What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good morning everyone from a gorgeously dry, bright, clear, wonderfully blue skied if too chilly for me L.A. No known fbg to report. @gennepher thank you for sharing the high quality and intriguing creative. @dunelm thanks for sharing another wonderful piece of art. Busy day ahead of you. I'm wondering how both yourself and the market traders will increase your wealth - Schrödinger's halfpenny? Nice thought to PM Derek. @Krystyna23040 hug for the trip and interesting that fbg is higher than of late - stress/cut back on steps?. It's not all diet driven. We watched the England Wales under 20 rugby last night - some strapping lads on that middle class/public school diet. Full grown chaps today so a poignant time for MIL and JKP when My Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau is sung (hope that's fine by you @alf_Josiah) Proud and much loved Welsh husband and father very much still obviously in their hearts over forty years on. God save the King is awful imho. I like Flower of Scotland but this resonates deeply. Take care today but do let the sunshine in on your life.
Thank you @ianpspurs - I decided to blockade the market with my muck spreader and reaper binder in solidarity with the real farmers

Got caught up in family history again but found some interesting folk on my grandmother's side of the family. One branch back to the 1300's in Wales with some ap Owains, and another branch who appear to have been pretty posh (Lord this and Lady that) who were religious non conformists back when that was a very dangerous thing to be. Lady Margaret Oswald was burned at the stake on the orders of Henry VIII as a "Lollard", her husband, Sir Thomas Harding wanted to read scripture in English and was burned at the stake as a result of that heresy and his mother Elizabeth Del Outhe was to have been executed but a spectator got there first and murdered her (Maybe to save her suffering? I like to think so.) They would all have been Roman Catholics, which was very much a no no under the reign of Henry VIII. I don't share their religious affiliation but I do admire their courage and I'm proud of them. Also noted that on the Welsh line there is a family called Tudor. Is that ironic?
Good that you have so much history. We can’t get further back than my great great grandparents on my mother’s female side. They came to England from Sindh Province in the Punjab (now Pakistan after partition) - My maternal grandmother married an Irishman from Waterford and was the last Romani speaker in our family apart from a great uncle.

Tom's ancestors were from Ireland - on one side anyway. In a census he is described as an Irish pauper. No more details so that's a brick wall - the name isn't uncommon so could have been any one of a number of Irish men.

Been checking the dates that I was a bit shaky on. Those ancestors of mine were not conforming before the King set up the Church of England. So the whole country was catholic and they must have been proto-protestants. That's the fascinating thing about family history - figuring out what the ancestors did and how they lived. Quite surprised to find any "posh" folk there. I thought we had been sons of the soil from Day 1.

Done even more on that line and have now got back to the 1000's to a fellow called Eadnoth who was said the have been a prince of Denmark and have worked for Edward the Confessor, Cnute and William the Conquerer. Someone described him as a "quisling" - he did transfer his loyalty from ruler to ruler but that just means he's a realist and can see the way the cookie is crumbling. As far as I can tell we can't work back any further than that.

Do you mean Eadnoth the Staller also known as Eadnoth the constable 1030 to 1086 perhaps.

Good morning everyone from a wet start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. 5.6 on the prosthetic brain this morning. Crispy duck last night, very pleasant with home made dipping sauce - none of that bottled sugar thank you. Today is another day of mystery and imagination - well, until Mrs Miggins gets up and then who knows what silently scheduled activities will suddenly become clear. Rugby yesterday - very nearly the year of the dragon but it was a game of two halves and as two halves make a whole - the reds fell into it. Art bit - feeling lazy, don’t rock the boat. Hope your day is good to you. Nothing hears yet from @lindisfel. Koffy, must make koffy.

