What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Just caught up with the thread took me over a week (half an hour to be exact ish)
Today is 6.4, yesterday was 7.0 mmols. The reason for the 7 I think was it was a pre everything test including counselling, grandkids, shopping, and footie last night. It was a busy day, hence the no show!
The grandkids were here again today and excuse my scouse, I'm .........!
Have a lot on again so I will keep it short!
Counselling was very tough with this realisation that I'm not doing as good as I think I am and I repeat doing too much. Not caring for myself, because I'm caring for everyone else. With my situation at present, despite the loud hailer, for help, and it's just not here yet! You just cannot not help someone who you really care about, despite what it does to you. I'm not religious but isn't that what the scriptures say?
I'm with Derek or @lindisfel as is his pseudonym is. You know what I mean! It is what it is!

With my understanding of how carbs interact with our hormones and how it causes overtime with the pancreas, liver and all the hormonal responding bits of us that have an effect.
We have, all on here have an abnormal response to what goes in our gobs! But it all depends on your own individual intolerance to that food. What I and Derek have that is different, is when we have what is loosely called a sugar crash our liver cannot respond enough to stop the crash into hypoglycaemic levels. The overshoot created via our brains and gut trigger (bet you didn't know you had one?) Has an abundance of insulin which drives the sugar crash. And of course all the horrible symptoms develop because of the rapidity of the spike, the crash, the hypo, then, we have to be careful of the rebound effect if we treat the hypo with too many carbs!
The majority of items on sale in shops, have grains in them. When you read the label, the grains are in bold type!
That is not only because of gluten intolerance but other intolerance and known to cause inflammation, which is a precursor for so many health issues including diabetes.
Perhaps, it is because I know my reaction and how I stopped my hypo hell, it is not surprising that my experience tells me it is carbs not calories, keeping your BG levels in or around normal levels and am so intolerant to so many foods. Also that T2, does mirror the science of RH, I can relate to it. That I would recommend a low carb diet to that person every time!
My, Non diabetic late reactive Will be here if advice is needed.
Gotta go T20 is on box now!
My best wishes as always!
Some great artwork!

Late posting today. Very busy admin day. Sent out the September timetables to classes but hit a major snag as quite a lot were flagged up as spam and were not delivered. Had to then email these them out individually instead of one email to each class.

I have been sending timetables out like this for ages using the BCC function so everyone's email address stays private. Have emailed my Tech people so hopefully they will come up with a solution.

I back up stuff initially as I am working (before I put it in its proper place when I have time later), and if I am sending to multiple of my email addresses, it flags it up as spam at times, but not always. So annoying @Krystyna23040
So I do it individually now...

I came back yesterday from seeing my friend in England, and some large parcels that I had been waiting weeks for, had been delivered, finally. The idiot delivery driver had piled then up right by the door blocking the cat flap. There were 2 gingers and one black cats (strays) who couldn't understand why their entrance to my kitchen was blocked, and thus their access to food. I removed the boxes carefully, and on the other side of the cat flap was a very confused Midnight. He was too bewildered and scared to come out initially, bur then he shot off into the back garden to do his business...
He came back and gave me a lecture on how he'd had to cross his legs all day...

I was shattered because my friend has a new to her phone. It's daughter's husband's old iPhone. My friend does not do technology. So, our time was spent me trying to explain, then demonstrating, then making her do several exercises on it. I know from experience from when I taught oldies pre-Covid lockdowns about iPads/smartphones/computers that if this is their first time on these devices, it can take many many sessions for even the simple things to sink in. This is the second session I have had with her, and this is proceeding the same way...

I came back home cream-crackered, only to find new road signs up. These were telling me I couldn't turn left, from the High Street, where I usually turned left. I wasn't the only confused driver. Drivers in front of me were turning left, then realising it was now a one way road they could not go up, braking suddenly, backing out into the High Street, only to find the next left turn also had a new no left turn sign...

And I finally get home after also encountering a blocked road by workmen in the road, no warning before I got to it, so had to do a u-turn, drive back a long way (as did all the drivers behind me). No advance warning, yet for traffic in the other direction, there was a notice saying diversion and a diversion route...

Went to bed and went to sleep next few hours. But I haven't slept properly this night now...I am going to have to cancel my plans for today and stay at home...

Creative - as before - from some soft pastel paintings I did a few years ago. I am reworking them. I also had some Aquarelle Neocolour pastels Caran D'Ache (pastels to add water to), and played with these. So, a sort of pastel mixed media painting.

Have your best day

A cuppa and a nap for me now...

The RSPB have overstepped their brief by accusing government ministers of lying when its the policy that they should have addressed. As a member of the RSPB I do not agree with their approach.

The causes of river pollution is complex and the fact that privatised Water Companies approach is to dump untreated sewage and take the money in dividends they should have spent on sewage treatment.

