What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good Morening all, later this morning things should be all quiet on all fronts.

Blood sugars this morning were a 7.8 . Me, me’s and myself would like to say a big thank you to a full on roast lamb dinner, a delicious fruit salad and an attack of gluttony. Would I do it again “aye probably”, a line stolen from a film called Twin Town.

I does have a windmill fan thing on top @SlimLizzy - very effective. Highlight of the day so far was somebody shoving a white hot blade into my left calf at 2 in the morning, quickly followed by examples of highland dancing, Irish jigs and Sufi whirling. No idea for the rest of the day apart from a walk before lunch - or should it be after - probably after to get any blood sugar lowering effects. Art bit, a few additions. Hope you all have a smashing Monday. I ought to have another Kory.

Hug for the cramp - I assume that is what you suffered - and thanks for sharing the art starter for 10. Enjoy the warmth of that wood/coal burner despite the warnings now doing the rounds - what do the BMJ know anyhow? I'd have one again tomorrow for warmth and the feeling of homeliness. We watched a programme about the Beast from the East last evening. As far as we recall the impact on us - then In Cambs - was zero. Toasty warm with 4 tons of very well seasoned hardwood (always keep at least a year's worth seasoning as well) - stacking that used to be a highlight of my year - and the trusty RR to ferry us around. Probably quite evil for the environment though. Compressed coffee logs give off an amazing amount of heat - a DIY project for you? :D .

I didn't need to! From school I was in continuous work.
My brother did move away. My nieces and nephews now live down sarf!
My daughter who is a teacher is in yorkieland.
Many other Scousers are everywhere, due to looking for work.
My club, has a southern club of supporters.
We are trying to export Scouse everywhere!!!!!

Maybe if the Union Barons stop making Wilson, Foot, Kinnock, (the wrong) Milliband and Corbyn leader they may win some elections or in Wilson's case do something useful (keeping us out of Vietnam aside.) Being of sound mind and want only the best of everything for everyone.
Only proportional representation will give us a more balanced approach to the governance of the country.
The policies of either right and left are too extreme for the majority of us, but that is what we end up with every general election.

Years ago, when she injured her spine as an outdoor pursuits instructor, DIL bought a 2nd hand wheelchair. She used it again when Em was nearly born but in the interim, she loaned it to Tom, until he got his own from the NHS (that had to go back when he died). Recently I've been using it and have become fairly dependent on it to get anywhere which requires walking more than 20 yards. Now that she has more trouble with her spine, and is to have surgery on it, she needs her wheelchair back, so I've been looking for a 2nd hand one on the internet. Neil has found a suitable one on Ebay and we have put an offer in on it. Decision time is tomorrow morning. We'll see how that goes. Amazon have them 2nd hand but this one looks better for the same price.

The weather is overcast but without wind so, perhaps DIL and Em's big sister (escort) will manage to get away on the ferry later today.

6.5 this awful damp monday.
A bit better this morning, headache lifted, had at least a ten hours sleep, needed it. Don't even remember visiting the toilet during the night.
got chores to do and avoid the dampness outside going the shops.

My mother in law was lucky enough to find a second hand mobility scooter that she could use on the road (heavens knows why), should she wished to. Might be worth hunting down one. Its something I would consider if I was unable to get around x

Ministry of silly walks comes to mind! However, it does work as it gets different muscles working. Tried it on the spin bike a few times - it didn't like it :hilarious:

Unfortunately I've had to give up driving because my eyes were causing problems and, although under investigation now, they are not improved. So a mobility scooter wouldn't help. Neil drives me to where I want to go and, if the distance is too far, I use the wheelchair. Alistair came in and said that on the phone the hospital said DIL may have to stay for 3 or 4 weeks. That's a shock but they may only be covering themselves in case of difficulties that may arise.

Twin Town - I have seen that film - one of the funniest films of all time and should replace that Dinner for One with Freddy Frinton that is watched all over Germany every Christmas.

Thank you @ianpspurs and yes, cramp. We use a mixture of reconstructed logs and reconstructed coal coal briquettes, manufactured loacally - smokeless with extremely low smoke and sulphur output. I can remember my mum making briquettes out of old newspapers from spring to autumn - so no thanks to making similar out of koffy grounds. We do sprinkle the grounds around our own grounds - good for plants and cats don’t like it.

That’s what my mother did last year - second hand, hardly used, bottom half of a Dalek. We did put two new batteries in it. It’s been invaluable helping mum to get out and about with some independence. Note: like the MK1 Daleks, no good for steps and high pavement edges.
 
My day today did not go as planned, I intended staying at home all day today.


An email came through at 9: 30 from Specsavers saying it was time I arranged my yearly appointment. So I went online to making appointment and there was one today at 10:45 and I I'm not even dressed I'm not even washed. But there were no more new appointments until the new year. So I'm thinking should I get dressed quickly not even going to have time for a shower, and just go. Anyway I booked the 10:45 slot and I got out as quick as I could and I made it with literally seconds to spare.


I just had the gut feeling I should go.


Everything seems to be going fine at the appointment, the OCT scan was perfect.


Then the sight test the way they do these things now. Left eye is apparently much better than last year, it has improved a lot. But not the right eye my right eye is usually a bit blurred. I remember it was blurred as usual on the eye test last year and I had difficulty reading some of the letters in my right eye but the optician didn't say there was any particular problems with my right eye last year, and said that the prescription was the same so I didn't change my varifocals last year.


This year I couldn't make out any of the letters with my right eye, but the opticians room was too warm for me and I kept steaming up the the glass thingy I was looking through. And my eyes felt very dry in that heat. The optician cleaned the condensation off the glass and then I could make out some of the letters.

It was then she said I had cataracts in my right eye.

And I have to go to an appointment next week for it to be assessed. And then there is a 2 year waiting list for the cataract operation...

And on the High Street when I came out of the opticians I took my glasses off, shut my not so good eye and could read car number plates, appropriate distance absolutely no problem. Then shut my good eye and I could still just read number plates, appropriate distance, with my not so good eye.

Am I in denial what the female optician said about cataracts in my right eye or what?


Anyway I'm back home now I'm sitting in my bedroom looking (without my glasses) alternatively through my good left eye and then my right eye, and my slightly blurred right eye view doesn't look any much different to me than than it has for a long time.


I can see better without my glasses using just my right eye. I can read words with my right eye without my glasses, they're a little blurred but not too bad.


Anyway, I have a new prescription for varifocals, but the glasses won't be ready for a couple of weeks...


The optician, who I've never seen before, seem to think that these cataracts had happened rather rapidly. But I am looking around my bedroom with my not so good right eye (with no glasses on) and I can see relatively clearly and I can read the notices on my boxes so I'm just wondering. What happened at the opticians when I couldn't see those letters clearly with my right eye.


Presumably I might get some more answers when I'm examined properly for the cataracts next week.


I am not panicking (yet).


The optician said the left eye vision was quite a lot improved from last year, and that the left eye improvement was compensating for my poor right eye ...

I have never heard of that before.

I am going to have my nap I never got this morning. I didn't get back until mid afternoon, I did a couple of messages so that I didn't have to go out tomorrow...

I don't know if there's anything to worry about yet or not. I keep looking around my bedroom with my good left eye shut and my bad right eye open and I can't see that everything looks any different than usual, but it was just I couldn't read those letters at the opticians, but the equipment kept steaming up because the heating was far too hot in there.

I suppose I'll find out at this appointment next week if there is a problem or not.
