What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

@lindisfel you decried the state of the nation over the need for food banks. The attached implies you ain't seen nothing yet despite Sunak's false claim that debt is falling and he has a long term plan so secret he can't divulge it just now.
OBR, have issued a statement about the truth of that statement.
he is carrying on the tradition of his predecessors, and trying his best to completely ruin the country for everyone.

Yes it is. I can also imagine the person making the call having to follow a script and being listened to to ensure they were doing everything to hold on to a customer or their job. You're right to stick to your guns.
Perhaps, but that's not an excuse for his almost aggressive attitude. Also not an excuse for telling porkies (not able to keep our number, we did not call back when asked to do so). Totally different attitude from Entanet, or whatever they are called now, who just sent an e-mail saying they were sorry we were leaving them and if there are any problems with the changeover, feel free to get in touch.

Excuse no but a likely explanation, yes. I may not, do not, agree, with it but I know from family and friends that is how many such modern jobs work. Yes one could say no, I'm not doing that but who knows how desperately they need the job and the reality is references are needed. Not following company protocols is now a major no, no. I think we often blame the lowest rung in a much bigger organisation. Anyhow, I'm sorry for both you and all those poor bs having to do that just to keep body and soul together.

You're quite right, Ian. I wasn't thinking clearly. Allowed my irritation to get the better of me. Still won't make me go back to iTalk. The man we spoke to at BT was much more pleasant, but then he was getting a sale, not losing one.

Ah but he is a Tech Bro and down wiv the yoof so he is just being delulu as the solulu. :hilarious: Were we talking about the English language being vandalised?

I planted it from Beech mast forty years ago.

Down the road in a friends garden there is an oak tree growing.I think it is about sixteen years old so not very big. She took her dad to Arnhem before he died and brought an acorn back to always remember. He got wounded as a para in the bridge too far campaign and was taken prisoner. But the Reich doctors must have sorted his injured leg out pretty well even though they were a bit pushed at the time.

Thank you @ianpspurs. A win for the post and a hug for the misery only lightened by the colours in that autumnal @lindisfel tree. And a smile and a thank you for the poem - always liked the work of Maya Angelou.
I was going to reply to @ianpspurs post but couldn't find the right words so gave up. Then I read your post which said exactly what I had been trying to say in my post. Obviously your brain is working much better than mine this evening

Just had a phone call from iTalk asking why we want to change our telephone service provider. I told him why and he kept trying to persuade me that iTalk is better than BT ("Have you read the reviews about BT?" - I haven't but I've spoken to people who have BT and are very happy with their service.) He was quite - to my mind - argumentative, so I told him I have no wish to argue, the decision is made. He wasn't happy. Tough! He wants Neil to phone them back so that they can continue the argument but I doubt if he will. "You realise that you'll lose your phone number." Not the end of the world.
@Annb I thought that you could keep your number when you moved provider. Hopefully the horrible iTalk person is wrong.

Morning all.It is 5.51 am, 17.3 degrees and I've just watched a cat and badger video - how did we get here? @gennepher what have you done to Ian P? :D Thanks for the magnificent owl and autumnal colours - although I like really like Acer rubrum, Sycamore brilliantissimum and the Claret Ash Raywood in the mix :D Now I need more tea to help with the drip trip later and the dogs need their whitebait, cod liver oil tablet and what I believe we must now call kibble. The whitebait is a freezer clearing treat. Y'all have a monstrously spiffing Fursday, ya hear?

7-9 outside but 17.9 inside now so Hive in the hall tells me. At that level the heating can and will stay off until at least 8.00 am when hopefully it reaches 18C on its own. I've got plenty of layers and MIL's bedroom gets heat from the airing cupboard and sun when it shines. JKP is wrapped up snugly in bed.and the dogs are fine. Stay warm.

He nicely sidestepped a decision about marches that might conflict with the most serious event of the year and squarely put the responsibility on the Chief Constables shoulders.
Very Clever, one can win whatever happens!
But a ban on such events is based entirely on intelligence - woops!

Come on Heston, those dogs are awaiting the feast. All the best with the drip trip.

Thanks for the good wishes. The dogs generally have kibble and cod liver oil and often a raw egg each as their pris fixe but sometimes, like the last two mornings - well it is party SZN - they live a little and have some gourmet sounding pouches as well.

Good morning everyone on a dull and overcast bin day here in the dark and dangerous north. 5.8 this am. It’s a day of excitement today and already I have opened a new pack of koffy which I am already sampling but not with gusto - I need this all to myself. Packing - Mrs Miggins has been packing for a few days. I got my case out of the case room (do we have such a place?) and will pack this afternoon. We are off to Mordor - Festival of Remembrance. Much to contemplate, not least the apparent rise of apprentice dictator Skrewella De’Bernitoman, currently working as a ventriloquist with that tiny Charley McCarthyesque dummy but not quiete as smart. Anyhow. Art bit, a splash of red. Hope your day wraps you in warmth. Turn the heating up Martha! I best finish this koffy and take my medication.
