What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good morning everyone from a rather dull and overcast start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. 5.6 this am. The party’s Over, good things must end and Willie Nelson has left the room. Smashing weekend but now back to being all quiet on the Eastern front, for now. A quiet day planned but like all plans, only good until the point when you try and carry them out. Beetroot - no, not the pickled stuff in jars. It evidently lowers blood presssure due to nitrates in it which causes vasodilation. We eat quite a bit but evidently not enough; in Roman times the vegetable was used as an aphrodisiac and that bit doesn’t seem to pan out. Do we need more Borsch? Art bit - a boat and some birds. Hope your day is a good one. I shall drink koffy and then do my exercises.

@dunelm The birds and man in red add a lot to your sketch...
Enjoy that coffee..

Morning all. Warm and dry here but rain promised right on cue for school pickup. 6.1 here which seems to be due to some virus or another rather than food. @dunelm thanks for sharing the splendid updated art and information on beetroot. @Krystyna23040 good news on the probable return to normal bg control. Form is temporary, class is permanent. Thanks for more detail on Taurine. @gennepher sounds as though #garagegate is going well - who needs Satcey Solomon and crew? @lindisfel I hope all goes well for Marjorie and you do as you are told by your daughter. Though I have more faith in the former :D Go well people.

Took one taurine capsule this morning. BG was 11.1 today - holding steadily there from 4.30 am. Had taurine, insulin, h/m chicken and leek soup for breakfast. Currently (2 hours after breakfast) still holding steady at 11.2. Not sure how long it would take for the capsule to have an effect - if it does. My tinnitus hasn't been affected either - maybe it's something that builds up over time.

Fbg 6.7

I had to go to my insurance company this week to sort something. So I went down this morning.
Wales is now 20mph, from the previous 30 mph, as from yesterday.
But my car Sat Nav and Google Maps say it is still 30 mph.
I approach my steep hill with trepidation. Traffic is doing its usual 30 or 40 mph (speeding), on the steep hill.
I do 19/20 mph.
Traffic overtakes me.
Nothing is doing the new regulatory 20 mph.
I get to the High Street. Traffic at gridlock. No reason for it.
I say forget the insurance company at this point. I am not wasting an hour of my time stuck in traffic, and mentally earmark a different day and time.

Turn round and come home. Again I do not see one car, and there were a lot of cars on the road, sticking to 20 or close to it.
Only Muggins here stuck to the new 20 mph limit...
My neighbourhood online site had various people inciting civil disobedience to this 20 mph, and some said that the 20mph signs were put up last night under the cover of darkness, and they were immediately vandalised.
I did not see one 20mph sign this morning...

Thee problem with this area is that it is a conurbation of several towns which have all merged in to each other, and add to that the outlying villages which also have converged/merged into this conurbation. This now makes a very long and wide area which is now all 20mph, and no respite from it.

I do have plans to go out this week, and it includes escaping this area of Wales at the earliest possible point, and shopping in England.

This confusion of the inconsistency of the relevant mph in this area of Wales has to be sorted before I will do any serious driving in it.

Creative. Finally managed to create a space for painting in the garage (still loads and loads of sorting and tidying to do, but that is a later date now.) Used some paints I mixed up 3 years ago. A4 page out of a sketch book. And some black chinese ink and an oldcredit card to draw the tree...

Nap time now, and then I might go in garage and do tomorrow's painting....

Hug for the confusion caused by the change to speed in built up areas. Thanks for sharing the amazing creative. Did I spot a dearly loved companion at the root of the tree. In a sense giving vibrant life to the creative and, hopefully, your day? Shame to say I have forgotten his name, my bad.

Thanks Ian....Popeye?

6.6 again, hovering around the middle 6's, just won't come down! But this is the least of my worries at the moment!
Still nowt from roofers, another phone call due to have a moan, not that they could do anything else this morning as the constant heavy downpour has created the swimming pools in both front and back, we are awash with the flood waters and the damp is permeating (word of the day!) everything.

Chores and shopping done ✔
Washing done ✔
Bloods done ✔
Meds done ✔
Food sorted done ✔
Kettle on done ✔

No garden today! Boooooooooo!!!!

Have a marvellous moist Monday and best wishes to you all as always!

I guess this stuff interferes with meds @Krystyna23040?
Thanks
D.
@lindisfel the problem is when taurine does the same thing as a pharmaceutical drug - so it would almost be like as though you were taking a double dose of the drug - which could be quite dangerous.

Anyone would need to be very careful if they take blood pressure lowering meds as taurine lowers blood pressure so blood pressure could go too low unless their doctor (or they) adjusted their blood pressure meds. I wouldn't think it would be a good idea to take taurine unless they had a home blood pressure monitor if they were on blood pressure.meds.

If they were on Lithium their doctor would have to lower their dose as taurine makes lithium stay longer in the body.

They would also need to be very careful if they inject insulin as taurine does seen lo lower blood sugars.

@ianpspurs thank you. It is beginning to look like I hopefully have returned to normal for me blood sugars

@Annb - what dosage is the one capsule?
Re: the tinnitus -:I think that improves over time.

ATM I am taking 11 different drugs per day so anything else would be a no no.

What a pain, 20mph - must have obviously been well thought out by Mark the cheese boy and his team. Loving this piece of art. Smashingly vibrant.
