What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

You are very lucky @ianpspurs

I was a single mother of 3 children (my ex was more interested in elsewhere), and so it was literally living within the pennies in my purse, and bargaining. That kind of lifestyle you describe was never within my reach.

Also with being deaf, I never had the luxury of using the telephone, which was essential in those days, and still is. I literally had to walk, catch the bus to hospital and doctors and everything else etc etc just to make an appointment. It was always assumed everyone could use the telephone. And if I did get my friend D to ring on my behalf, it was often said to her, that she (me) has to make the phone call, they (whoever they were, the bank, whatever) could not deal with my friend D, because of security reasons. So, I ended up having to physically walk the 5+ miles there and back to town, just to deal with the bank.

It was the same when J was with me. They (whoever they were) would not let him telephone on my behalf because of security reasons again. This would be bank, gas board, electric board etc etc etc.

There was text relay then, 1990's, but it was different and involved a separate physical telephone, but there was always problems with the Baud rate, and instead of words scrolling on the phone, it degenerated into unintelligible symbols. Also the banks and other organisations refused to deal with me using that text relay, because it involved a real life human operator, in between me and them, to read the messages I sent to the organisation into the spoken word. And they said it was not secure and refused to accept the call.
I agree I'm blessed and sympathise with you and others who need the services which are rapidly disappearing. I have relatives who are or were on their own for decades and have been unable or eventually told to stop driving. I know how much they needed physical services and social gatherings. Judging by grocery, takeaway food and Amazon deliveries in this close few actually use physical retailers much. Bearing in mind the sheer number of US service people working shifts this area has an above average number of drive thru and delivery outlets. As far as I can tell anyone relying on public transport in this area is stuffed.

The badger was very active last night. I could see him from my bed while I was trying to sleep.
The swing cloths were all over the ground, soggy wet because of rain...now I need to replace them for Cat Jade today.
Just been editing these video clips now this minute...

Wildlife nighttime video
Badger was pulling and yanking at the swing cloths all night...they had all been tied on.
There is a whole pile more clips of last night and Pa Badger
Prior to this Foxy Loxy had snarled at him and chased him away. Foxy Loxy usually shares the peanuts, but he must have been hungry today. When Foxy Loxy left, Pa Badger came back, there were no peanuts left, and it looked like he was venting his frustrations on the swing cloths. He did this, on and off, for a few hours. In between this, Cat Jade slept on her disarrayed cloths until she heard Pa Badger come back. Jade goes to the back of the swing where I have tarpaulin covering garden stuff, and watches Pa Badger. Then she climbs straight back on the swing the moment he leaves.

Creative (digital sketch) is my feelings today after the abortive visit to the bank (which is closing down in a few days) who were supposed to help me get on to Internet banking, but the bank lady failed. Also she failed in helping me as a deaf person, so I could communicate with them, which the bank letter and also texts as well from the bank promised to help me with if I personally called in. I had called in last week but the bank lady had said she couldn't do it last week, but said if I called in this week she could connect me up to Internet Banking.

This is my High Street at present, and this is only a fraction of the shops that have closed down or closing down since Christmas.

Even the Big Issue people have left, and there are no more people begging in doorways.

I am not very good at drawing buildings. I envy people who can...

Have your best kind of day.

Breakfast and a cup of tea for me now...

A poignant illustration of the death of high streets

6.9 for whatever reason.
Another quiet day.
remiss of me not to mention #8 has a swollen ankle and limping around but won't stop, he is a replica of #2 son, a Tasmanian devil! Latest victim of his incessant rampage, is one of Mrs L 's ornaments. Mrs L hasn't noticed yet, but no doubt who will get the blame.
remiss of me not to mention that yesterday was my mum's birthday, she would have been 102 and my anxiety and guilt levels were OTT. Maybe I didn't want to post this.

A beautiful but cold morning, cloudy with not meatballs but haddock with side salad main meal later.

One of the reasons why high street is crumbling is big supermarket chains. Another is government interest is only in the biggest multinationals, predominately American and the oil and gas industry.
Not the people who have to put up with this form of capitalism.

Our chancellor had donated a lot of cash to his local constituency party. I wonder if this is legal? I wonder why the party hierarchy haven't funded the incumbent MP enough? No donors from the V.I.P lane?
They are corrupt!
Self interested.
Criminal?

My best wishes to you all as always!

