What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Busy morning here and other places call.

I need to drive shortly so did everything to make sure my blood sugars would above my and the legal safe limit, I think I was successful hence a 9.2 never mind it’s not the end of the world as we know it.

Good morning everyone on a bit of a late start here in the dark and dangerous north. 5.6 when I eventually tested. Yesterday, well, after school, painting with The Girl In The Bubble - splodging paint. Art bit - “let’s drop some more red ink on grandad” - what fun! Have a smashing day if you enjoy the day of Mars. I must make a late koffy and get moving.

The badger was very active last night. I could see him from my bed while I was trying to sleep.
The swing cloths were all over the ground, soggy wet because of rain...now I need to replace them for Cat Jade today.
Just been editing these video clips now this minute...

Wildlife nighttime video
Badger was pulling and yanking at the swing cloths all night...they had all been tied on.
There is a whole pile more clips of last night and Pa Badger
Prior to this Foxy Loxy had snarled at him and chased him away. Foxy Loxy usually shares the peanuts, but he must have been hungry today. When Foxy Loxy left, Pa Badger came back, there were no peanuts left, and it looked like he was venting his frustrations on the swing cloths. He did this, on and off, for a few hours. In between this, Cat Jade slept on her disarrayed cloths until she heard Pa Badger come back. Jade goes to the back of the swing where I have tarpaulin covering garden stuff, and watches Pa Badger. Then she climbs straight back on the swing the moment he leaves.

Creative (digital sketch) is my feelings today after the abortive visit to the bank (which is closing down in a few days) who were supposed to help me get on to Internet banking, but the bank lady failed. Also she failed in helping me as a deaf person, so I could communicate with them, which the bank letter and also texts as well from the bank promised to help me with if I personally called in. I had called in last week but the bank lady had said she couldn't do it last week, but said if I called in this week she could connect me up to Internet Banking.

This is my High Street at present, and this is only a fraction of the shops that have closed down or closing down since Christmas.

Even the Big Issue people have left, and there are no more people begging in doorways.

I am not very good at drawing buildings. I envy people who can...

There are many older people who use this bank, and many I suspect do not have a computer/tablet/or the internet.
In addition we are losing the personal touch, the personal contact with people.
My world for actual personal contact is getting smaller and smaller.
But my online world is very big...

Such a shame that this is happening to so many small and large businesses. We used to live in Saltcoats in Ayrshire and years ago the high street had very few shops left - the rest taken over by charity shops. They seemed to be the only ones who could attract customers.

A great portrayal of the state of affairs in UK.

I thought my bank was being remiss when they failed to inform me that my browser would no longer work for internet banking and I had to work it out for myself - I complained about that. But that is nothing when compared to a branch just closing, especially in such a short time.

Because I can't get out and about very much, I'd already lost contact with what happens in the world out there so online connections are very valuable. Just as well I have Neil, but he doesn't notice what happens, so I don't get any local news. Alistair isn't much better. They probably get that trait from me, so I can't complain.
 
Morning all from a wet L.A. No fbg here but it would probably have been above trend since it is my turn to host the family bug which meant I cancelled the 8.00 am bloods. I'll visit the drive thru facility later in the week. @dunelm and @gennepher thanks for sharing the art. I may be blessed or just never really used banks or the post office so don't miss them. When we moved here - about 2 months before lockdown 1 - it was apparent that I would never make much use of this town. We had done our "big shop" online for more than a decade. I know the brands, styles and sizes of clothing I prefer so shop online. Apart from dog walks, Church and swimming lessons I rarely left base "back home" except to visit family. I will use a narrow range of brick shops. Not sure if that makes me a miserablist but it does mean I'm less impacted by high street closures. My medical appointments, consultations and prescriptions are currently all done online or by phone call apart from Drip trips. Bloods can be done without leaving my car. Apparently I'm good company when I do mix but it isn't something I want because I'm blessed with JKP and family. I did see the extent of the carnage last time we visited Cambridge - Debenhams closure had impacted a whole swathe of other shops and food outlets. I sympathise with those who rely on the disappearing world. I would almost certainly use Ely more. @JohnEGreen I hope and pray either today is the day or you are home. Peace be with you all.

Yep, non doms, off shore accounts, hedge fund 'b'ankers ( ;) ) MPs & their dodgy mates prove how poorly trickle down economics works.

You are very lucky @ianpspurs

I was a single mother of 3 children (my ex was more interested in elsewhere), and so it was literally living within the pennies in my purse, and bargaining. That kind of lifestyle you describe was never within my reach.

Also with being deaf, I never had the luxury of using the telephone, which was essential in those days, and still is. I literally had to walk, catch the bus to hospital and doctors and everything else etc etc just to make an appointment. It was always assumed everyone could use the telephone. And if I did get my friend D to ring on my behalf, it was often said to her, that she (me) has to make the phone call, they (whoever they were, the bank, whatever) could not deal with my friend D, because of security reasons. So, I ended up having to physically walk the 5+ miles there and back to town, just to deal with the bank.

It was the same when J was with me. They (whoever they were) would not let him telephone on my behalf because of security reasons again. This would be bank, gas board, electric board etc etc etc.

There was text relay then, 1990's, but it was different and involved a separate physical telephone, but there was always problems with the Baud rate, and instead of words scrolling on the phone, it degenerated into unintelligible symbols. Also the banks and other organisations refused to deal with me using that text relay, because it involved a real life human operator, in between me and them, to read the messages I sent to the organisation into the spoken word. And they said it was not secure and refused to accept the call.

I am happiest now, with everything that has happened recently, with my gates being locked and being a hermit... @Annb
