What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Interesting piece from Marina Hyde take it or leave it but I can think of better ways to spend the £290 million to which they will admit. Goodness knows the size of the real spend. Also, this suggests the ones on boats or the 3 other ways aren't the issue. And, yes, if your medical appointment was cancelled due to lack of funding for staff or a school/hospital is crumbling wasting that money is something to be bothered about. How many Glucometers for newly diagnosed would that buy?

It's amazing that the different factions are taking different stances on a non issue. Which, if truth be told is a diversion away from the real issues of the cost of living and the state of this country and their part in it.
And every one of them is implicit in all of the country's economy
And on this issue, they are all wrong whether right, left, middle of somewhere in between. Treat people as you would want to be treated.
We are all human.
 
Had a mad hour with #7 & #8, and within five minutes, one of Mrs L 's chrimbo ornaments was not in one piece.
Not as it should be.
And Mrs L pad, was put into use as Mickey mouse clubhouse Christmas party had #8 entranced and occupied.
#7 first competition in Sunday, but excited as Santa visit tomorrow in town somewhere!
Footie tomorrow, lazy day, that is the plan, just a bit of duty tomorrow morning. I'm knackered, glad chrimbo decs are done and a nod of approval from kids and grandkids.
The hood is looking quite festive. I believe through chatting that because of the austerity and not much money around, people are making a bit of an extra effort.
I must admit that my mood has been better. But I'm knackered!

That is a standard publishing stamp in a book.
When books are printed, back in the day, the font of the book and publishing stamp were uniform. The typesetting block was individual for each book. The stamp was kept intact and used for every printing run for every book..

Better keep him chained or he will frightened people and kill cats.
Poor thing won't know whether its kindness or aggression pushing him.
Having him pulling her around won't help after her operation.

Good morning everyone on what may or may not be a damp squib of a day here in the dark and dangerous north. 5.8 this am. Leg getting back to whatever normal a partly worn leg gets back to so it’s all T minus whatever they say in films for the Farmers Christmas Market - I know - sounds expensive but there are scotch eggs from The Clucking Pig and freshly made sourdough boules to purloin as well as some Kimchi. And who knows what home made crafts will be on offer that are just the perfect gift at Christmas and not made by small children in dark warehouses in foreign parts or even out of foreign parts. Art bit - I know, I fiddled about with it. Have the best Saturday come to market day that you can. I simply must consume some civet assisted Koffy.

I don't suppose DIL will be walking with any of the dogs on a lead. At the moment, he's small enough for Em to do that, although, it seems as though being put on a lead makes him decide to lay down.
 
Some years ago when we birders up here were at least thirty years younger and too many have gone to the great bird race in the sky already. We used to gather for days on the end of the old Bowness railway viaduct. There is just a long sandstone flagged bank now sticking proudly out towards Annan and a little metal work left standing. We sat out in all weathers in spring looking for Skuas of all four species going east and climbing and crossing the piffling distance to the North Sea with mainly northern Europe and Russiain their sights.

There was a guy called Dave who had a rottweller called Baron. Despite calls to move him, he had Baron round our feet until it decided the gorse bushes which were well established had threatened him or were offensive and proceeded to tear them out by their roots.

He had his name tattooed on his arm when he died with a love heart and their names entwined.

What a character, he insisted on calling Great Skuas, Bronxies, instead of the northern islands name Bonxie. :)

Have it your own way Dunelm, I would rather consume the odd bit of chicken manure I knock into the eggs for my omelet when I break them.

9.5 at 0300. Dropped to 9.0 for a bit but up again to 9.4 now. No food so far but 4 cups of tea. Must sort out breakfast soon.

Em arrived, in pyjamas and wrapped in a blanket, at 0630 and immediately got into my bed and went back to sleep. I told her she could sleep as long as she wants - she's been a bit short on sleep this week, having to get up early enough to be dropped here when her dad goes to work (early hours for him too, being into Christmas deliveries now).
 
Our friend next door arrived back home late yesterday afternoon and has been told that it was not a TIA or ministroke but a stroke they tried to do a MRI but she got so agitated that they had to take her out of the machine and will try again in a day or so with sedation she has been given a prescription for about nine meds which will cost her about £60 per month so her son has done her a prepayment certificate when Mel went next door to keep her company she found that she had not eaten all day because it was difficult for her to cook and her husband was at work so as we were having a take away I put an extra order on and Mel took it in for her it was no trouble and we could not let her go hungry.

Bit of a surprise after a carb laden day and late night snacking on the last slice of pizza.
Otherwise. MrSlim has twinged his back, so is hobbling slowly around the place and getting bored.
We had French session yesterday, first in six weeks. Was good to see our friends again, but surprisingly tiring.
Tried to phone the pharmacie about Covid jabs but once again got an incomprehensible answer phone message. Too tired to go there yesterday, will have to make the effort today. At the same time have written some, but not all, cards and they need posting. Post office is in a town in the opposite direction to the pharmacie we use.
Its grey, dull, wet and windy. A day to huddle at home if given the choice

We helped the aspirational butcher, fishmonger and cheesemonger yesterday. I took some Sashimi tuna and Octopus off their hands - only to help out you understand - and JKP found some real faggots - proper caul. We also ordered Christmas - 1 “hamper” of each. Some intriguing possibilities invoked by a herb fed bronze turkey - my time in parts of South London put things in my head that will never leave. Naively I never thought about farmed Octopus since all my experience has been with boat to table but obviously Ely is not called Octopussly - oops. Y'all have whatever kind of Saturday boils ya bacon - (low, slow, roast Porchetta then crisp up the crackling separately for me thanks.)
