What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good morning everyone on what just might be another shorts and t shirt day here in the dark and dangerous north. Pretty restless night - up and down like a yo-yo in the world yo-yo competition. No point testing this morning as the meter may display something rude. Down onto the lower promenade quite early yesterday, before the crowds. Sat outside The Ship for a koffy, watching the surfers. The pub folk have now re-installed metal railings on top of the sea wall after getting the hint when spring tides demolished their nice new wooden fence a couple of times. It was metal railings for years before the pub was taken over by Green King last year and ‘done up’. Still 18thC on the outside but the inside now looks like the inside of any number of ghastly theme pubs. I have a cabbage to use up today so will sauté it with onion, garlic, chilli flakes and coriander and freeze in portions. We can re-heat, give it a squeeze of lime, top with some feta and pretend that we are in Corfu. Art bit, a gnarly bit of tree. Hope your day includes at lest two smiles. Best get some koffy on the go.
Great gnarly tree @dunelm
Hope the coffee was good...

Creative...I am In a coffee shop having a herbal tea...he was at the table in front of me with, presumably, his wife. He got annoyed, got up and went to the counter. Their table was empty of any dishes, so, I assume they were waiting for their order. This is him coming back, still annoyed. He had man boobs, and I was going to get them in my one line sketch, but when I lifted my finger from the screen, I realised I had not managed to get them in the drawing...I generally draw with my finger, and I cannot see what I am doing on the screen as I am doing it...

Outside my bedroom window I can see sparrows feeding their babies, and cat Jade walking past. Midnight is asleep in my arms like a baby, hindering me writing this...

I'll join him in a minute for a quick nap...

Have a good day.

9.8 this morning - not good. That was after nearly 12 last night when I went to bed. It's due to the change in insulin following request from diabetes nurse (reduce basal). Don't mind doing that but it's leading to having to dose more with bolus, which I do mind, especially since it led to a bit of yo-yoing yesterday afternoon.

Had to ask Neil to turn my bedroom radiator off this morning. That's after he got the system working so the house is a bit warm, but the bedroom was too warm (I don't like a warm bedroom - stops me sleeping).

Done some washing and loaded the dishwasher and tha's me worn out already, but there's more to do so I'll have to get on.

Great sketch @gennepher - thank you for sharing. Enjoy the nap.

Morning all (kalimera to our travel correspondent) on a dull start to the week in L.A. Definitely not tee shirt and shorts weather for me but some brave/foolish souls have already donned that outfit. @dunelm thank you for sharing the art which puts me in mind of a creature from one of the animations beloved of my grandchildren. Although they need surreptitious hugs when they appear but don't tell their friends. @alf_Josiah hugs for you and Mrs A J. @Krystyna23040 I hope the diary secretary has scheduled some breaks. Cricket in New York to watch later. Quite a history to the game in the USA but allegedly fell out of vogue after the Civil War. Enjoy Monday especially if you have some good weather. Yamas to you @jjraak. RIP Rob Burrow.
Yes @ianpspurs the diary secretary has scheduled some breaks and then the A47 Southern Bypass very kindly scheduled another one as one client was stuck there in a traffic jam after some sort of incident.

Good sketch - is that flouncing?

6.3 this morose manic mildest morning.
Fed up today.
Boiler is not working properly.
Phoned housing, came out within a couple of hours, mainly cos of Mrs L 's needs, needs a new part.
Coming back in morning, along with electrician for shower and another for shower assessment. Fingers crossed.
Started has pipe work at junction corner and they will be working the way down towards our house.
Road down to single file traffic, new traffic lights everywhere. Three schools in neighbourhood, and the road is so busy around peak hours. Nightmare!

It is freezing around here.
The wind from the North is whistling right through even the workmen are hiding in their cabs.
Rain due tonight and tomorrow, not happy not being in garden.

Kitchen duties to be done.
I'm fed up!
Nothing makes me feel good today.
F..............!

Kalamera everyone.
it is so good to be alive.
cricket startingsoon.
euros to come.
warmer weather from next week.
And all the work done by end of June.
Mrs L is a bit better today.
I'm cooking my favourite.
could do with a walk in the brisk wind to use my endless energy.
Gonna have an early night.
happy days
I've just thought.........!
no bother!!!!!

BG finally got down into the 5's. It's been higher than I wanted all day because I did as the nurse asked and dropped my basal insulin from 54u to 48u since Friday morning. To keep it even in the 9's over the weekend, I've had to take extra bolus insulin. I don't like that and I don't want to do it. The nurse thinks it's dangerous for me to be at pre-diabetes levels, which I was. :p

I just don't get it. I'm going my own way, unless someone can explain to me why it's dangerous. All the nurse says is that at that level I'm at risk of hypos. At her preferred level I'm at risk of hypers so I'm not accepting that. I want to be at normal levels, not even pre-diabetes. I could pop off any time, of course, who knows? But I could have another 10 or so years in me and I would prefer to be as near normal as possible. Of course, I appreciate that no-one in our family is "normal" - all a bit odd one way or another. DIL bought Alistair a tee shirt announcing "You wouldn't understand it, it's a {family name} thing. She's not wrong!
