What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Looks like Thor the Walrus gave you a miss, Dunelm, he went out to sea in Yorkshire and has come in at Blyth in Northumberland and been on a floating pontoon for most the day. I assume it's the same one.
Seems to be and was previously spotted down south and now continuing north - no sign yet of the carpenter.

Creative - I had planned on a ZenBrush3 painting, but I needed a little painting for a snail mail letter I wrote this morning. So, this is what I created for my pen friend. And I haven't got all my art materials back together yet, so this was cobbled together with a gel print I did at the beginning of lockdowns 2030, ordinary felt tip pens, some Tippex for the moon.

So, during January, at least, will be a combination of digital ZenBrush3 painting, and any little art sketches I create with whatever materials I have to hand. Just whatever I feel like that day.

Time for a cuppa and a quick nap...

Have your best kind of day!

Smashing piece of mixed media, your pen friend will love it.

Good morning everyone from a miserable looking start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. Spikey Mikey was 5.2 this morning and I need to take a blood pressure reading in a short while - before koffy. Hospital appointment today for an echocardiogram. I have been told that I will need to undress to my waist, put on a gown, be squirted with gel and then probed while laying on my left hand side as the lights are turned low. All this absolutely free on the NHS - some folk would pay good money for such a niche experience. Anyhow, art bit. Not sure about this but it’s run it’s course so onwards and upwards. Have as wonderful a day as you can and remember that this is the month to prune your apple and pear trees - an easy task, especially if you don’t have such things in your garden. Koffy, where is that koffy.

Had a really good day yesterday sorting through cupboards. We are shortly off to a charity shop - hopefully they will want the stuff. We are also taking our Christmas cards as Cancer Research reuse them. I think that they make gift tags from them.
Good tip about Cancer Research reusing Christmas cards - thanks.

And to think, if the NHS folds & we go insurance model

It couldn't be very much more then a few pound a month ..... :hilarious:

Morning team.

No strips so no testing
But on order.

Car for MOT today.
Not used much this year, but still a little prayer all is ok and almost painless if not .

Lauren back at work today.
So free to do as I please.

Rain expected 10am for several hours, so a little DIY & exercise seems the order of the day.

Seems the MSM are reluctantly waking up to the horror of the crumbling NHS.
(Guess some things even THEY can't ignore or gas light )

After a year like last year, I'd be horrified at the costs I would have incurred.

And forever grateful for the care, help & kindness I received, even when things didn't go as smoothly as hoped.

For all it's faults it's ours
And now is the time to defend it.

Once we lose it, it's gone forever .

Quite apart from the apparently high monthly insurance fee, what about those who are either refused insurance or have access denied because of the high cost? And what about those with multiple lives depending on one income?

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and 2023’s Neanderthals a much maligned race.

Blood sugars this morning were a sprightly mince pie flavoured 6.3, thankfully now gone along with the other goodies and decorations.

I have nipped on to this thread a few times, but refrained from posting, therefore have missed a lot of the posts and have no intentions of catching up, no apologies offered.
I hope you all had a good festive break, now wasn’t that very woke ( yuk ) worded?
Relax, I have not seen the woke light.

Mrs J and me, me’s and myself had a discussion over the Christmas break about renewing our marriage vows it went something along these lines….

Alf “ In 2023 let’s reaffirm our marriage vows ? “
Mrs J “ that’s really nice, how romantic, “

Alf “ I’d like to make one small change though. “
Mrs J wearily “ yes what’s that? “

Alf “ Just to the wedding vows, only a small bit. “
Mrs J a bit more cautiously this time “ yes and what would that be? “

Alf “ the love, cherish, honour and obey bit. This time I would like you when we get to the obey bit not to say stuff that and kick the vicar. “

Needless to say we won’t be reaffirming our wedding vows in 2023.

Now if it’s ok I shall continue drinking safety koffy, while planning important things for me, me’s and myself to do today.

Stay safe all.

You mean, I have to prune my orchard this month @dunelm?

I hope the echocardiogram goes well.

The sinister staircase which returns one back to the beginning again...

Good luck with the car's MOT @jjraak

Good morning everyone from a dull man in a dull part of Suffolk. @gennepher thanks for sharing both the video and creative. If anyone can find a way to eek out a win you can and you did by creating such a colourful piece despite all the obstacles. @jjraak best wishes for the MOT, for Lauren and everyone else returning to work. I'm another grateful beyond words for the NHS. Almost all key services are broken just now either by design, refusing to accept where dogma will end or something more malign. @dunelm thanks for sharing the completed artwork which looks imposing but reassuringly sturdy. Spikey Mikey did you proud this morning so you must be doing all the right things. Best wishes for the echo cardiogram. For my pre-treatment MOT mine was on a Sunday at the private Cambridge Heart Clinic which is in Addenbrookes Hospital. Tea, coffee upmarket biscuits and top of the range facilities but as an NHS patient. @Krystyna23040 thanks for the Christmas cards tip if they do take them. Today's poem. Will the rain hold off here for the exciting trip to the waste recycling facility?

BG's all over the place this morning. Started with my Lib re refusing to read data from the sensor - kept saying try again in 10 minutes. On the 4th attempt it told me that the sensor haqd come to the end of its time - it should have had 2 days left. Changed the sensor and so had to wait an hour before it would give a reading. Just as well I have the old Aviva monitor and some test strips left. It reckoned my BG was 10.4. It usually agrees with the Libre within a couple of points.

Took insulin and had another ham sandwich. I can prepare that sitting down but legs are not good enough to stand at the hob and make bacon and eggs at the moment. I was going to try to put the bins out but had to say to Neil that I couldn't do it only to be told that I couldn't anyway - it was already done. Good lad! The bin lorry didn't come so I've just checked the council website and they won't come until the 10th. Shame! Usually they come as usual at Christmas (Christmas has never been a big thing on this stgrictly Presbyterian island) but this year they seem to have changed everything and accepted the mainstream decision. Worse - I will have to change all the bin days on my calendar because this puts them all out by a week.:(

I think we will be pretty much priced out of it completely…
Exactly.

Like bus routes.
Only the easy profitable ones, wanted.

The rest left to wither away.

And for all those who think because they are healthy or rich enough Now, it will always be so .

Very sadly deluded in the majority of cases.

What happened to Brexit and the bus with 350 million per week being put into the health service rather than the EU?