Morning all on Quinquagesima/Shrove/Carnival/Pork Sunday/the greatest show on turf. One of those makes obvious sense Here's a recipe and explanation for the pork reference but since I abhor pork chops I'm passing. I give thanks for what I might call the dogs that didn't bark for me but do for some of you - apparently ACD played in goal for Portsmouth as A C Smith. I have no pain, cramp, disturbed sleep or odd dreams (rarely have any) thanks be to God for all those blessings. @dunelm good news on the crispy duck and thanks for sharing the art. There are hills otherwise the vast open skies and few trees could easily be Fenland. I hope Derek and/or Marjorie are ok. No pork here today, that was last Sunday, chicken for a scaled back family lunch with #3 son who is kindly doing some decorating. Moscow, tea won't drink itself. I simply insist y'all have the most marvellous day possible - will Tayvis triumph, enrage The Donald and help the free world shake it/him off?

5.5 this morning.

@ianpspurs it does look as though the 6.0 yesterday morning was stress driven. I was so worried that it would get worse and worse but luckily it actually got better and better. For once I was very sensible and did even fewer steps yesterday.

@gennepher your advice about using a chair really worked well.

Instead of patrolling up and down the hall I strategically placed it where I could see everyone clearly and only got up to correct anyone who was not doing an exercise correctly. It dramatically reduced my steps and my foot didn't hurt at all.

Brilliant @Krystyna23040

I am glad you used a chair where possible.

@gennepher thank you for sharing that mysterious creative which fits perfectly with a mind bending exegesis I read this morning. Basically as far as I could tell the writer was saying if we try to read people's thoughts in their faces they can see what we are doing., we can see that they know what we are doing and anyhow we both just see our own reflected in their eyes and faces. How that explains 2 Corinthians I'm not sure BUT it fits that mysterious creative as in who knows where all this is leading? Is this an experience you have encountered with lip reading? Have a song

6.8 this soccer Saturday. Hate that Americanism of our beautiful beloved game.
Tell your Yankee mates that it is association football.

Bad sleep last night, something upset my stomach and some up with indigestion, heartburn and a lot of wind.
Have taken tablets but I'm getting burning sensation when I drink my cuppa, gonna wait till later and have a light salad.
Love the artwork, so jealous.

@dogslife , I would like to be empathetic towards your loss.
The effect, my mother's last few days were awful for myself and family.
After a stroke, my mum was comatose. And through that week, I was there for the majority of that time, just sitting with her, holding her hand. My responsibility in decision making with my brothers, to let her die.
I fully understand it all.

I will say that the support we received at that time was beyond excellent.

I now look back on that final week as precious, a fond memory of being there when I was needed.
You won't realise similar emotions till later.
You really couldn't do much more than being with your mother. And I'm sure your presence would be appreciated by her.

My best wishes.

And to the rest of you as well. Have a nice weekend.

So sorry to hear of your loss .xxx

Such a traumatic time.
Having to stand by while mum was in distress.....a terrible ordeal.

I do feel for you, like you, I felt reassured when my dad went into hospital, that everything was ok.

I too went home, exhausted having had little sleep over several days, full-time work, attending to mum at the home & popping up to see dad when he began feeling especially unwell.

I'd barely got home, before my call came from the hospital.

My heart breaks for you.

I think the thought mum isn't suffering any more & is at peace is perhaps the thing to hang on to right now

I pray the loving memories of her brings you some solace at this sad time.

As for posting, you keep on doing it when you need to.

I think the previous posters prove that

it's what we do best here.

Being there, for our forums friends IS who we are.

We're good at sharing & offering advice or a shoulder to lean on.

But even with that, there are sadly always going to be times when comforting & listening is all we can do.

Those moments like this, when life gets too hard, just knowing we can post here, & be listened to & supported by each other is a blessing.

We've all been there I think, and are better for it, that we have the richness of such a special space to unburden ourselves, among such good people.

i hope you feel able to do so whenever the need arises.

I'm sure I'm not alone in hoping that just posting may help.
Even if it is just hearing that you're doing as ok as can be expected.

We each lean on others at some point.
We're here if needed.

Sincere condolences.
May mum rest in eternal peace
Thank you@jjraak for your support.
