What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Morning all, especially Loretta, from a very sunny L.A. @gennepher congratulations on finding a workaround to #speedgate. You are an amazingly tenacious and resourceful lady. Thanks for sharing badger grooming. My but they looked so smart afterwards. Enjoy the smell of the rose - lovely photo. We have roses as the Yin to my Yang likes them. @JohnEGreen great fbg and I hope the tests offer a helpful solution. @Annb best wishes for the six monthly appointment. @jjraak good to see you about, thanks for the heads up over COVii and take care. Y'all have a good day now but big virtual hugs for those who don't like warm weather. No socks here :woot:

Thanks @ianpspurs
I do not like anomalies...
Obviously I now run a beauty salon as well...
The Rosa rugosa smells heavenly...

Well. Just back from the hospital and resting with a cup of tea. BG dropped just before I left the house so I had to take remedial action - 2 oatcakes, one with peanut butter worked briefly, but it started dropping again so I had one of the fruit pastilles I keep in the car (just this side of the point where they need to be thrown out; quite soft and almost sticky). That brought BG up to 4.9. As a result, I think, my blood pressure was a bit higher than I would have liked, but not too bad.

As for the actual consultation, all of my results are in the normal range, apart from thyroxine which is a bit low, but not much and my liver function has actually improved. Also they reckon I've lost 10 kilos since my last appointment - I reckon it's more because of the big boots I have to wear over the heavy bandages.

It's all down to LCHF. Quite pleased with that.

Good news on the results. For 10 kgs those boots would need to be lead diving boots.

They feel like it, hanging on the end of my legs. They do weigh a fair bit more than my normal shoes though. Probably only 1/2lb more, I suppose. Whatever, I'm quite happy with the result.

Hi Ann,
I doubt whether an hospital on the Island sees very much Crohn's disease, far better to have it done at a teaching hospital where real experts in the particular disease are resident.
A lot of non medical people, even those well educated, are ignorant that standards are not equivalent throughout the health service.
I hope he finds a way to Glasgow.
Best wishes

As we are both aware with RH mate. A doctor, who has a patient with the condition is rarer than the rare condition itself!
As my then GP told me, he had indeed heard of it in one class in university but had not come across a patient with it!
Hence the General part of the doctors title!

6.6 this morning!
A day full of blue sky and raising temperatures, a beautiful day and I am happy to be happy with being happy in the garden!
After chores, shopping, grass cutting, and general chief cook and bottle washer within the household, I managed an hour of relaxation and reading under cover of course, as my thermometer reached over 30+! Not complaining as the South easterly breeze was fabulous!
I think that I have now completely been transformed from a husband in name only, to what is now currently called a carer, or what my ancestors would call a domestic!
I have been transformed into a househusband, or what is known in ancient civilisations, a slave!
And I'm so grateful for modern facilities, machines, transport etc, for making my life easier than it could be otherwise!
That is how I feel this morning!
I believed I was making progress with getting help for my wife, but once again, been let down by people who haven't got a clue about those in need of help! Money is more important than life!
I have emailed my MP, to ask him to intervene on our behalf!
Having a court ruling, just doesn't mean anything to these bureaucrats!

Also feeling fatter today than yesterday!
Do you have thin days and fat days?

As you can imagine on a beautiful day I am once again feeling a bit low!
And my team could and should be again bested tonight!
Grandkids are away or working, or in schools, not the crumbly ones! Missing them!
That porous concrete reminds me of crunchie chocolate bars, kept in fridge then dissolves in your mouth!
Can't believe the (Insert swear words) incompetence of these Tories! They just don't care!
And Rishi is going back home Friday, sorry I meant India then! Not San Francisco! Silly me!
It's all about India at the moment, I wonder why?

Have a wonderful evening, it is a glorious blue! Or as the ancient Greek slaves called it bronze! True!
Best wishes as always.

Were you hoping for giving him a home on Alcatraz?

That was that bad breakfast yesterday, and I only ate a bit of it...the fried egg, tomatoes (which had been microwaved), and the bacon which was over crispy. Then I realised the fat was old so stopped eating...
What a really dreadful breakfast yesterday @gennepher. Your fbg this morning shows just how bad it was.

Really good that all your results are in the normal range @Annb

Hello @Grandma Misti
Welcome to this thread.
Thank you, gennepher! I am happy to be here!

This 6.4 is a real triumph after many months of over 8.5 in the morning. The lower my carb went, the higher my blood sugar went. Bleah. I finally found something that made my readings responsive again, and am reviewing all of my routines. :) I came here for the latest information.

Hi @grandma Mishi
You can be as talkative as you want on this thread.
A friendly slightly crazy bunch on here!

Would you like to share what the something was that made your readings more responsive?

I am constantly tweaking my diet and strategies. Although, basically I am LCHF. But I do intermittent fasting, but it is variable each day, and depends on what I am doing that day. It might be a 4 hour window I eat in that day. It might be a 6 hour window I eat in. It depends if I am going out with a friend. But I find if I eat much later than 2 or 3 pm, then my fasting reading goes higher. My fasting reading is also lower when I only eat one meal in the day. And sometimes I do that because it fits in my daily life that day.

I am on Metformin. I would like my fasting readings to be in the 5's and not the 6's. I am Type 2. I would like to be off Metformin (any diabetic drugs) if that is ever possible.

Just a little bit on me.

Take care.

Have a good day.

Creative is a photo of a butterfly. I was watching the small birds in the garden yesterday when a few butterflies came in...mostly whites, but a few brightly coloured butterflies...

Have a good day

Time for a coffee

FBG (2.45 am 7.4. Painkillers, tea, drug induced sleep, BG 6.1 at 6 am.

Weekend guests so have to start baking today - only 5 of them but one (the T2 who eats oats but not other starchy carbs) has her birthday on Sunday. She's about a month younger than me. Planning to make a low carb blackberry cheesecake for her. Other things for other people (Baklava, Banbury cakes and maybe Genoa cake plus some savoury things). Makes me feel hungry thinking about it but I'll cope.

Cleaner didn't come yesterday morning (she phoned about noon to say she'd slept in and could she come in the afternoon, which wasn't possible) so she will come this morning - I hope. All ready for her anyway.
