What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

They are ashore and waiting at the ferry terminal for their lift! Brilliant.

Hug for your today Ian. That must have been such a shock for you. My prayers are with you, as always. Nothing will change what has happened, but maybe some strength to bear the unbearable will come to you.
Good news for you @Annb. Even at the time I was calm and saw it as God's will. Dad would have been inconsolable thinking he had let mum down if she had died first. In another plot twist my uncle was heavily involved in the local Baptist church and pulled some strings to make things work as I wanted. Almost a year to the day he died and is buried beside my parents. I obviously saw his grave this morning as I always do but just a little more moving today. @gennepher thanks. I had the words inseparable in life, inseparable in death engraved on the headstone. It is always a healing thought reading that.

At long last!
I will just keep doing what I am doing...

Wildlife nighttime videos.
Cat, Midnight, in bad mood with Fox & Badger all through the night

Cat Midnight is defending the wrong place, he should be guarding the new cat flap, not outside on the swing so zealously. The tin foil bowl of wet food, and the tin foil bowl of dry food had completely gone. Not just the contents, the whole bowl as well. Cats don't carry whole bowls of food away. Not one bowl was spilt between where they were picked up nor when the animal negotiated the small cat flap (I had installed a small cat flap to deter woodland creatures...). And outside the kitchen door, there was no sign of these tin foil bowls. Who or what? I think something has a growing family to feed. But who would be cunning enough?

Finally I closed my mouth, my jaw had dropped seeing this.
I need a new trail camera...or two. One on the swing doesn't always work properly.

Midnight is still guarding the dry cat biscuit food supply on the swing. The stray cats are allowed a small feed each, and then he narrows his eyes as if to say enough, leave now. I can see all this from my bed...

Oh dear, black cat Amy has just come into my bedroom, jumped on my bed. First time she has done that. She is very light footed, unlike Midnight who's power in his paws leaves bruises on my legs.

She wanted me to follow her into the kitchen, so I did. But it wasn't food she wanted. It was as if she wanted me to see her guard the inside of the cat flap. It's like she's set herself as the guardian of the inside of the cat flap...

I smell trouble ahead. I left her to it...

They are cats, let them slug it out. Midnight has brute force, Amy has cunning. She is a fraction of the size of that Puma like Midnight, but she is not scared of him.

The animal soap opera continues...

Creative, was of my clematis flower, but although it was a lovely beautiful delicate painting, and I liked it very much, but I decided to work on it with the same technique as I did with those latter ghost lighthouses, and I am absolutely delighted with the result. Why am I so delighted? It reminds me of the paintings on cotton black velvet I used to do. And I always loved doing these. I need to track down some more cotton velvet..

I have a problem, I need at least 7 of me to do everything I want to do in a day...

I need a nap and a cuppa...or rather cuppa then a nap.

Changed my mind, making a coffee with double cream...

No one told me it was a bank holiday today...but what difference does it make to my life? Absolutely pouring out there. I have a four inch paddling pool outside my bedroom door...or rather a 4 inch moat...it'll drain away as soon as the rain stops...no sandbags needed...

Have your best day...

Smashing effect. Very delicate.

Morning all on a poignant day for me. The dambusters was so important to me on Saturday as dad loved that story, he did his NS in the RAF. Ten years ago today both my parents died - dad was a shock. Both seemed normal when I visited as usual the previous evening. Mum's carer couldn't get in so phoned police. They gently prized open the patio doors and found him dead in bed. She was taken to the local hospital by ambulance but by the time I had travelled to thier house, finished with legal business and got to the hospital she had also died. Doctors ushered me into a room so it was obvious Parents (and mine at the time) doctor was convinced mum had consciously decided to join him. He could see no reason for her to die from his latest visit. Difficult having MIL here and not thinking wish they were here. Whole armour of God needed but I'm only human and as Leonard Cohen says there is crack in everything (man made). A day that will always remind me that things can change in a (lack of a) heart beat. I took early retirement as soon as possible. So, an early start and drive out to their grave. Wet grass, beautiful sunshine, memories. Interestingly, I met a man who had been a professional boxer, excellent cricketer (played with dad, myself and my son) and footballer now shuffling along with a walking stick - very sobering. Son and grandchildren will be round later plus I will have my coronation quiche - salmon and asparagus, obs. @gennepher great news on the lower fbg and thanks for the creative. @Annb I hope your brother manages to see you.
Very poignant indeed and a time to reflect. Thoughts are with you. Take care.

Thanks. There is/was some humour. I drink a lot of tea but that day even I thought just how much tea do these people think I can drink?. Informed family personally as in a small village, tight links to so many longstanding families, police cars and undertakers soon set tongues wagging, rumours spread and later accusations of having to find out from someone else. Forgot to thank you for sharing the art.

