What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

5.8 at 4am this morning. Mr K is on his way to our daughter in Surrey - which is why we were up so early. She has bought his car and he is delivering it to her. I am on a Zoom course and am relaxing with a coffee before taking Poppy for a walk.

A friend is following Mr K down and daughter is going to make them bacon sandwiches before they head back to Norfolk.

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny start to the day here on the west coast. Lovely drive over yesterday and mint cake was successfully avoided when we stopped in Kendal for lunch. Pleasant little self contained annex to stay in with Herdwick sheep in the field next door. Plan for today is to visit a couple of small towns, get a train over the estuary, have a walk in some woods and have dinner in a pub. Pub is a pleasant 1 mile stroll down to the village and then an interesting 1 mile climb back in countryside darkness, carrying a torch to alert speeding farmers of our presence on the narrow lane. Art bit - wet on wet watercolour and then lines applied with a dip pen. Hope your day, whatever it is called, is a pleasant one. Koffy time.

Morning all from L.A. where there was a frost to start Saturday. Expect the price of fruit and veg to reach for the stars - "late" frost cut the crop guv. Prep for tomorrow included having breakfast at 7.00 then lunch at 12.00 then no more solid food until at least 17.00 hrs Sunday. I made a Faustian pact with a slice of white toast - keto bread is off .limits - lots of butter, a piece of cheese and plenty of lemon Darjeeling tea. The fun starts at 19.00 with an encore at 6.00 am tomorrow. I'm no longer a sprinter. Oh, deep, deep joy. @Krystyna23040 what a good father Mr K is and two bacon sandwiches is a bargain for a car. Your daughter must be a good negotiator. :D Plenty of cricket, football and rugby to occupy me. @dunelm enjoy your day and thanks for sharing the art. @JohnEGreen 73 not out, 74 is just a gentle nudge away - good man. Y'all have as good a day as possible.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and all except the media peddling doom gloom and depression. Whatever you perceive things to be it is still a beautiful world and remember the words of Issac Asimov “ Violence is the last resort of the incompetent “

Blood sugars this morning were 7.8 I shall not complain that level is well within my hospital given range.

Today here in Tilehurst Towers it will be a day of discussion and planning, ie me, me’s and myself sitting quietly nodding my head at suitable points while Mrs J tells me what is planned for me. Yes I know my place. Later Mrs J might trim my beard or might not, it’s a mystery.

What do you all know about ear worms? Tunes that you cannot stop thinking about one that is rattling round my brain is “ Windmills of your mind “ from the film The Thomas Crown Affair.
Unfortunately that tune or song is mixed up with another song by a group called The Firm the song is “ Startrekking across the universe “ These two songs have no relevance to each other and are doing my brain in…..
Going for a cold shower, bye.

There are lots of incompetent people out there - not a problem unless they have power to go with it. Unfortunately, there are quite a few displaying both incompetence and power. The world is a bit like the curate's egg at the moment - beautiful in some parts, but horrendous in others. We seem to be living through times even more violent than ever. Of course, there have always been wars and petty violence and, I imagine, it was pretty horrendous to be facing an enemy wielding a sword or an axe - those warriors back then must have had a lot of courage - but our times, and our warriors, while not seeing each other face to face for the most part, are still having to face utter horror with a huge amount of courage. In some ways, we are all warriors, whether we choose to be or not. We live in a world where violence seems to be quite normal, both in individual lives and in the world of politics. What have we done - we who grew up under the shadow of the deprivation and pain that the 2nd WW brought and of the Cold War? Our generation had the opportunity to stop this happening, but we apparently didn't understand the dangers the systems we established would bring. Nor did we understand the damage that our consumerism would do. We thought we could have it all in the 60's. The sky was the limit, and even that was there to be exploited. So, can we blame the following generations for the way they are taking this beautiful home of ours?

OK - enough. These thoughts are what comes of waking up too early. 0140 today with BG of 8.4.

Amazing art bit @dunelm
Have fun today...

@Annb
Deep words and thoughts, far beyond my pay grade in understanding, but I tend towards being an aggressive pacifist. Also disagree if you must, but I don’t think the world is any more violent now than it has been for millennial apart from world wars.
What has changed is the capacity of the media to report the conflicts and general negativity contributing to a climate of fear and depression.

Now if it does not cause offence I think I shall go and listen to Monty Python’s “ always look on the bright side of life “