Good morning everyone on a pretty dull yet fully alive start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. A morning of chores lies ahead but as I am only riding shotgun I don’t need to know details - Wall’s have ice cream and all that. I made hot and sour chicken and mushroom soup for our dinner last night - there is some left over which will make a base for something else, but not tonight. The butcher has promised a nice cut of lamb for today so collecting that is my primary task. The French are having a go at banning the use of meaty words for vegan products as they say it’s confusing for the consumer - absolutely nothing to do with pressure from farmers. So what do we now call Burger végétarien? I bet there is no vegan version of Andouillette sausage - sensible. Anyhow - good luck with that when it ends up on some rubber stamp desk deep in the bowels of Brussels. Art bit - pier out to see. Quite small and a practice run for something that Mrs Miggins wants. Have a smashing day if you can. I need koffy and then a long run up to getting the bins organised for tomorrow.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and those ov a sensitive nature, me, me’s and myself wish you no harm, but my posts inadvertently could offend you, that also is applicable to the affictionardos ( cheque spelling) ov the correct use ov the written engrish language.

Blood sugars this morning were a board game dice winner, yep a straight 6.0

As usual for a Wednesday it’s a covid test day and thankfully the result was -ve, not only but also stand in the indoor rain cabinet, plinky plonky lessons and hopefully the religious zealots will ingnore me as I walk through the centre of Reading to get my lift home. That’s me, me’s and myself’s day.
I sincerely hope your day is enjoyable and brings a smile to your face.

As somebody said we pass this way but once, unless you are lost and refuse to ask for directions.

Time to go said Zebedee.

Stop, delete all, Mrs J is singing at me……..

Nighttime wildlife camera...

Fox on the swing - a very busy night on the swing...

Creative...what can I say again? This did not turn out as I intended.
I thought I would draw it before I fell asleep last night...
I was pleased with my drawing ('Peter my darling' spell grammar changed that previous bit to), and then I was adding a bit more black bit when I yawned and dozed off still holding that iPad...
I woke up to find my finger had slipped and tapped of its own volition, and put in the colour fill of that blue sky. I like that I thought. So carried on working on it but the inevitable happened and I fell asleep.
I woke up this time to thinking where's my iPad?
It was under the cat (Midnight)...
So retrieved it. But battery was nearly running out, I leave it permanently on, so it doesn't go off by itself...
I was disappointed at what it had altered to, so put iPad away and went to sleep.

Opened iPad this morning, and I've changed my mind. I like it!
Who created this? We'll call this a happy accident!

These are some toadstools in my garden...

I drew this In SketchClubApp.

This grammar spellcheck (or whatever its official name is) is a nuisance for what it is altering things to. It even altered its own correctly spelt name to 'grandma'. If I tap on the word it has changed, it goes back to the word I had just typed....

Time for a cuppa...

Then...

An adventure calls...
Bye...
Expect some quick line sketches for tomorrow's creative...

Good morning all. No point testing this morning as I know my level will be raised. Today is mum's funeral and I have to admit to feeling more than a little anxious. I have done all I can. I now have to trust that all will go according to plan. We visited mum yesterday in the chapel of rest at the funeral parlor. She was dressed beautifully in a pink satin gown but didn't look like my dear mum. For the reception I have prepared albums of photographs and typed mine and other people's memories of mum as well as copies of the obituary in case anyone wants to look at them. She was loved by so many. I was blessed to have mum for so long. To stop myself from self pity I just think of all those poor people losing loved ones in war torn countries in the most terrible of conditions and pray for them every day. My best wishes to you all.

Morning all. Spoiler alert for all those on the edge of their seats eagerly anticipating that Jeremy Hunt's huge 87p a week will enable them to invest in Bitcoin - you may be bitterly disappointed come the day's end. @dunelm enjoy the lamb and thanks for sharing the art. I like the blue of the sea but then I'm a rum cove. @Krystyna23040 great fbg and good news on the clothing repairs. Our dogs aren't keen on JKP's money saving idea of Lidl kibble even with an aspirational egg and cod liver oil capsule. Can dogs be too woke? Today may not be the day you would choose but embrace it with arms as wide open as you can manage. @JohnEGreen thoughts and prayers with you.

Hug for the anxiety but huge winner for all the love so evident in every word and thought of that post. Your words there are a wonderful tribute to your mum as she clearly showed you how to love. I'm certain all present will feel the thought and love you have given to today. God be with you and grant you his peace today and always.
