What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

After the hottest June we seem to be having the coldest July, it's expected to reach the dizzy heights of 15 Deg C today.

Off to Carlisle this pm, Marjorie has an appointment with dermatology.

There appears to moves afoot to let the health service fail and to structure a new model.
Can any political party survive such a revision of service provided?

Phytic acid, is one of those ingredients in wheat and other grains and seeds. It is not bad in small doses, but too much, when it is not properly treated, causes health issues. It is mainly in plants, but associated with all grains, many seeds and starchy veg.
If your regular dietary intake, is something akin to toast in the morning, sandwiches for lunch, spuds with bread, came for after then the amount of Phytic acid over the years is bound to have an adverse impact on your health.
And it doesn't matter what type of wheat or grains you use. Or wether it is wholegrain, wholemeal seeded, or whatever else there is.
But like everything else, too much of a (good!) thing is bad for you and me!

The biggest problem with modern diet, is that it seems that everything is made with a version of flour from some grain or other!

Stay safe.

It is now very windy and cold, is it autumn?? At least the rain has gone for now!
Thank you for this information @Lamont D

Good morning everyone on a bright, sunny and breezy start here in the dark and dangerous north. 5.1 this morning - how nice. The roses in the front garden have gone mental, one, a yellow one (fancy name unknown) is already up at about 5ft. It will have to be cut right back one the flowers are finished. I shall cut a few and put them in a vase but that might encourage more growing and flowering. I cut it right back in the autumn and did a real savage job on a pink one next to it but up they come. They came with the house so no idea about names, nor care really. Jobs today include lazing about, doing a bit of art, some more lazing about and probably a walk into town and back just to check that the distance is still the same (the universe is expanding at a very fast rate according to expanding universe watchers). Art bit - start of something a bit more “outdoors”. Have a day of days, we all have less time than we think and with the latest carbon saving option of boil in the bag funerals, I may need to revise my DNR instructions. Koffy, best have some more koffy.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and the doom mongers that infest the media in all it’s forms, come the revolution they should be the first up against the wall.

Blood sugars this morning were a respectable 5.9, hmmm respectable me, me’s and myself that would be a first, second and third.

Mrs J and all of me, me’s and myself have plans for today, approved plans also. These plans will involve copious amounts of tea and koffy with possibly a small amount of medium carb fodder, we shall see on the fodder.

Well fellow posters and painters enjoy your day, bark at the postman, speak to strangers and embrace the straight jacket when it arrives.

Stay safe, now I must depart to pastures where realities blur, koffy flows and sanity medication is dispensed from one of those old fair ground bubble gum machines.

Good luck on the hospital visit.

Morning all from L.A. where it is dry just for a change - or perhaps not. @dunelm how very George Jones but more cheery. JKP likes roses, me not so much. Not at all if I'm honest but we have two in memory of her dad and sister so I'm happy to help those flourish. Thanks for sharing the art again. I too have a busy day. Telephone appointment giving the go ahead for my next cycle of drip trips done - clarified I only? need bloods every 4 weeks now. Next there will be/is (always) tea then limbering up for a trip to the recycling centre. @lindisfel best wishes for you and Marjorie for the trip and appointment. As for the NHS, sounds like the rest of the imaginary millions on a bus side, 100% on it, judge me on my outcomes guff. @Krystyna23040 is that temp diary secretary in for a few days? Have whatever colour day you desire - I'mma go for full on beige.

Significant date for my brother, in hospital for an op. He says not to worry, but of course I do...
MrSlims injuries are healing slowly. Still needing dressings and bandages. Must go and buy more.
Kiki has been out all night. We didn't see the Tabby Tom yesterday so am now sure it was him she was avoiding.
The tomatoes seem to be breeding. Last time I counted had 85. Some have been given away, but by today's count there are 101 plants. MrSlim suggests composting some. It might come to that as have not enough room to plant out all.
I hope your brother's op goes well. I know only too well the stress involved when a loved one has to have serious surgery. Hope, followed by fear, then more hope and pain when recovery seems to falter and, at last joy when recovery is certainly under way. Hug for both your brother and you.