In our area most of the pollution is caused by farming whereas in the Lakes the input to sewage systems is caused by million of visitors and human demand.

It is very complex, the RSPB knows we have lost Curlews and other birds through farming practice. Which ultimately is government decree and maximising farming profits.

Happy birthday to eldest grandaughter.
Now one of three girls in the family.
I am happy to be home and trying to re-establish normal routine whigh has gone totally to pot over the last few weeks.
Plan for today very late harvest of garlic and onions once again scuppered by the rain which cunningly waited until I was ready to go out into the garden before starting. Kiki doesn't seem to mind it, she has been out all night and not yet returned.
Oh well there are cucumbers brined overnight ready to pickle and still a kg of tomatoes and peppers waiting to become chilli jam. Hoping for a dry afternoon.

Welcome back and happy birthday to your eldest granddaughter. Tomatoes look wonderful and I expect full of flavour. Hope you have a dry day of it.

Good morning everyone on what may be a bright and beautiful start to bin day here in the dark and dangerous north. 5.4 this am. RAC called out yesterday - key stuck in ignition. Turned out to be a solenoid which is only there it seems to make you put the vehicle in P for park before it lets you have your key back - blooming nuisance these things. Far too many airy fairy legislated nonsence like having to have the words “Caution, Hot” on take away koffy cups for the Darwin Award contenders. It’s getting to be like the USA who think that they are called American - just ask them to point to Canada on a map with all the words covered up. The French don’t have a word for entrepreneur! Oh, solenoid now sitting in glove box where it can do no harm. Will be replaced under warranty I suppose. Art bit - start of an old ruin (no one we know mind). Best get some koffy.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and those whose day will be full of mystery and the odd unknown.
This morning my bloods were a self induced 8.3, don’t ask.

In a few short minutes I shall be smearing some sort of pain relief cream over my knee, parrots eating molly taken earlier. Walking with a walking stick is proving a real test of my hand foot eye coordination, it is possible to trap my stick between my legs ending up posterior over mammary gland while Mrs J throws her hands up in the air muttering profanities. Mrs J has a rather large vocabulary and a voice that carries, aircraft carries voice springs to mind.
Here in Tilehurst Towers the day is taking shape, under Mrs J’s direction, I am not party to this, but just cling onto any flotsam that comes my way.
Today I must begin my exercise regime and get back into plinky plonky, but.

Stay safe all.
I am glad to read evidence that your sense of humour is still in good health.
Hopefully you have mastered the cane by now. Remembering one used as a weapon by my paternal grandmother. Shudders.

Happy Birthday eldest granddaughter!

7 again this morning but it is what it is. Yesterday before dinner was 5.5 so with that number I am happy. Off for a run outside in a minute, despite the rain I do love it. I have fields opposite me so seems a shame not too take advantage of the countryside, beats coming back to the house and all the other problems with the area :bored:

Nice old ruin @dunelm

Ah!
New cars and their obtuse messages.
There's a whole pile of stuff with my new car.
Yesterday my car flashed at me "Leading driver pulling away" It kept flashing me and repeating the message. Very disconcerting. Of course the driver in front of me has pulled away...he was trying to enter the main road on a right turn, the car on right was letting him go, but not the oncoming traffic from the left. I cannot move because I am still waiting at the junction. But I am distracted by it, looking at whatever message the car is trying to tell me.
An inappropriate instruction.

The next instruction the car gave me was when I was driving home.
By the way I always have two hands on the steering wheel, I never drive one handed like many people do.
And the instruction on the screen in front of me. "Put both hands on the steering wheel!"
That distracted me, and confused me. I had both hands on the steering wheel, holding it properly. I was momentarily distracted from the busy road. Which is not a good thing.
So, what is the car going to do to me if it perceives I don't have my hands on the steering wheel?

And also if I am avoiding a pothole and I have to go near the left kerb edge my car flashes at me, and it does an automatic correction, steering me away from the curb edge...and into the pothole I go...I thought initially I was imagining this. But asked daughter when she was here, to check if that was happening. Yes it is mum, the car is doing a steering wheel correction. But what if I am avoiding a motorcyclist passing too close to me, or something else. Not good said daughter...

Too much clever stuff...

Morning all. The 5.7 Swipey offered up doesn't fit any samples the labs analyse or 8 years of data from yesterday's food but it could obviously be accurate (ish). I've got 99 problems and that ain't one of them. Now, if'we had no tea or salad...... @dunelm and @gennepher thanks for sharing the wonderful art and hugs for car issues. @Krystyna23040 hug for #emailgate. @SlimLizzy glad you are home safely and can preserve the bounty from your hard work. Happy birthday to granddaughter. I take it #3 girl arrived safely in UK. Have a good day..

That is so time consuming to send them individually @gennepher. I send out over 200 emails so I am hoping that the Tech people can come up with a solution.
