B: 2 tablespoons of egg mayo
Walk with a friend
L: half a Scotch egg, egg mayo on lettuce. 4 quarters of macaron. Spoonful greek yoghurt with tablespoon milled seeds
Another walk
Mid afternoon, hungry so had cheese and olives.
D: roast chicken, courgette, sprouts, carrot/swede. 4 more quarters macaron ( the salted caramel was great but the blackcurrant was sublime. Just as well there was only one of each flavour.) All 16 gone now, most into the boys.

@AndBreathe and @Annb I ordered one of those just 2 days ago! ( unfortunately I don’t hide sewing or anything else under my bushel ) 2 daughters have them and say they’ve been a godsend in the cold weather.
Much better controlled eating today. I started slow roasting a shoulder of lamb around 8am and that helped to warm the house too.
Brunch was 2 fried eggs ( got a new non stick pan, it’s an absolute joy to make fried eggs now) plus grilled bacon and DGF wrap.
Linner the above mentioned lamb, puréed swede, broccoli cheese, buttered cabbage and sprouts with bacon. Cheese without crackers to follow.
@ravensmitten I think carb addiction is very real and is a good way to approach this. Have you seen Jen Unwin’s book: Fork in the Road ? You might find it interesting and insightful.

Brunch - 3 scrambled cheesey eggs. Mug of earl grey tea & less than half a bar of aldi moser roth 85% - did someone say on here earlier that there was now a 90% available in this chocolate?

Dinner - Chilli salmon & prawn cocktail with a large side salad, I also added some glaucamole that was lingering in the fridge. Dessert was some kefir with mixed berries

Neil found a tub of pea soup in the freezer for me. Still waiting for it to defrost in a pan and getting very hungry. Grabbed a few more slices of the thin cut ham to keep me going. BG 5.6 just now. At least I'm managing to get across to the hob now, so that's an advance. The 5.6 is a step forward as well.

Later I will make a kind of mash with the haggis mixture and some onions and tomatoes. Not sure how it will turn out, but it will be edible, I should think. Will also make a crustless quiche to leave ready for breakfast so I don't grab a carb in desperation.
Doing something right. BG has stayed between 3.4 and 5.6 all day, and that's on vastly reduced amounts of bolus insulin. The pea soup wasn't particularly low carb nor was the haggis mixture. The only possible factor of change is the timing of the basal insulin. Still at 3.30 am so far. Hope it doesn't put iot all wrong again if I manage to get it back to before midnight. Not that it makes too much difference if I have to keep it in the early hours - I'm up then anyway.

You also had a no carb breakfast instead of bread because of the mold, this could be a factor as well. Still, I wouldn't expect the effect to last all day.
I'm having a couple of significantly reduced bolus days as well, for me it's partly my period (not applicable in your case I hope) and partly just one of those unexplainable diabetes things.

First meal was a low carb wrap with cream cheese, fried sucuk and arugola, second meal was a wrap with a lot more filling plus some on the side with shawarma, onion, bell pepper, spicy garlic sauce and arugola.
Midnight meal of chicory with hummus and pork scratchings or chocolate to follow.

I was just about to reply to your post about the new pan, new pans are just the best for frying eggs!

- then I saw you mentioned me :0). No, I haven't seen that sounds like it might be interesting, Thank you I will look that up in the morning.

Today:

Meal 1: 3 Bacon, 2 Eggs and a tomato fried in the bacon fat, handful of spinach,

Couple of spoonfuls of plain yoghurt

Meal 2: More spinach, feta, mixed herbs and a few toasted sesame seeds & black pepper. Couple of pickled gherkins and 3 cold cuts of roast turkey.

I'm a big lad so that doesn't seem like that's much food for me in a day, but I don't ever seem to be hungry eating like this,

Also feel so much better in myself.

For food addiction, have a watch of this video. It’s entertaining and shows you arent alone:

Wouldn’t you like to take it up: sewing? As someone with 5 machines, plus a vintage (and I sold a machine last month), I could lead you in all manner of expensive ways.

<definitely losing my touch here …….. >

That is so, but in the last few days, even with a carby breakfast, BGs have been going low.

Not for the last 30 years, Antje. Gone, not forgotten and not missed!

Crustless quiche for breakfast - would be quiche Lorraine if it had a crust. BG started at 6.5 at 3.50 am but after a cup of tea it is up to 7.6. Keeping an eye on it. Not ready to have breakfast yet.

2 more meals to have today. Black pudding, probably with egg, will be one. Salmon with some salady stuff will be the other.

Thank you you lovely people, very useful. Shall set aside some time later to absorb

I even see it in my child, she'll go for the carby stuff on the plate first and leave everything else until after. or later say she is hungry for a snack and when offered something that isn't carby she'll say she wasn't hungry in the first place.

Aside from the emotional thing, I'd say (just guessing) of course it's a real thing and some of it comes from surviving in the past. Adapting to getting the hi energy foods when and where you could, and that would make you feel good so you'd do it again, where famines were around and people were poor, and you'd adapt to that. Just that some of us haven't had that situation looming over our heads for a while where there's an abundance of food for a lot of people now.

That and it doesn't immediately seem as bad to reach for slice of cake when you've had a crab day, insidious though as it takes a while to take a toll.

Will have a read and watch of that thread and video.

Edit: to keep it to one post.

Morning all. Computer finally mended so back with you. I'm fasting today for as long as possible because I've had a very disturbed night with an horrendous tummy upset. But I have some beef in the slow cooker just in case I need to eat. It's really nice to be back, I've missed you all.
Missed you too Rosemary. Glad your computer is working now and good to see you back. Hug for the tummy upset but hope you feel better soon.

I never seem to get around to doing the sewing jobs I need to, never mind extra ones. I have one of my sewing machines in a box beside my desk ready for me to put the laptop away and lift the machine up, but it never happens. The other one is stuck away at the back of a cupboard in my bedroom with all sorts of fabrics piled on top, waiting for some kind of action. Might leave them to DIL in my will! Unlikely to be used before then. DIL is an excellent seamstress, as it happens. Very talented women my DIL.

BG still keeping within a reasonable range despite a smaller dose of insulin than usual. For some reason I am hungry with the crustless quiche I had for breakfast (and after it gave me indigestion) so I will definitely be having egg and black pudding shortly and must remember to get the salmon out of the freezer for tonight.