Back from Glasgow by 7.30 pm. It was a long day and absolutely exhausting for both DIL and myself. It is going to take a while to recover from it. It was confusing and at times difficult but it was a lovely day. DIL is a great source of fun and a wonderful companion. We should have days out together more often because I think she enjoyed it as much as I did.

BG was pretty stable all day but I was a bit low on fluids. That was by choice because, especially in a wheelchair, it is difficult to access toilets. Even the "disabled" one at Glasgow airport was difficult for both access and egress. Best keep the fluids low. MRI scanning was a bit of a shock. I expected and prepared for the noise and the claustrophobic feeling and knew I could cope by shutting my eyes and my mind to my surroundings. I wasn't expecting to have a mask put over my face! That nearly blew the whole thing for me and I almost asked them to let me out. But I managed to hang on and, in the end, the worst part was trying to get off the "bed" after half an hour laying on my back, which I never do because it hurts so much and makes breathing difficult. I spent the half hour concentrating on controlling my breathing, so the enclosed space didn't get to me too much. Wouldn't really want to do it again though, so I hope that was the last time I'll have to. Not sure what I'll do if the scan shows something that needs surgery.

Thanks for your concern @Annb fortunately it's not a serious op. Recovery time is about three weeks .

Hoping to tidy up the garden and greenhouse today. Laundry has been abandoned 100% chance of rain.
It looks as if something got the fledgling dove after all. Lot of feathers about this morning. I didn't see it at all yesterday so assumed it had flown.
Hooray have managed to give away a tomato plant this morning. One less. About thirty still need to go.

RIP fledgling dove. Every little helps with tomato plants.

As it’s 4th July, and not wanting to miss anyone out,
Happy 4th July to anyone in or from the USA

All quiet in this here 'hood for now. No flying today. Expect mega firework displays around 1.0 am tomorrow morning for a couple of hours. Fair enough since we all - apart from a few of the un-reconstituted - know where the clout lies. We should welcome them with good grace as visitors anyhow but some very vocal people have forgotten their history and manners despite (or because of the wrong?) elite education. Have a wistful song to lighten that

Good afternoon, not going to post as much today, cos I've had a counselling session this morning.

6.8 10am. So I think/hope that what I'm doing is working.

I tried to grow toms, cos I love them and you can't get better than the ones you get in Greece they are huge and so tasty.

Just a thought about the NHS @lindisfel with the resources given to healthcare, and an awful lot of it not actually for healthcare doesn't bode well.
But there is a healthcare system, currently thriving in our country along with the money donated to its relative charities. The system that the veterinary healthcare use, yes, it is private and pay up front for services, so that would be out of most of the people in this country's pockets. For this to be used as a model for the NHS, is not applicable here, just look at the states!
The money donated to animal charities is more than double to either children's charities or any particular charity for healthcare combined including hospices etc.
Why do charities have had to pay up front for power usage? During the scandalous rise in power supply rates the hospices were not helped by either the power companies or the government? Disgraceful!
I had to watch a programme where a veterinary clinic, was just opening. It put the hospitals to shame!
And they were opening more around the country, part of the costs were met by charities and community groups, including council agreements, and if you have the low insurance costs, then care costs are minimal, even for surgery!
Just a thought Derek!

Another one is the abuse of staff on the front line of our hospitals. Imagine if our pets couldn't get an appointment! For the same reasons we can't access healthcare in our surgeries, hospitals? No appointments till next week, waiting times for operations, waiting times for scans, A&E waiting times, no ambulances and so on?

We just wouldn't pay for that type of service for our pets! There would be riots! You just don't get it in our vets surgery, do we? We just wouldn't!
So why do we put up with it for our healthcare?
Does the private healthcare providers, make them wait?

It's not about money, it's about the capacity and the lack of will of government to make it work!

I'm one of those folks, who can't abide coffee!
I know, I'm one of a few!
I'm a tea drinker, always have been! Black, no milk, no sugar! Strong as possible!
Should drink more water, but it's my job, to make tea for us both!
