What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

The answer my friend is blowing in the wind!

It was intended to be ironic rather than funny, sorry... the waste of life with the scourge of war continues.
Are the poppys fallen or have they got new life?
D.
I rather liked the idea of new life on this particular occasion. The things that we learn from history - nothing, and not a thing. I find it ironic that at no time since the end of the 1940’s until the scourge of social media did hoi polloi ever show much sympathy for Palestinians. Let us hope that our so called world leaders can actually do a bit of leading instead of threatening the manufacturing of camping equipment.

Have been quite unwell for a couple of days. Hot and cold. Headache, my glasses feel too heavy and hurt my face. weak and fatigued. Dizzy sometimes. No appetite at all. Havent eaten for three days now. Spent most of time sleeping.
No FBG today.
Feeling a bit better, got up, put washing on, small undemanding tasks.. MrSlim said its good I am recovering as he needs help to move the chest freezer!!!!
Rest up, drink water, parrots eat em all, feet up with a book - that chest freezer is quite content for a another day.

Never mind the potential problems AI could cause, rogue or plain malign humans are a proven clear and present danger to all. This paints quite an apocalyptic scenario. Just how could that possibly happen and facilitated by deeply pious evangelical Christians?. Not only do they live among us, I live among them. No wonder there are so many people who look at the state of modern society and say surely you can't believe. :arghh:

I think the linked article suggests that's for the birds - says the man whose wife will attempt keto toad in the hole. Triumph of hope over expectation but to be honest if one starts with sausages expectations are low anyhow.

Good morning all from what was a dry, bright, sunny start outside. @dunelm thank you so much for sharing the very poignant artwork. @gennepher thanks for sharing the owl and pace yourself through this busy day. Those videos show the noise last weekend. I cut the front lawn yesterday, probably for the final time this year, as it is brown bin day Thursday and the weather was good. I do like well cut grass. JKP wants to prune some things today. Will Colin Firth give the King's speech or that other guy? Can a keto toad in the hole be made edible? I'll leave it with you as you strive to have your own very best aspirational day with or without baby/puppuccino - low carb obs. Too woke?.
Thank you @ianpspurs. I felt our grass late morning - it’s a niche hobby. Anyhow, far too wet. Still time as our last garden bin day for this year is next Thursday. Keto toad in the hole - now there’s a challenge. As my survival instructor told the class, “most living things are edible, which is not the same as palatable.” Similar quote from the first Crocodile Dundee film about goanna lizards.

Afternoon all been out and about (5ft 9in, 14 1/2 st, ) this morning.

Blood sugars this morning were 6.1

Today is Tuesday therefore it is my day for being woke and known as Loretta.

Me, me’s and myself read on here I think about a new to me niche hobby “ Feeling grass “ silly me thought you smoked it or baked it in a cake.

Some folk feel groovy - I feel grass

Good morning everyone from a bracing start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. 5.7 this am. A gift yesterday from those smart folk at NHS HQ; my annual agility test, in a nice presentation box. Not as intense as the old one which used three lollipop sticks. Just been and posted my thoughts on the subject in time for the 9am collection. So, that’s the pinnacle of excitement for the day unless Mrs Miggins comes up with something after dropping The Girl In The Bubble off at school - do we say school now when we are almost 4? Art bit, some trees and a few poppies (no, productive toxt, not puppies). Hope your day goes well for you. Might have another koffy and then do my exercises.

Hope the day went well @dunelm

Sombre poignant painting...but beautiful...

I had a walk down the road before lunch and although I was too slow for Marjorie I made a mile all but 250 yds. A bit painfull but I am picking up.

Alan came this pm and tidied the garden up for me. He was telling me a single mum came to the food bank the other week with five kids not knowing how she was going to feed them.

The need is far greater than ever, how did the world get in this mess so long after I was born?
Where has all the compassion gone on the part of those in political control?

From what I saw, heard and read in almost four decades teaching there has been dire need for at least 45 years. People now are less inclined to suffer in silence, embarrassment has been weakened if not been taken away, food banks are widely publicised and available and the need has also spread to what were considered well paid/upwardly mobile occupations. Nurses and teachers to name but two. Also, politicians and the r/w media have learned elections can be won by ignoring and blaming the poor, sick and fragile in whatever guise for all sorts of ills.

If Trump gets in I hate to think what the crazy man might do with Putin and the Arabs.
He's on an ego trip and net zero will be for the birds and big oil will be pulling all the oil they can out of planet earth.

The idea God will give them a new planet after they ruin this one is a very unsound theology.

I can't remember the title, or much of the detail, but I remember reading a SciFi story years ago (usually not my favourite genre) in which it was a criminal offense to be unable to afford to pay for essential services and computers watched and controlled everything and everybody. What a ridiculous idea! It couldn't happen. Could it?

Another one that I read, and which was turned into a TV drama, was called "The Machine Stops". In that, everyone lived alone in a computer controlled, air conditioned environment, with weakened muscles because they never had to move from their computer controlled couches, in underground rooms (underground because the earth's surface was said to be uninhabitable). The only contact with other people was via something like Skype. As per the title, the machine that kept them all alive, stopped. They had no air, no food, no fluids, no communications and there was a panic to try to get out of their underground rooms and to the surface but, one part of the machine that did still work sent out tentacles to haul them back in again - presumably trying to protect them from a long passed hazard on the outside. I was in my teens when I read it and it had a profound effect on me - possibly led to my distrust of technology. It couldn't happen, of course. Could it?

Had a nap, just a depressed headache glad it's gone dark!
Think it was the sudden brightness of the Sun reflected through my glasses and tiredness because of a wild nightmare last night. Again stuck in situation that would harm, like a magnert, dragging me to a hell. A place which is funnily enough called church lane, where demons had taken over a very old school building and using touch to keep you there. To your fate. Which of course, the fear woke me up, and I got away!
But did i?
I often feel I'm trapped

Most dystopian sci fi or disaster stories are usually about technologies or science or inventions that the majority of people don't understand or how to use it. Control is usurped or stolen, and the rush to use and profit, is usually the cause of the disaster.
Ring any bells?

And of course Britain, is too slow and politically inept, or reluctant to put hurdles in front of the multinational corporations.

Have a lovely evening.

Just out back on the sodden footie pitches on the back for a bit of fresh air. It is a half decent clear night for stargazing. However two days after bonny night, there is a few miles away, a fireworks display. It must have cost a few bob, it went on for about half hour, it was decent, but why now?

Scaffolding up earlier than was told. At least the work can get done!

Mrs L has a good day today and even made me a cuppa, as I napped, she asked if I wanted sugar.
Bless.

Best wishes.

I took this beech tree in our front garden this am.
It's particularly colourful at ATM whereas all our Ash trees have lost their leaves
That is beautiful @lindisfel
Your garden must stunning with these autumn colours...

My ash trees still have pretty much all their leaves.
My oak trees keep a lot of leaves all winter and they go a beautiful brown. Squirrels have taken the acorns and redistributed them.
Rowan trees are just skeleton branches.
My cherry trees are bare of leaves, just skeletons.
A lot of the deciduous trees are still holding on to their leaves.
Apple trees have pretty much all their leaves, and I am still picking cooking apples...

Then there are all the evergreens...
The ivy needs controlling a bit. It provides security for birds nests, and food for moths and shelter for their larvae. The air in my garden is thick with all kinds of moths at night.

I talked with one of my neighbour's, the other day, who doesn't particularly like my natural garden and has always been curt with me, and I explained the wealth of insect life in my garden because of its overgrown nature. And a bit more stuff. He left enlightened, not sure how convinced he was, but I got my point of view over.
