What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

I never met him but David Sheppard always seemed like such a nice man. Oddly, we didn't really follow the cricket, but we felt as though we knew him. We were delighted when he became a Bishop and seemed to be in an even better position to have a good influence.
I have always liked cricket, and I've always followed cricket. We would go and watch cricket games on the Village Green at weekends and I always remember the obligatory Oak tree on the village green as well as the pond. Then the foldaway wooden chairs and cucumber sandwiches and strawberries&cream I didn't like either those two @Annb

Good morning everyone on a splendidly quiet start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. 5.6 this am. Well the sun decided to shine throughout the day yesterday so the grass got cut. It was also my dad’s 94th birthday. Him and my mother went out to lunch at their favourite restaurant. Mrs Miggins, as well as her twin sister and two of their aunts are at this moment traveling up to somewhere between Aberdeen and Inverness for a family gathering at the home of some ancient Pictish uncle. Funny old bloke, wooden legs but real feet. Hunting Weathered and dress tartans have been packed and this weekend was spent brushing up on her Doric. I have elected not to attend. Art bit, some colour added. Hope your day is a pleasant one. Best make some more kofee.

I love the freshness of this colour you have used in your sketch @dunelm
You can have some peaceful tranquil days to yourself now....

Yes, that was a great class member. Thank goodness he flagged it up.

Actually, I have also done the same at our training sessions in London. Being older than most other teachers I don't care about looking stupid and admitting that I don't get something.

The teacher will ask if everyone understands what she is saying and everyone nods yes - except me. I pipe up and say that don't understand. Then several people admit that actually they don't either.
Me too @Krystyna23040 I am the same. I will say in class or a group of whatever, I'm afraid I don't understand when everyone else is just nodding inanely into making out they understand.
Next thing is, they are all asking what they did not understand, I don't know why people do this. What is wrong with admitting you do not understand?

Morning all from a dull start here in the Exotic East's least exotic but very Americanised area. Y'all can even pay for some things in dollars. @Annb hopefully a good rest today after a successful Sunday. I baked some keto biscuits yesterday. Turned out fine but I will add either more cinnamon or the blueberries, use a rolling pin and cookie cutter next time @lindisfel hug for the early start to a busy day. I hope all goes well. @gennepher your dad was blessed to have learned his cricket from such a teacher. @dunelm thanks for sharing the amazing art and congratulations to your father and Mrs Miggins' Uncle. @Krystyna23040 well done for asking when unsure, always hard. The modern way is for the nervous to leave post-it messages/ electronic requests for more help. Since Cathedrals have been mentioned and Christmas delivery/collection slots are being taken fast here's the choir of Ely Cathedral to enjoy with with your Keto mince pies. Have a good day.
I remember always playing cricket @ianpspurs and when I was very small. Obviously I had a children's bat, but then as I grew older, I had a proper bat which had been oiled and everything...and I was banned from playing in the back garden...glass conservatories and all that...there was a bit of wasteland top of the road, and I could really hit the ball then...that red leather ball was heavy and you could hit it far...

At school the pavilion had an honours board with my dad's name on for a long jump record. As a youngster I played on Cambridge College grounds with outfields like amazing green carpets and pavilions full of history and old photos (you could smell the memories) In Kent I played on the grounds of Old Boys and Banks for league games and all kinds of gorgeous villages for friendlies. I liked Chiddingstone and Knole Park - deer and all. You may have liked the teas JKP made when I became captain after moving back home. Legendary spread including a trifle for each team. A few teams felt the need to provide something after their home game to say thank you for being treated so well. I can't lie and say I don't sorely miss those times.

I'm watching it now, warm up games for the world cup.
My cticket club that I and my brothers played for was at the local park, with two other clubs. Unfortunately since my youth fifty years ago two out of the three don't exist now. The remaining one is still there and my eldest and my nephew are still playing in their forties.for
I have fond memories of those days. And the teas. When I had to ask for a special plate, without dairy. A few times, I couldn't eat, as the teas were pre made.
we played a game at a fancy pants club on a Sunday and got treated to a feast of salad and cakes galore!I
Have paid a visit to old Trafford a few times and when Lancs play in Liverpool or Southport.
It is a great day out, unless the weather isn't kind.

6.8 I think that the reason is its Monday!

Raining again, rain, rain, rain I'm just wondering if October is monsoon season, my grass needs a grim but too wet to do. But it was warm yesterday!

Grandchild number five's birthday and he will be around after school.

Chores and shopping done.
Another manic Monday, but a busy week ahead, but still no sign of roofers, good thing they put sealant over the bay window. But by the see the heavens look, I'm so glad I live on a hill (ish).

My best wishes to you all as always.

Was out earlier.
Had nice brekkies again.
Blood sugars perfect reading when I finally got home.

But coming back into Wales from England, driving at 20mph in this area of Wales still giving me a headache (or stress tummy ache rather).
What am I complaining about today?
Cyclists....
I don't care what the Highway Code (that needs changing) says that there are no restrictions on cyclists basically, and there can't be because the majority don't have speedometers. Because the cars are going at this new reduced speed of 20 mph now, the kamikaze cyclists weave in and out of the cars even more so, whereas before, at 30, they stayed on the left of the car, apart from on my steep hill where you get cyclists on the wrong side of the road cycling towards you in the road as you are driving up, and they swerve very last minute. This game played by the cyclists is particularly bad on dark nights.

Pedal cyclists need to be insured and have a speedometer fitted if they cycle in the road.
Because currently many are capable of cycling faster than the cars at 20mph, especially down my steep hill. I do not want a meeting with a kamikaze speeding cyclist as I am driving 20mph on my hill.

I never was allowed to have a bike (because I was a girl, only boys counted...), but when the family were out in the early 1960's I borrowed my younger brother's bike (unknown to any of them). That had a speedometer. I was quite shocked at the speeds I could reach on his bike.

Now this is 60 years later. You cannot tell me that it is not possible to get speedometers on every bike, considering the price the bikes are.

Rant over...for today...

Thank you @ianpspurs. Biscuit recipe looks straight forward. Will try that with my low carb flour.

Obviously it is no good me posting links to enjoy early seasonal choral music with keto mince pies without providing some recipes so here are some:
Version 1
Version 2 mincemeat recipe
Version 3 - I think this is what I/we will make. I dislike erythritol so need an alternative golden sweetener.
V3 - with you on that but how can brandy possibly be optional? V1 - oh dear.