At last signs that sun may come out for the end of the day. After some decent days today has been very wet in Cumbria.

A friend from church brought us some Coronation cake at lunch time which was very kind, I didn't eat enough to cause blood glucose issues, but I didn't say no to bit of icing.
D.

Evening.

All good in da hood here.

Fbg earlier a satisfying 5.8.

Ebike back in use

New chain fitted & a little tinkering and clean while it was off road means it feels faster & more responsive.

Didn't have bike computer on Ebike yesterday on way into work
So was rather amused one of those sad face/happy face speed signs clocked me at 28 mph
(Electric cuts out at 15mph ) & I didn't feel I was pedalling anywhere near that fast . :hilarious:

Had cycling app turned on, on the mobile tho'

Checked that later in day & it recorded max speed as 25mph...so maybe speed thingy wasn't that far off ...mmhh.

Anyway, it was an enjoyable 5 miles in, ( more speedy so as not to be late) then on way home a more relaxing meander in the evening sunshine.

Such a shock for you.

Only human to be wishful, mate.

Saw a quora post which summed up such love & devotion.

The gist was Kids worry about dad when mum passes

Dad confesses to being grateful

As he knew how distressing it would be for mum, being the one left behind to plan his funeral, and continuing a life alone, without him.

He happily bore that heavy, weary, lonesome burden for her.

Understanding Such love, doesn't come easy to those who aren't 'in' that zone.

A tragic loss for you Ian.
But perhaps the relief from years of pain for mum, is the only comfort you could possibly take from that.

A fitting epitaph to add to the grave headstone, imho.

Wonderful time with daughter and family over the weekend. We had a lovely day at Melsop Farm Park yesterday. The grandchildren loved bottle feeding the lambs and meeting all the other animals and birds. Sadly they went home today. The house is so quiet now.
How marvellous to share such moments with the grandchildren.

I remember such moments with our Steph, the rapture like excitement interacting with animals at our our local city farms & park zoos.....love it.

The delightful of gleeful noises, then the silence when they depart, ...i get that.

Hopefully they'll be back soon enough to re-create their own little chittery chattery whirlwind of joyous noise once again.

Morning all on a wet start to take the bunting down day here - our's went down yesterday. Four year old granddaughter took the flag for her Coronation memory box. Sorry if I overshared yesterday - a unique set of circumstances this year and I've been given a mind to reflect on things (boys does it do that) - but thanks for the kind comments. Today a new Swipey will arrive (why 2 sms voice messages?) - so a few trials of recipes from a new book can begin. JKP likes Moussaka so that is one for sure (9 gms carb per portion). After the reflections of yesterday we have our youngest grandchild twice this week, today and Thursday. Two school collections for his two cousins today and tomorrow. Nice counterpoint. If the weather is as wet as promised this may well be no mow May by default. @gennepher I hope the normal normal returns. @Annb hug for the hypo but I hope your brother made it and you had a wonderful catchup.

Brother and SIL got here around 11.30 so we had 31/2 hours together. It was wonderful to see them. Brother is not as steady on his feet as he would have had me believe on the phone, but he's still looking pretty good considering. He really could have done with a walking stick, but the crew on tghe ship weren't allowing anyone with any walking problems, get onto the tender (too choppy and unsteady) so he left his stick behind and managed without.

After a prolonged hypo in the afternoon, my BG eventually came up to 7.1 when I went to bed. 8.9 at 4.30 this morning when I got up and 11.4 now. House is ready for my cleaner to come and do the floors so I have time for some breakfast (low carb) and to do the dishes from yesterday, which I had just left where they were.

SIL told me that they were waiting at the appointed meeting place in Stornoway and a very tall youngish man appeared from nowhere and stood by them. She felt he was a bit close and, it made her uncomfortable so she said to him "We're just waiting for someone." With a sweet smile, the young man said, "I think you'll find that is me." Typical Neil. Nobody ever hears him approach - he just seems to materialise. And he doesn't speak first. Seems to think that thoughts are enough but most people are not telepathic. He does tend to disturb people once they do see him.

Still in the 7's!

Wildlife nighttime cameras
Cat Merlin's night...
Merlin is not fazed by being within a metre of the fox on the ground...Merlin just sits there...and lets the fox know who is boss...
Even Midnight does not go on the ground to challenge the fox, he launches an attack from above...

Creative is a something in my garden. I have no idea what it is or where it came from. I keep trying to dig it up and get rid of it, but it refuses to leave me. But the other day a friend tells me it is

"Tellima grandiflora

fringe cups"

A shade loving plant that costs about £6 for a tiny little plantlet.
Really....

Have your best day.
Cuppa needed...
