I freeze potatoes, crumpets, anything carbs @AnnbAh well. Never mind. I've put a couple of slices in the freezer already, so it will be another failed experiment.
I think logs will be a nice Xmas gift @dunelm , then we won't have to burn our furniture...hang on, do we have wooden furniture...Good morning everyone from another overcast start here in the dark and dangerous north. Lots of talk of inflation now being above 11% and what with the world population now estimated at over 8 billion, best get your orders in for Christmas quickly. Of course, if you’re not that bothered, just wait until Christmas eve and get something from the local garage. Coal, logs and such like might make thoughtful gifts this year.
Art bit - colour added - no Idea why I used red, I shall blame it on November for whispering nine and coming in at a confusing eleven. What have the Romans ever done for us? Have the best day that you can. I must drink koffy and contemplate putting bins out tonight.

Had my slice of frozen/toasted bread, so the experiment is under way. Another half hour will get me to the 2 hours stage. At present BG is 8.6. Before breakfast it was 10.7, but it did that yesterday as well. We shall see.I freeze potatoes, crumpets, anything carbs @Annb
It does work for me.
But key is the portion control as well.
So, one crumpet, and not every day, every other day.
A very small portion of potato.
Again these kind of carbs only every other day.
Hope this helps x
Logs for Christmas would be a great idea. Might just follow up on that.I think logs will be a nice Xmas gift @dunelm , then we won't have to burn our furniture...hang on, do we have wooden furniture...
Scary finish to art bit...but effective...
Starlings have definitely moved in to the eaves here - a ventilator above the kitchen window fell out and we would replace it if only we knew that the birds weren't there. We waited for them to hatch their brood, then they came back and we thought maybe they had a second brood, but it appears not. the adult birds come and go frequently though, so I can only think tht they have decided it is a good place to spend the winter.Fbg 8.1
Still experimenting with foods.
The birds have started nicking the cat food again (like they did last winter).
I forgot the other day to mention the pair of blackbirds (male&female) that also fly with the sparrows. It is a motley assortment of birds, but they seem to comprise the 'family' of birds that will inhabit my garden this winter. And they all get on, bar an occasional squabble among the sparrows.
On YouTube is my latest wildlife nighttime trail cam video.
The way the cat, Midnight, starts expanding his back, making himself even bigger, you can tell he is getting ready to hiss and clout the fox. But the fox sensibly is wary and backs away...but keeps a constant watchful eye open for that cat now he has vanished.
Creative is a digital painting in Procreate.
Two brushstrokes were used - Snowgum and Leatherwood.
I woke up ate this morning, cats and birds were waiting for food (one of these days those sparrows will come pecking at the window when the fatballs run out). And the new kid on the block - ghost cat number 2. It is a tiny skinny thing, bedraggled. And has suffered in the rain recently. She (?) is a much older cat (9/10?) and waits at the kitchen door for breakfast. Finally I made a shelter by the kitchen door where she can sit in the dry, and eat in the dry.
I need a cuppa and a nap after sorting this lot out.
It is like running a zoo...
Have a good day.

Something nice and warm beckons from the far end of the corridor, reflecting on the ground and inviting you in. Is it a trap? Will something open up in the floor when you stand on it? Will something drop down from that sloping, ruined roof? Be very wary.Good morning everyone from another overcast start here in the dark and dangerous north. I always thought that starlings stayed together in flocks and roosted together in trees, where they could, but this pair seem to be odd-bods. Quite suitable then that they have decided to take up residence with us. In recent years, the variety of birds coming here seems to be diminishing - even the sparrows are fewer in number than they used to be. We are left with crows, those few sparrows, a thrush or 2 a couple of blackbirds and the starlings. Oh yes, and greylag geese, of course earlier in the year. I did see a robin a few weeks ago, but it disappeared again. We don't even see gulls any more - the big black backed gulls used to nest in the field across from our kitchen window but it must be a couple of years at least since I've seen one. We also used to watch dog-fights between herring gulls and crows, but no more - the crows have the field to themselves. Haven't seen a waxwing for years - they used to come in regularly and strip our cotoneaster bushes of berries. Haven't seen a rock dove or a collared dove this year either. Don't know where they've all gone.Yes, those starlings have adopted you, lock stock and barrel @Annb
