Scaffold is now fully erected (at 10m high it is just possible to reach the loose barge board) and is equipped with hoist. It has taken two days to get both towers up. The taller one has been borrowed from a neighbour, saving us literally hundreds of euros. Thank you very much J&J. MrSlim has anchored both the towers to the house wall. I have not enjoyed watching the construction process. It is obvious that MrSlim is not as fit, flexible, agile or confident at height as he was, even a couple of years ago. Will be grateful to see the job safely concluded. Getting MrSlim to rest is almost impossible once he has started a job, however he has become more aware of needing to drink and will stop briefly for tea or squash.
@dunelm yesterdays blackouts were short, but frequent, leading to the reassuring use of a candle in our windowless shower room. However last night we experienced a spectacular and lengthy thunderstorm with torrential rain and power cut. Power was still off when we went to bed.
Freezer temp this morning -1. Have carefully refrained from opening the door and engaged fast freeze.
@gennepher well done you for the plumbing job successfully completed. MrSlim would agree with you about getting in and out of tight spaces. He must have forgotten how much of narrowboat living involves this kind of gymnastics and is eulogising canal life again. At 6ft 2in he is not made for small spaces.
