What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Tried to make an appointment to speak to a GP but they are fully booked all day and can't even phone. Apparently they have a list of "urgent" patients with more than 40 people on it, waiting to be fitted in. I'll try again tomorrow but symptoms are worsening and I'm not sure what to do about it. Just relax and put up with it I suppose. Don't think it's anything particularly worrisome, just sore.

Up late this morning at 0845 with BG 5.9. Happy with that. Up into the 9's now after a cup of tea with milk. Something in tea with milk does that for some reason, but I'm not about to give it up. Fruit tea isn't for me, nor is coffee (same effect anyway), nor tea without milk - at least in winter, nor water. So tea it is and with milk.

Found a whole lot of leather items that have grown mould on them in a cupboard so Have slowly been trying to clean them up - not an easy task. There is a good leather belt (too small for me now) which is proving difficult. I guess that's because it was never polished so had no protection. It may be a lost cause. The handbag that Tom bought me for my 21st birthday has been polished in the past, and will recover. Two briefcases will also recover, but do I need briefcases any more? One was Tom's and the other mine. Both good quality. Do people use briefcases any more? I used to lug marking and study materials as well as my own study materials for my MA in mine - big and capacious. What to do with them? Charity shop probably - maybe some use to someone. First to get them clean and polished again.

Hug for the appointment issues. How many of the urgent cases could have been resolved if people were seen earlier? Can this much touted service be of use especially if you emphasise a sore throat? That and or 111? You take care as you too are definitely urgent since the issue has been going on for so long.

@dunelm7 miles is impressive - how's the back?. Safe journey home, enjoy the grandchildren and thanks for sharing the art. @gennepher keep sharing the daffs especially Friday. Final piece of anti Populist sentiment/logic. CUH is part of this sprawling complex which is the essence of the high tech, cutting edge, prestige hub "they" would have us believe Britain develops and runs tout seul. Inconveniently for them the reality is the money, brains, staff and skills are overwhelmingly not British - even the Govt money is borrowed, let's be honest it is like a home improvement loan/mortgage extension - but the benefits are symbiotic the very essence of a body: the body of Christ made so, so real imho. Abraham's seed as promised.
Thank you @ianpspurs - Back yesterday morning was the Mayor of Complaining City after the 9 miles on Saturday but a mixed bag of pain relief had it sorted for the rest of the day. Today - fine.

That looks like a useful service, Ian. Thanks for that. Unfortunately, on this occasion, it won't be of any help. I'll try again tomorrow and see if I can talk to a doctor. Maybe there won't be so much of a queue on a Tuesday. I guess whateve is going on with me is more chronic than urgent.

Edit: Neil has found a way to take the mould stains off of the leather belt. It is now hanging up to dry and will then need rewaxing.

Ok gut microbiome - Timmy'sTumTumPosse? - here's a link to his beloved 4 Ks. Not the Sikh 5 Ks so wind yer neck in GB news watchers. It all sounds so easy but is it, is it really though? Easier than asking JKP to add them to the Ocado delivery then click on add to regular order? Other suppliers are available obviously so once again watch those protruding necks. Granted the commercial ones may not be perfick/orfentick enough for the purists but if life is/was too short to stuff a mushroom/olive (do they rear and slaughter their own livestock or milk their own almonds/oats/peas?) give your heads a wobble people. Like, peace out man - no bad vibes.

Going to try the kombucha - might make an acceptable alternative to the tea that puts my BG up so high.

Agree with @ianpspurs here

Not sure how it works your way.

For me it's been.
Online consultation.
(Call from a doctor or texted prescription etc)
Call to surgery...
(Hopefully call back if no appointment)
111 if none of that sorts the issue.
Then Off to A&E, with some good books to read
(3-5 hours waits about the limit )

All may or may not be possible, but you're worth the effort.

Afraid it isn't so predictable here.

* Online consultation ends in a recommendation to contact your GP but won't send information to them.
* Call from a GP has to be booked, if there is a phone appointment available.
* 111 says see GP since it isn't urgent.
* When a phone appointment is available GP will call and send out a prescription (3 so far, and no improvement).
* Eventually a further phone appointment may lead to a face to face consultation.
* A&E won't accept anything but the most urgent cases - accident, heart attack, bleeding, stroke etc.

I'll try again tomorrow. May tell them it's become more urgent/worsening, which is true.

Good morning everyone from what looks to be another smasher of a day here on the West coast. A drive down to Morecambe yesterday for a sunny walk down a very long prom. 7 miles in total. Off home today, we have grandparent duties later in the afternoon. Art bit - a tree near the house, well part of it. All the best for today @JohnEGreen and hope you all have a pleasant day. I need some koffy.

A beautiful drawn tree trunk @dunelm

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and the aliens that might be watching us, analysing everything we do and say, I say to them get a life. Not only, but also Mrs J, me, me’s and myself would like to be the first to wish you all a happy Christmas.

Blood sugars this morning were 5.7

Unsupervised is the key word for today, mischief and other such things are well into the planning stage.

It is now time the walrus said to talk elsewhere of other things, but firstly I must go down to the sea again, the lonely sea and the sky, I left my shoes and socks there, I wonder if they are dry. @dunelm
@gennepher I like daffodils and welcome to this thread @parasthackral .Lastly best wishes to those having medical procedures.

Bye bye.
Thanks @alf_Josiah

Hugs for you @Annb
I hope you get sorted tomorrow with the docs...

Wales has a CommonAilments Service that you can go to see your pharmacist for treatment for without seeing a GP, but everything on their list that I have had problems with in the past, I have dealt with myself by buying the appropriate over the counter stuff myself. I wouldn't go and see a doc anyway for any of the things that I have had on that list.

In Wales you have to register with one pharmacy to be able to use this service, preferably one that you get your regular meds from, so they know what you have had and when.

I can see this service having a use for first port of call if you have children.

EDIT: 1am next day ..I have been reading Ian's link again. The English site has a lot of excellent merit in the facilities it offers from pharmacies, the Welsh site is absolutely useless by compassion...

I make my own kefir. It probably takes a lot less than 10 minutes each evening. Must time it to see just how long it takes.
