helping hand up.

That's my belief.

Lets keeps people going with helpful advice, not shaming or driving them away.

And as I say, I suspect the vast majority think similar.

Good morning everyone from under the deluge that has appeared over the dark and dangerous north. So, cars washed and garden watered before we even start. No idea what we will be doing today but yesterday was a walk through the woods and down to The Ship - got in before the crowds and had a light lunch of sea food and salad. Art for today, the start of not so much a tree, rather a local branch. Stay well, enjoy your Sunday. I am waiting for my koffy to brew.

Much appreciated @alf_Josiah .

Looks a marvelous little route, some lovely scenery around that way

Not too familiar with all of it, though as you know, I have been loomies, Newbury diner & popham.

But more as a Day tripper ;):D

Glad you got out to reconnoitre for your upcoming run :)

Cafe has a good turn out, some lovely looking kit on show....<daydreams>

May your guardian angel always be one step ahead of the devil & his mischief.....

Yes, you are right that the majority of members are not over-zealous. This thread is a special thread as it is so kind and supportive.

Great about the rain!
A very impressive branch @dunelm

5.1 this morning. Busy washing the bedding and towels. It is a shame that it is raining and we can't dry them outside.

Have got a bit of admin to do but plenty of time to finish the Rebus book that I purchased in 2020 but didn't have time to read then.

The grandchildren really loved playing with the dogs. Their mum explained to them that Archie would soon be going over the rainbow bridge as he is really old now.

Hello everyone from the newly (rain) watered Breckland/Fenland border. No deluge but just enough to lay the dust for a morning. An early(ish) morning happy 4th birthday video call with a super excited granddaughter enjoying breakfast in her new (2 day) home before her big day out at Legoland. Later we are off to celebrate Wednesday's first birthday of our youngest grandchild, 2nd grandson. Nonagenarian MIL will be with us so thanks be to God and the NHS after both were fighting for their lives last September. Football needs to be recorded and scores kept secret. @gennepher thanks for sharing the wonderful kaleidoscope and tale of Little Miss. @Krystyna23040 hug for missing your family and the tender idea of Archie gently crossing the rainbow bridge. @dunelm thanks for the art and your day yesterday sounds splendid. @jjraak I also think this thread is very supportive so thanks to Harrison/AlienAspie for starting this.I hope he is well. In the spirit of sharing I had a whole 36 gms of Häagen-Dazs chocolate drizzle Gelato (8 gms carb I think) from a tub idly lying around in a freezer then later a shop bought stuffed mushroom containing ciabatta, another 6/7 gms carb. Have a great day, especially those Lionesses. Sweet Caroline on loop, later?

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and all who cherish Sunday morning lie ins, as demonstrated on the various Sunday mornings political idiot box shows. Whoops that one was a bit below the belt, to coin a boxing saying.
Bloods this morning were 4.8, it’s a good job I’m not driving or riding today, but I could be wielding a pair of pruning shears on my apple trees.
Hopefully attached will be a couple of photographs of the refurbished planters that I wrote about a week or so ago, all I need to do now is find a recipient for them. Before and after.
Stay safe all.E3A9955E-7A90-4303-BE9C-FF384CE0CA9F.jpeg6333DDBF-605A-4403-9152-F849EDCEF179.jpeg
