What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Fbg 6.5

Yesterday morning it was raining hard when I got up.
When I went out to feed the cats, there was Midnight on his usual end of my long swing, and on the other end was Jade keeping dry. Presumably her usual overnight accommodation was not rainproof that night.

I was hoping Jade would be on the swing when I got up this morning, but she is a free spirit and does her own thing. However, she has turned up for breakfast, and gone on her way.

The small birds are all arriving, sparrows, bluetits, greattits, one dunnock, one robin, one wren, and they are making a heck of racket. So much so that the new Mr Blackbird popped his head out of the clematis/honeysuckle bush to complain. Then Mr Blackbird flew to the path in front of Midnight, said a huge long tirade at Midnight (who just sat impassively and watched Mr Blackbird), then Mr Blackbird went under the swing where the dried cat biscuits were, took a couple and flew back to the clematis/honeysuckle bush.

Yesterday I left a full packet of butter out on top of the microwave when I took my cuppa to the front room. I forgot about it, and when I returned I couldn't understand what had happened. My brain didn't compute what this yellow stuff was all down the microwave, in the the microwave, all over the counter surface, down the washing machine, and spreading across the floor.

A 250 gram packet of butter goes a long long way...

Creative this morning is a kaleidoscope in Laboscope pointed at my lined foolscap paper and the notes I am making at the moment. I always make notes in different coloured biro pens, and different coloured fine felt tip pens. I don't absorb information if the whole page is in the same black pen/print. I am wasting my time. But if I use colour for notes or highlighters if reading non-fiction I will take it in very easily. My son used to get frustrated with me - but Mum you are not meant to highlight every word in the book (you know non-fiction book), you are supposed to just get a yellow highlighter and highlight a few words on each page, not all these different colours on every word in the page.

I tried to explain it was my method of learning and taking in information and all the different colours mean something different to my brain. But he didn't even remotely understand...

On that note it is now time to make a cuppa, and get my lined paper and coloured biros out.,.

Thank you @dunelm. The appointment was face to face with a doctor. He has increased my Gliclizide from 2/day to 3/day alongside my 2x metformin then will retest my HbA1c and liver function in 3 months. The reassuring news was that if I can get my blood sugars down to normal it is possible to reverse my non-alcoholic fatty liver which was one of my main concerns. I now feel more positive that I have something to work towards. Thanks again for bothering to reply.
Oh that is good news for you. I managed to get rid of my fatty liver once it was diagnosed just by keeping a food diary and moving a bit more. All the very best with your new goal.

Oh what a butter fingers you are. I do hope that the clean up was not too taxing. Any method that works in the aid of learning must be a good method. Smashing kaleidoscope this morning. Very vibrant and somewhat reminiscent of Charlottes Web.

Good morning everyone. The sun is breaking through the clouds here in the dark and dangerous north and the entrails foretell of a pleasant, balmy day. Meanwhile, in France, it’s been the driest July in years and not looking to change any time soon. It’s my mother’s birthday today and her wish is to go out for lunch but only if there is some air conditioning - best sort that out then dad.
Art bit - the start of a tree branch. Have a wonderful Wednesday, I shall go and make even more koffy.

A knife to scrape first, then hot soapy water (lots of it) and rags...
Thanks for the kaleidoscope compliment.

Happy Birthday for your mum!
A splendid tree branch...

5.2 this morning. Another hectic day but at least my brain is working better today. Interestingly my fitbit sleep score was exceptionally low yesterday which might have accounted for the brain fog and tiredness.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen on this rather busy morning.
A 5.6 on that meter of wonder.
I shall make no comment on butter.
So far here in Tilehurst Towers this morning has consisted of plinky plonky practice, more is still required, what do you say “Hey Jude”? A covid test, thankfully -ve, tea drunk and koffy now being consumed slurp ahh.
As @gennepher requested pictures of some of the things I make herewith fingers crossed is a picture of a child’s seat I made some time ago for one of my grandchildren who has now out grown it and I am slightly refurbishing it for my 1 year old surrogate granddaughter.
Stay safe all and enjoy today it’s a gift.600FCD92-8581-4F2F-8D23-BDCF714C27F4.jpeg

Smashing chair and I’m sure that your surrogate granddaughter will enjoy it.

Hello everyone from another warm, dry day here in almost the sunshine capital of The Land of Lionesses. Temperatures nudging 30 C would heretofore have been declared a scorcher but are now relegated to meh. @gennepher thanks for the vibrant kaleidoscope and reminder that we all learn/retain information differently. Hug for the hassle and loss caused by melting butter. @dunelm thanks for the trees and happy birthday to your mum. Air con and a meal out sounds just the job. Our youngest grandchild is 1 today which is cause for thanks and praise after triple viral infections threatened to see him off last September. @alf_Josiah sturdy looking chair and good advert for Pledge. @dogslife wonderful end to the day for you. Topical little tune - lyrics underneath in the text Genn. Marginal gains globally but a huge impact for some in that state and potentially nationwide. Revival of The Age of Reason?

Good morning all on a promising sunny start to the day. I started my double dose of Gliclizide last evening. I wondered if it would cause a hypo but my fbs this morning was 12.2. I guess it will take a while to take effect. Many thanks to all those who kindly responded to my posts. It really made a difference.:)Happy birthday wishes to your mum@dunelm. I hope you all enjoy her special day. Best wishes to everyone.

Hi Alf!
You have a good day.
Lovely red chair!
Surrogate grandchild will love that.

Thanks Ian!

That is really interesting. I have 5 different coloured felt tipped pens and when I do my class lesson plans I do a stick person drawing and a couple of cues for each exercise. Each line of cues and drawings has to be in a different colour otherwise I cannot follow it. I thought that I was the only person who needed this and am really pleased that I am not.

You are the first person who has said that back to me, that they do something along the lines that I do.
Thank you :)

Good morning everyone on what may be termed the Commonwealth Games Bin Day Extravaganza here in the dark and dangerous north. Thank you for the birthday wishes for my mum which I have passed on to her. My sister tells me that it was 42 degrees yesterday so my parents did not venture out. Rather, my sister took lunch round to them. Their house stays relatively cool durning these hot spells. Physio today - what joy! A free course of torture and contortion curtesy of the NHS. Art bit, more work on the tree branch. Oh, and must remember to collect my prescription from the pharmacy. Do you think that Pharmacists who recommend homeopathy should be willing to accept as payment envelopes that once contained money? Have a wonderful day if you can, does anyone fall within a hose pipe ban? Best make use of the water up here and make some koffy.
