What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Thanks. Infusions are fine. Reclining chairs, tea, coffee and biscuits - I take my own CWC and LC supplies. Wifi and earbuds will give me access to football on BT today so all good. Marmite peanuts you say? Hmm. I like both. We do have ramekins but are they compulsory?

What sort of consultant? An endocrinologist? My GP would not refer me.

I need some help and have never posted to this forum so here I am. I have been doing well since diagnoses in March 2020 and am not at all overweight. But my t2 has suddenly spiralled out of control. I was 9.2 this morning after a cup of coffee with cream not milk. So no sugar. I eat no sugar or starchy food. Good vegetables and protein and healthy fat…No processed food at all…and here I am. Struggling. The only thing I’ve changed is I haven’t been walking like I used to because of a painful knee. But I’m not sedentary at all. Any advice?
 
Yeah @EF , my appointment is with an endo made through my doctor when first diagnosed also an eyes test and visit to a dietitian although I think I'm managing that well myself but will go as i may pick up more advice. Sorry to hear you going though bad time although your numbers are not overly high. I cut out nearly all carbs and sugar similar to yourself but ones I do eat I use the guide on diet doctor website . There is many op on here who have many more years experience managing their diabetes through diet alone may be able to advise you further. I would start another tread asking others for more advice and I'm sure you'll find some answers.

Perhaps I would be okay with them but I doubt it! Such a shame as they would remind me of salT and vinegar crisps - if I closed my eyes ;)

If i were facing similar situation and would have had all other variable equal my prime suspect would be some sort of infection / fever , cold cough and such that body might be fighting with... it could also be some kind of stress or poor sleep overnight but that won't cause consistently higher readings....but i would not rule those factors out as it may very well be a combination of all of those things - that in cahoots with dawn phenomena and 9.2 in such scenario would be a cause for celebration really atleast for me as it could very well go in double digits....

but that's just my personal experience and if there is one thing I have learnt in creating this illusion where I control the BG of my body, its that every single one of us has vastly different reaction to the myriad of variable that control and contribute to BG so what might work for me may not work that well or even not at all for someone else... we learn from our own experiments of the hit and miss variety inspired by shared experiences from others...

I hope the numbers get better for you soon...
 
Mine's always high on a morning at over 9 mmo/l after no food for 14 h. Think it must be this dawn effect where your liver spits out lots of glucose early morning. Am on metformin.

Forgot to say I also have a weird sleep pattern with 4 x more REM (dreaming sleep) than normal (measured on a machine that records EEG as well as the things measured by smart watches - junk for sleep stages). In REM, your brain is as active as when awake, so maybe this messes up glucose output

Good to hear its going well and you have your own supplies!! No ramekins compulsory but another type of portion control is highly recommended!
 
OK, by way of an experiment, instigated, initiated by a truly lousy insomniactic night, by 3am 6.7 (went to bed on a 9.5) and awake plus a snack. Repricked at 6am, 7.6, no Metformin yet, just a straight sample DATA POINT taken. What does this tell me? Looks like I’ve got a sustainable, workable plateau that I can live with.

And in other news: As we are pruning-out, downsizing our belongings, I took the insomniac induced opportunity to review upwards of 50 VHS tapes. Oh my eye, what a rubbish quality and dated film styles. Oh well, off to our local dump today.
