What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

OMG, I just had to throw my iPad down, and rush outside. A hell of a murderous racket. I came face to face with a female kestrel. But she hadn't caught a sparrow. The sparrows had been on the feeders feeding. And slid into the leafy bushes besides the feeders. The female kestrel and I both looked at each other, then she flew away. She was magnificent...maybe a young one still figuring out how to hunt? She had been thrashing in the leafy bushes trying to get a sparrow...

It is quieter than a graveyard in my garden at this minute

If I heard a noise like that!
It's either the gulls or the kids playing footie on the back field, not much difference in decibel levels!
Just thought that it could those annoying silver birds from John Lennon.
I can't moan, who would I write to? It's not like he is anymore?

Quiet at night trying to star gaze!
 
The people that breed them, the people that train them and the people who own them and allow them off the lead. Any dog can be dangerous in its own way - some more than others. I was thoroughly chewed by a small terrier when I was about 5. It was our own dog and I was running and caused it to become excited. It ran with me, tripped me and proceeded to chew my arm. Did a fair bit of damage before my Dad got it off me. It wasn't the sort of thing that dog did - just as well it was small and was easily dragged off. Any dog can lose it for one reason or another and can be a risk. Big, strong dogs are clearly more of a risk and should be kept under control at all times.

The silver birds flying over me are aiming for John Lennon as well...but the green chinooks and other colours are aiming for Hawarden...
 
I take it's those bottlenosed dolphin like birds that can be bred around the Airbus breeding ground!
Not enamoured by those hypersonic birds that strafe across much of the open spaces, jetting around doing flybys and such!

When an airbus big bird drops into John Lennon, it needs a different approach to the runway than the usual commercial traffic and it's usually on a Friday!

The dolphin, when it leaves Hawarden which is often, is still low in the sky when it comes over my bungalow and it makes an almost right turn above me as it is climbing higher. A heck of a noise, but I like it! If there is no low cloud cover I can watch it turning. Then I follow it on my plane app to its destination...

But it doesn't come back the same route over mine, the descent route is different, and I never see that unless I am out driving by the border of England and Wales. Or if I am in the cafe, which is on the site, and you can see it coming up the runway...

On a fine summer's day, I sit in the garden, reading my book, and identify flying metal birds, and where their destination is.

Boy Badger gets clout from Midnight - Midnight comes indoors so Boy Badger tries again to sniff swing.

Boy Badger appears to have the same obsession about/for Midnight like his father, Pa Badger did. This is not just about food, but the scent (I am assuming this) of the cat on the blankets/cloths he sleeps on.

Creative - my day didn't go as planned yesterday morning and so I was very tired when I got home, and fell into a deep sleep for a few hours, and so I didn't have the time nor energy to finish the garage and my painting studio.

So, another photo today...a fallen Rosa rugosa flower petal.

Really dark now in mornings and evenings, especially on a low cloud cover day. It feels like the winter nights are here...

7.30am FBG 5.8 no exercises this morning. Planning to get straight into some preserving. Have what seems to me immense amounts of produce from the garden. Mostly tomatoes,20230917_081534.jpg multicoloured, peppers which all seem to be spicy and cucumbers.
Pic is of the current crop of tomatoes ripening on the island unit. Yesterday I cooked all the ripe plum tomatoes and MrSlim made curry using about a kg of other red and brown ones and a few of the peppers. These are the remnants. Ripe toms are in the fridge except for the yellow fruit on the chopping board which are about to be chutney.

Apparently there are three breeds in the States do the most damage to people. The Pit bull, the Doberman and the Rottweiler, far more than any other dogs.

The Turkish sheepdog has the strongest bite but it's an enormous wolf killer.

I can't see see how in their situation in a small house in a built up area with small children about, anyone would want one of the killer breeds.

what a wonderfully colourful horde of tomatoes which look absolutely delicious. Bet they smell lush as they say in Bristol. Will you make and freeze some pasta also?

Somebody once commented that there was nothing noiser than Concord taking off to which an RAF veteran commented, “six Vulcans doing and emergency launch.”

Good morning everyone on another dull yet exciting morning here in the dark and dangerous north. 5.8 this am after some pretty good fairly low carb birthday cake made by daughter in law. No chance to really catch up - it’s pretty full on with grandchildren here but thank you all for your birthday wishes for not so little Miss Pamplemouse. We are all off to an indoor play area late morning. Mrs Miggins has booked the place for a party. The Ninky Nonks are already up and excited: “We are going down the big yellow slide grandad and our bellies will hurt.” - Crazy kids. Art bit, acrylic ink and a water brush. Hope your day is exciting as mine will be. Better load up on koffy.

Morning all on a brighter start to the day here in L.A. after a bright end to a certain soccer match. Perhaps more macho types will admit mental health issues now? My fbg was 4.6 according to NoNeedToSwipeyATM which is much more to my liking. @dunelm thanks for sharing the art - an air of mystery and feeling that I've been there. Enjoy soft play. All granddads must go so just do what I've taught my granddaughters. @gennepher thanks for sharing another stunning photograph. I hope the coffee fuels a good day in the garage. @SlimLizzy lovely photo of your harvest which should provide many delicious and nutricious meals to reward your efforts. Noises from planes? Busier and louder than normal here lately due to this . Last Wednesday was the anniversary of Ben P being killed in action in 1916. God bless and protect our protectors of all nationalities. Y'all have a good day now or at least don't let the bothers break your spirit.

A guy who came to our former Open Brethren church emeritus group in Carlisle was an RAF Victor bomber navigator. He reckoned in the Cuban missile crises they all were loaded with Nuclear weapons sitting on the tarmac ready to go with engines running to go and drop there weapons the other side of the Ukraine and fly on till they ran out of fuel deep in Russia.
Brave young men but I guess that's why they had noisy take offs.
