What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

MrSlim has just had a extremely upsetting phone call from his aunt. He has few relatives, she and his son are the only ones he is close too and he makes a big effort to see her every time we are in UK.
His aunt is an internationally recognised artist and we are both great admirers of her work, which is tiny and very detailed. She said that she was preparing for an exhibition and has discovered some original artworks are missing. Which is shocking - but worse she thinks that either I, or one of our sons has stolen them.
This is based on the fact that we are the only people she has had in her house since covid. One of our sons slept in the bedroom where the works are kept. She didnt actually accuse him, or me, but now both MrSlim and I are banned from the house. She will meet him (and me?) only in town now. MrSlim is devastated. This is such an important relationship to him.
We were both appalled when she first mentioned that some pictures had gone missing and asked who had them on Facebook. Knowing how cluttered her house is we both concluded that they were mislaid and would turn up. However we didn't realise that the post was aimed specifically at us. Aunt says that nobody else has been in her house.
We both know that once she has taken a position on something she holds to it. So thinking that the pictures are stolen she won't be searching for them and will probably believe to her dying day that one of my sons took them.
Aunt has a heart condition and has not been well enough to work on her art for some time. She says the shock and distress has exacerbated her health problems.
The exhibition has been cancelled.

Thanks for the compliments.
Hugs for joyous round of meds and temperature taking and naps and tea @ianpspurs
Sorry you had to miss a treatment.
Both of you get better quickly
xx
Thank you. JKP has been in bed since Tuesday evening and I have been leaving food and drink outside the room and sleeping in another bedroom. Obviously I either caught it from her before she was symptomatic or it came in via other family members. I have done well to avoid catching it thus far and at least now I have been vaccinated and offered treatment. I feel so sorry for those who were similarly at risk in the early stages and had none of those advantages. Take care.

Good morning everyone from the wonderful peace and quiet at the start of the day here in the dark and dangerous north. Lovely dinner out and catch up with Mrs Miggins last night. No more back pain course but I thoroughly enjoyed it and have plucked out several strategies to use, mainly stretching exercises and relaxation techniques - both seem to agree with me. Art bit - a sketchy outline, see how it goes. Have a Fab Friday if you can. I simply must make some koffy.

Great that you have got several strategies from your course that work for you and, of course, the strategies all work much better with koffy

Good morning everyone from the Brecks on the Feast of St Simon and St Jude, Apostles. I'm not sure one is meant to celebrate that by testing positive for COVID but I'll be a trend setter for once. NHS informed and will contact me regarding treatment. I was due to have some treatment today but obviously that is off. @dunelm good to know the course was helpful and you had a catch up with Mr Miggins over a lovely meal. Thanks for the art. @gennepher your creative captures the sun and palette this time of year superbly. Thank you. I think today will be one joyous round of tea, paracetamol, temperature taking and naps. The good or bad side of LC is there is absolutely nothing remotely like comfort food but we do have vast stores of tea and almond milk
Hope you get the Covid treatment quickly @ianpspurs and that it speeds up your recovery.

That is really horrible @SlimLizzy.

So sorry to hear that you have tested positive, Ian. Sorry too that you have had to miss a treatment but am hopeful that your bout of this nasty virus is fairly mild and won't keep you down for long. You may find that, if the illness itself isn't too bad, still you might feel very tired so, as we mentioned a day or so ago, listen to your body if it demands rest. Rest, fluids, paracetemol are all orders of the day. Take care. Prayers for protection, as always.

Hugs for all this distress for all of you @SlimLizzy
I can only hope the pictures turn up somehow and she realises her mistake
xx

That's awful, SlimLizzy. So upsetting for you and MrSlim and for his aunt. I assume the aunt is fairly elderly. Sometimes elderly people get very forgetful and quite frequently believe things are stolen when they are mislaid. Perhaps the artwork will turn up and she will realise that she was wrong. However, knowing the way some people's minds work, she may just assume you have been shamed into returning them. It's hard. I can't see that there is anything you can do about it, just be patient and hope she comes round. Hugs and prayers for all three of you, and MrSlim's aunt. I daresay she is pretty distressed as well.

Perhaps the poor woman has mental heath issues?

Good Morning Ladies and Gentlemen.

A lucky 6.7 on that meter this morning, I know what I ate and when I ate it, if I told you I would have to dispose of you.
.
Me, me’s and myself are sorry to read about @ianpspurs catching covid and wish him a speedy recovery and also about @SlimLizzy ‘s dilemma, I had a relative who had fixed view points, you have my full sympathy.
.
My posting over the next few day will be erratic things are going on here in Tilehurst Towers, pleasant things and unfortunately probably shoot my blood sugars, but one has live life.
.
Stay safe all

Hug for that distressing phone call. The only glimmer of hope is that she will still meet Mr Slim if only in town. Shame about the slur on your son.

FBG 6.5 but that was after taking a hefty correction dose around 11.45 last night to deal with BG of 16.1.

Neil felt well enough today to take the car in for its pre MOT check. He had intended to pick up Alistair's car near the garage, do some shopping and come home in that car. Unfortunately, DIL had left her car in Stornoway yesterday, for some reason, and needing Alistair's one today, leaving Alistair without a car (and so - Neil as well). On top of that, Alistair forgot to let Neil know. So Neil had to get the bus home - not the favourite option but unavoidable. Then, he had to walk the 1/4 mile from the nearest point the bus brought him. He has now collapsed back into his bed and will probably stay there for the rest of the day. Not the best first outing after having the virus. He probably shouldn't have gone in the first place - he wasn't really fit for it. He'll be better after a rest though, so no worries.

Sorry to hear that Neil's foray was so difficult but hopefully a rest will help.

Hope you both get over it quickly. It took me C. 8 days when they sent me home with it from hospital in the Spring. I guess I had it almost two weeks. I was banished to the other down stairs bedroom and prohibited from the kitchen under pain of banishment to the shed.:)

D.
Thanks. JKP seems - so far - to be worse affected but that may change. NHS have offered to deliver me tablets by taxi so that will be helpful. The potential banishment sounds harsh.
