What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Morning all from a gusty - I don't know how gusty and CBA to find out - but dry L.A. Fbg unknown but I've weighed, gone through Fitbit stats and recorded data as Wednesday is when such things must be done. Probably a dictat from the Brussels jackboot wearing bureaucrats yet to be revoked if one believes a certain demographic. @JohnEGreen that was a Curates egg of a day what with the good news then the drama at the youth club. @dunelm thank you for sharing that wonderful art which made me wistful for The Old Country but as Joni said we can't go back we can only look behind from where we came. @gennepher that creative was sublime, just sublime so massive thank you. @Krystyna23040 great fbg again. Well done on beating the sweet tooth cravings. For me lc/keto food will always be sub-optimal - the orchestra is missing a whole section and several key players in other parts - but I'm thankful for the pleasure I had - Joni again. Yesterday's steak was better than I anticipated - sirloin isn't our go to cut - and in 2024 £5 for that spec made it seem good value. God finds a way to help one deal with life in this period twixt the fall and the kingdom - it is a prolonged Advent. Sub optimal but like Hardy's thrush singing and @gennepher's creative, gives enough clues that things aren't all they seem (except cauliflower rice, fathead dough and assorted ”swaps:” they are nothing of the kind, don't try to tell me than a pig is a goat) Enjoy Wednesday - even after reading that.
Thank you @ianpspurs, enjoy your day.

It might do @ianpspurs. When I cut out the carbs I decided that I would only eat the food that I really loved. As I had always felt that potatoes, pasta and rice were just tasteless fillers my food actually tasted better.

My problem was that I loved the sweet stuff and was struggling to give it up. Then I watched the Panorama programme which was really horrible. It had a huge impact on me as the neuropathy in my leg had taken a turn for the worse.

I think that I brainwashed myself into believing I hated the sweet stuff. I would be in the queue at Costa Coffee staring at the cakes and would repeat to myself over and over again 'what do I want - eat the cake or keep my feet'. I did that thousands of times. It worked as the neuropathy is no more.
Lauren did similar when she quit smoking ..

Several years now, and she can be swayed like in holiday or family events.

But next day she's right back to disciplined & ruthless

quite admire her will power ...and yours .

nothing we can't do that's within our powers if we apply ourselves.

bravo for you & your well deserved success ..

Thank you. Lauren did really well. A really hard thing to do to give up the smoking.

Good morning everyone on a brisk and windswept start here in the dark and dangerous north. Still, the sun is coming out and the sky has hints of blue and yellow - might be nice, especially if you are wearing roller skates. Small but significant tasks today. Firstly, I have received a text from the pharmacy to tell me that my meds are ready. I also have an appointment to get a shingles jab from the vampire nurse. Later, out for early dinner with daughter and family at Robert De Nero’s favourite restaurant. Will he be waiting, speaking Italian? Or is it just another disappointing lie to make a song sound trendy. Dreadful thought of the day - should I replace that bit of Beethoven in my funeral notes with the theme tune from that old BBC programme Arena? No idea. Put the chimp back in its box you twit, you won’t be involved so why worry. Art bit - a line of trees, over there. Hope you day is a happy one, I shall drink koffy and do my exercises.

Thank you very much @ianpspurs

Sorry, no FBG today.
Been in front garden for the majority of the morning.
Rant coming. Spoiler alert!
if you remember, I said I was leaving it until the wind went away.
That didn't happen! Grrr!
Today was recycling bin day in this area.
And the wind picked a direction that would cause maximum bin falling everywhere on the night.the
so when the bin men came first thing, there wasn't much to empty.
because my front garden became the tip, you could not see the grass or plants. Knee deep in garbage!
And of course, the foliage is under the litter. Aaarrgggh!
Litter pickerupperer, brush and shovel, black bags and a cuppa or three!
I am glad to report I'm knackered, but wind blown out and so far dry but cloudy.
I am so angry, both next doors didn't get much, just mine, why? Aaaaaaasrrrggghhhhhhh!

And the shed roof needs fixing before it rains sgain, ggggrrr!

Fed up of having to do all this and do the chores, shopping, cleaning, care work, doing too much!
I'm not a machine,
Star trek reruns to watch or sleep, will catch up later.

V'ger signal the creator.
Live long and prosper.

Where is Spock and his logic when you need him?

My best wishes to you all as always.

Thank you @gennepher. Luckily nothing owning for me this time. Got home and then a message from Mrs Miggins asking that if I was going into town, that her prescriptions are now ready for collection so could I pop into the pharmacy. I will call in when I go for my Shingles jab at 1600.

Rants are quite under rated so hope that this one was a thruppeny cannon rather than a penny banger.

Good that the steak was better than anticipated. Sirloin isn't our go to cut either.

I must admit that I haven't been at all adventurous with keto and have just stuck to more of what I have always really liked, such as berries, cream and mascapone cheese.

Although I have surprised myself with Montazumas 100% which a class member gave me one year as a Christmas present. I love it so much that I have to severely ration it - as I have to with the peanut butter.

It feels like boasting, but I found the lost driving license in about five minutes. MrSlim has spent hours searching...over several weeks, actually it was in an extremely logical place, in his briefcase, along with birth and marriage certificates etc, in an envelope marked DVLA Swansea. Par avion. Such a good thing it never got posted.
Weeks of unnecessary stress over it finally over. Am now about to go and post both our licences to finish the exchange process.
Brilliant @SlimLizzy . What did Mr Slim say when you found it? :):):)

It's your brain telling porkies because of the effect of the abnormal response to carbs.
It has been used to higher levels so when the brain believes that it would like more glucose, the message is you're hungry.
Same with insulin when you have insulin resistance, first phase then second phase needed because first response doesn't do what it's supposed to..
Big saying in counselling and with anxiety. .......Don't believe what your brain is worrying about.

Im not into alternatives, I follow my science.
Your brain lies!
So who........... do you believe?:angelic:;)
Yes, I agree that the brain lies. Many years ago, when I was training to be a pilates teacher I would think that I was doing an exercise perfectly.

I knew that I wasn't when a certain teacher would ask me what I thought I was doing. She would then make me watch myself in the mirror so I could see that I wasn't doing the exercise correctly even though my brain was telling me that I was doing it perfectly.

I would say........
That certain teacher doesn't know her stuff!
I know my place..... And never, ever try and correct you @Krystyna23040 !!!!

On the first of May 2001, I was given a course of pills, to stop me smoking. Even tho the nurse told me, not to give up! It worked!
I haven't had one, and can't stand them.
I don't mind others smoking..............but Mrs L has often commented that my conversion to a non smoker, has made me grumpy and intolerant to those who wish to partake.
The world's worst often mumbled, in my presence.

Rants are quite under rated so hope that this one was a thruppeny cannon rather than a penny banger.
Not bad, Mrs L has graciously given her approval of the tidy up.
Shed tomorrow.
Got son #3 coming round to help with #8, pity the rest are working. Rain due tomorrow afternoon. And it's Thursday counselling afternoon time.
Got my feet up now, early to my pit, I think.
