What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Hi everyone,
hugs to @gennepher for the cough and all those who are worrying about relatives.
We did move the chest freezer, but MrSlim emptied, defrosted and cleaned it, then managed to get it to the bottom of the steps by himself. He took the heavy end(naturally) and the move was completed in about five minutes. I did put everything back. Not in any particular order though.
He has repaired the greenhouse.
Today he has been helping a friend who has considerable storm damage.
My priority today is preventing food waste. Having just shopped the fridge was full when I started to be ill. I had bought leeks and carrots for soup. Lemons, ginger and courgettes for jam. Onions and Raisins to make chutney. Having looked it seems we have enough home grown still. About half a dozen.
The carrots are going soft, so now soaking in the fridge for later and the leeks as well so starting with those. Have already peeled and frozen the ginger.
Will just have to see how far I get with the leeks.

I'm waiting for my leeks to be fixed above my bay window!

The light end used to be referred to as the Station Masters end.

Just had a phone call from iTalk asking why we want to change our telephone service provider. I told him why and he kept trying to persuade me that iTalk is better than BT ("Have you read the reviews about BT?" - I haven't but I've spoken to people who have BT and are very happy with their service.) He was quite - to my mind - argumentative, so I told him I have no wish to argue, the decision is made. He wasn't happy. Tough! He wants Neil to phone them back so that they can continue the argument but I doubt if he will. "You realise that you'll lose your phone number." Not the end of the world.

Why can’t you retain your phone number? Or was that a ruse? And doesn’t iTalk use BT Openreach network?

You should be able to port your number.
It is quite unacceptable them trying to bully older people.

I suspect it is just a ruse. Doesn't bother me anyway. iTalk does use the BT Openreach network. In fact, we were always with BT ever since we first had a telephone in 1969 - not that there was any choice way back then, with our current number for the last 48 of those years, but I, foolishly, switched to iTalk a few years ago because I thought they were offering a better deal and the talk was all about shopping round to find the best offer, at the time.

You should be able to port your number.

I'm not about to be bullied but you're quite right, the man's attitude was bullying, and it was not acceptable. Makes me even more determined that we made the right decision.

Yes it is. I can also imagine the person making the call having to follow a script and being listened to to ensure they were doing everything to hold on to a customer or their job. You're right to stick to your guns.

Did you ever have to drink your Urine on a survival course, @dunelm?

If you did you obviously had to put tablets in it first?
No, I didn’t have to do that. One interesting quote from an instructor that stuck in my mind, “You need about 50 cabbages to get the same survival nutrients of 1lb meat, and 50 cabbages are very heavy to carry.” (Or words to that effect).

@lindisfel you decried the state of the nation over the need for food banks. The attached implies you ain't seen nothing yet despite Sunak's false claim that debt is falling and he has a long term plan so secret he can't divulge it just now.
