Hi, I’m Michelle (chelle) type 1 for 27 years maybe more? That I didn’t know I had.

4 injections a day and more if need a correction.

So I rebelled and hated being diabetic type 1 for years and years and abused my body. Didn’t listen to anyone.

Untill 2018 and 2019 I had kidney failure and was admitted into hospital in a coma (I was told) so came out with, nerve damage in my feet and legs, hands, scare on my kidney and I’ve had to have my right eye lasered once, left eye now 3 times as the damage is STILL, coming out.

Oh my hcb1 was 130! Now I’ve got it down to 62! Still some way to go.

My only regret is NOT looking after myself all them years

I am a type 1 since boxing day, ended up in hospital and was well on the way to ketoacidosis. Amazing hospital out within 48hrs. Got a handle on this bumming along at 5.4 mmol

You are doing brlliantly. Please don't be discouraged if your levels go out of range. (I'm still learning after 53 years of it),

Thx for the kind words, first month was horrendous, but I’m a rapid learner and have been 100% in range for 49 days now. The most challenging is the lows caused when hiking,but I’m finding the way to manage it. The only way it appears to work for me is to have a low carb breakfast requiring no insulin, take onboard about 30 carbs before the hike and I’m good to go for about an hour. Beyond that it drops again and I need more carbs. I’m only on 3 units of lantus at night and 0.5 units per 15 grams carbs

I'm generally not a person who uses forums and posts a lot. As a rule I always listen to others and be supportive and constructively (appropriately) helpful.

I've had Diabetes for about four and a half years and found myself unable to tolerate oral medications. So I am injecting numerous times a day.

Hi all.
I'm Stuart, 53 from the U.K. Was diagnosed out of the blue just last week during a basic health check. My head is still in a whirl. At 5 ft 11 and 170lbs I was ignorant to my chances of getting diabetes. I'm certainly learning fast.

I've been started on Metformin last Friday (one per day, increasing over the next 3 weeks by one per day) and saw my practitioner for the first time yesterday.

Still to have a few extra tests before concrete type 2 is confirmed. Head still spinning. Got a feeling I've way overdone the exercise and I'm still finding my way on what to eat so far. But hey, I'll get there.

Hi all. My name is Tiger. I'm Irish living in The netherlands for the past uarter of a century. I have a wife, a 10 year old son and a pomsky. between the 4 of us we are the life and soul of the town we reside in. I was diagnosed diabetic a few years ago and have been trying to manage it with diet only. I wasn't really succeeding until I started using a glucose monitor and now that I can see the extreme readings I get I have started to pay more attention to diet and so far (its only been 2 weeks) glucose levels are under control.
