What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good morning everyone from a cool and overcast start here in the dark and dangerous north. Synchronised wheelbarrow operations yesterday and the shipment of more that 23million bits of pea grave where moved to their intended location at the bottom of the garden. I don’t know who counted them but it must have been weigh 100 and multiply up but that’s only a guess. Art bit, nearly done. Have a good a day as you can manage. My koffy mug is now empty.

7.7 this morning. Yesterday the weather forecast was completely wrong here and we had a long drawn out and severe thunderstorm.

Today Archie has improved even more. He did a nice long walk and then started chasing Poppy around the house. He is now snoring on his bed in the conservatory. Last week we thought that maybe his life was coming to an end, but we were wrong - he is not ready to go yet.

Today our computer people are increasing size of my computer hard drive and RAM and looking at why our second computer isn't achieving full super fast broadband speed. Luckily I did so much admin yesterday there isn't too much to do today.

Wow! Glorious image.

French Canadian?
Perhaps......you have to watch the French, they nearly changed the outcome of the Falklands war with their Exocets and fast fighters sold to the Argentinians.
Talking about equivalence of lives lost at sea I don't think Thatcher should have sent all those young men on the General Belgrano to the bottom of the South Atlantic.

Good Morening Gadies and Lentlemen, does this greeting satisfy the gender confused? Shhh , but I don’t really care.

Blood sugars this morning were 5.8, after run of low readings and my tweaking my evening insulin dosage I’m happy with this, but what my A1c will be is a mystery and not to be conserned about.

To be continued

Out to check on Little Miss Sparrow before allowing Kiki access to the back garden. Can't see her or Pa sparrow, so am hoping she is off into her life now.
Kiki did go up the nearest tree after a sparrow, one of many here, but of course it flew away, so she came down and went racing after a nearby redstart which was also giving out alarm calls. Of course that flew away as well. Then Kiki seemed to realise there is easier prey and went to hang out by a vole colony, but she wasn't hungry and soon came over to where I was planting out tomatoes for a game of tag.
MrSlim has started on his next project. Renovating the potting shed, which is a concrete block structure with a corrugated pressed fibre roof, slightly damaged by a falling tree. There are vegetable beds on three sides, so far the damage to plants has been minimal, but MrSlim sustained some injururies, best described as lacerations to his forearms, when the beam he was attempting to remove was firmly attached and brought down some of the wall as well. We dressed the wounds and bandaged them. Then he went back to continue with the demolition. The damage to the wall has added at least a week to the job , which seems to be all he is concerned about. Now it requires a scaffold to be placed in two of my vegetable beds...
I could scream

I think on that, Derek.
I'd have to differ

Had similar conversation last night re Ukraine that evolved into the bombing of Japan.

I think it has ever been thus

If a fist doesn't stop the enemy assault, get a knife ..

If a knife blah blah
Gun
Cannon
Bomb.

Can't judge such things with post event eyes, I think.

At the time, millions were being slaughtered/sacrificed in WW11.

In a much smaller battle, British troops were in harms way in the south Atlantic

Taskforce ships being attacked & sunk.

If you pick a fight with another nation, I think you have to expect that nation to do whatever it can to protect the very troops it sends to perform offensive duties.

Does it make it right...each decides .

I do know if it was my son's or daughters sent into harm's way on the nations behalf,
I'd expect all possible & potential threats to their lives evaluated & taken out.

I think that's the least such bravery & duty deserves.

Morning

Busy little week so far.

BG stuck in the 7's.. (7.6 today)

Eye tests (opticians) say the vision in left eye deteriorated, which I suspected might be macular degeneration (cheers Google :arghh: )

Turns out optician states it's erm, some sort of stretch mark on the eye.

I felt relieved at the DX.
Letter for GP to see if they can arrange macular specialist to look at it & suggest remedies .
(Seem a simple op with no concerns....or not , depending what you read ).

Once finished at opticians popped into work (it's nearby).
And once I realised they had a major issue offered to stay a few hours to help out.

Add in gym rehab last night (very light session due to fatigue)

I came home cream crackered, so today's going to be a rest day.

Hope all are as well as can be expected today.

Mmhh.

Saw this, a real issue for me now (paying to park . outrageous, said the biker ..lol )

Apps insists on verifying My bank (nationwide)...which I do .

Then instructions are to close & continue back on app, which I do.

Only for app to close and make me start over.... repeatedly happens ...:banghead::banghead::banghead:

Have a metro bank card, use it for holidays etc

Brainwave to link to that, parking just works now each time .yippee.

Anyway, this post stirred that tip that others might find useful.

Remember Skynet is sneaky, it has many ways to make us bow, scrape & serve it .

BBC News - More than 20 councils replacing pay and display parking machines with apps

I don't think their asset was much use other than for training and could have been disabled without being sunk. How much of the iron lady image came into this to get her another term?

Perhaps not but at the time The General Belgrano together with the 25th de Mayo and it’s aircraft were a massive threat. The sinking persuaded the Argentinians to return their carrier to port and use it’s aircraft to protect Buenos Aires from the threat of potential Vulcan strikes. We had very few aircraft down there which were worked very hard but had the 25th de Mayo stayed at sea, things might have been very different.

Tricky one. It was only hit by two old torpedoes. Pretty minimal I think but the previously fired modern ones failed. In conflict you aim for the centre of the body. It’s nothing fancy but it works. I have been in three armed conflicts, four if you count the streets of Belfast - I would sooner the politicians be given clubs and used as gladiators if they can’t sort themselves out.
