6.5 this morning. Its a working progress, my mum says take little victories and encourage yourself. I was diagnosed with T2 9 days ago. I was 18.6 then....this is the lowest fbg i have had.

Good morning and welcome to this little section of this very helpful and at times knowledgeable site.
I wish you luck on your journey on our diabetic road, we all have to find out what works for us individually, we all differ, for some low carb works, for others it doesn’t.
Please don’t hesitate to ask if you are unsure.

Welcome to this little corner of the multiverse. 6.5 down from 18.6 - very good - just keep doing what you are doing.

Hello everyone on Transfer Deadline Day, Eve of Bin day (some US familes failed to account for UK Bank Holiday) and remembrance of St Giles of Provence. Winchester Gang fed and watered x2 and we await the tyre fitter for the ancient RR - locking nut in prominent place as requested. Exciting day yesterday with grandchildren @dunelm and that art is progressing nicely IMHO. I'd take Queen Crankie in a heartbeat atm. @gennepher thanks for the creative and I hope the cleanup isn't too tiring. @alf_Josiah I hope both the clock repair and "medical Stuff" both go well. @SlimLizzy the hug is for the worry over Mr Slim. Lots of sound advice above. Wrap up well now it is Autumn and the weather rapidly turns into a Dementor’s kiss for me. As always, YMMV.

good luck with the ancient Rolls Rover repair, that’s RRR.

Thank you and also @dunelm. Tyres done, now to have the wheel alignment sorted. Front Both lawna mowed and will be off to an aspirational cafe/farm shop/children's playground after morning nap - for granddaughter. Aspirationally priced cake may well make an appearance just to make the tyres seem cheap as chips.

Oh no. Hope that is easily solved with the least mess possible.
The down pipe from the u bend has come adrift, dropped.
So I thought just connect it up again.
Not possible.
It was never put in right in the first place. it has been like this the last 20 years I have been here and never leaked yet. A blinking miracle.
The u bend end had just been placed over the down pipe, and the screw fitting wasn't connecting/wasn't doing anything.

A trip to the plumbers store for me next. Don't know exactly what I'm looking for. But one guy on You Tube said a compression fitting is possibly good because of the possible different plastics...

It is worth a go at least.

It is now done and dusted, and is being tested by the washing machine water...it is holding so far.

Was it easy? No.
So called plumbing shops wanted to send out a plumber...next week...not sell me the parts.

End up at a builder's merchant's. Found my supplies there. Bought two. Cost me under £6. And a couple other bits in case...

But the parts were right, except my sink u bend and downpipe were imperial, and these parts are metric.

Finally I took the black rubber dimple ring out of the metric ring, watched you tube again where to place the black rubber ring on the pipe , and screwed up the original imperial sized screw ring in two seconds flat.

It took me an hour to get that far!

The worst part was trying to get out from under the sink....

I can now add plumbing to my skills ...

Absolutely brilliant - I already visualised the tricky bit - getting back up from under the sink. Bit of a cheek that plumbing shop.

Good morning everyone from what looks to be a fine day here in the dark and dangerous north. Pretty miserable yesterday but daughter and husband saved the day by inviting everyone over to sit in their hot tub. What fun. I wonder how long they will be able to keep going with it unless the price of fuel plunges and/or either Dumb or Dumber steps in with some brilliant plan of action once they get to be in charge of the number 10 cat (don’t hold your breath). Physio this morning and then down on the beach perhaps if that sunshine holds. Art bit - adding a bit of colour. Have a fabulous Friday. I shall now attempt to make some koffy.

Scaffold is now fully erected (at 10m high it is just possible to reach the loose barge board) and is equipped with hoist. It has taken two days to get both towers up. The taller one has been borrowed from a neighbour, saving us literally hundreds of euros. Thank you very much J&J. MrSlim has anchored both the towers to the house wall. I have not enjoyed watching the construction process. It is obvious that MrSlim is not as fit, flexible, agile or confident at height as he was, even a couple of years ago. Will be grateful to see the job safely concluded. Getting MrSlim to rest is almost impossible once he has started a job, however he has become more aware of needing to drink and will stop briefly for tea or squash.
@dunelm yesterdays blackouts were short, but frequent, leading to the reassuring use of a candle in our windowless shower room. However last night we experienced a spectacular and lengthy thunderstorm with torrential rain and power cut. Power was still off when we went to bed.
Freezer temp this morning -1. Have carefully refrained from opening the door and engaged fast freeze.
@gennepher well done you for the plumbing job successfully completed. MrSlim would agree with you about getting in and out of tight spaces. He must have forgotten how much of narrowboat living involves this kind of gymnastics and is eulogising canal life again. At 6ft 2in he is not made for small spaces.

Thank you very much Ian, and thank you for your positivity and belief in me in the first place @ianpspurs
I got a good nights sleep but I am aching like a decrepit old lady this morning...
But have a read of the reply I gave to @dunelm about me not being able to get back off the floor, and working something out so I can carry on with that plumbing job...

It was a blooming cheek of them...
It was the getting up and down that nearly defeated me.
I hang on to anything stable to pull myself back up. But after the 3rd time I couldn't do it any more. And I am really stranded on the floor. Then my brain reminds me that when I did self-defence, Aikido etc (in a past lifetime), to do a sharp out breath on the action part (the action part in this case summoning everything I had to be able to get up).
So I counted to 3 with sharp out breaths. On the third one was a very sharp out breath as I pulled myself up. And it was so easy (by comparison to before) with no pain or strain to my knees or bottom half of my body.

Why did that work so well? It was easier on my arms as well.

I was up and down another 3 times, using the same technique. I must remember that. It will save my bacon one day.

Sounds a good day in the hot tub @dunelm
They rescued the day.
Hope the physio goes well.
Love the finished Art bit.
I am imaging stories that are taking place out of sight of the viewer...

A good day overall @SlimLizzy

That is some saving of money on the scaffolding.
I wouldn't enjoy watching him do that either.

I fully get that we believe we can still do what we did 20 years ago. I am just as bad.
I think you are planning many tea breaks for him...

Thank you very much for your compliment. It was an achievement, without paying for the exorbitant plumbers prices, who no doubt would have made the job bigger than it needed to be.

I used to do canal boat living, and J and I were in the process of choosing a Liverpool firm to make our canal boat from scratch when he died. He was 20 years older than me and he was the workhorse for harder tasks like canal locks. Now I can only dream....

Hugs for your anxiety over Mr Slim doing this job.

Hello to you all from Breckland where it eventually became summer yesterday. Hopefully that is the case for a few more days or even weeks. Tyres, cakes and a meal with all three sons featuring a hefty part of a pig yesterday. I tested some cakes including my erstwhile favourite millionaires shortbread. Totally underwhelmed especially as R Turpin Esq seems to determine the price point but granddaughters had a wonderful time on the playground. Good news on the hot tub @dunelm and the cost can be a bone of contention for some couples - I'm led to believe:) Stunning art today, thank you so much. @SlimLizzy good to hear the tower is up, secured and Mr Slim is at least realising hydration is vital. @gennepher I'm glad you slept well and have the satisfaction of having solved two other problems - plumbing and getting up from the floor. Thanks for the tip. Last whole day with The Winchchester Crew, blood test and salmon salad day here. Hope the physio goes well @dunelm. Sad news about Bill Turnbull, this can't be said enough: mine isn't that. These guys deserve support IMHO. Have a great day but remember of what ye are made and what ageing does.

We get like that - our brain is convinced that we can jump and dive about - our bodies sigh and complain. Stopping for frequent drinks is always a good idea. Sorry to read about the blackouts.
