What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good morning everyone on a blissfully quiet start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. It was a good day yesterday. Most of my days are good days and so far I have continued to both wake up and also to move! As well as all the goings on trying to remember the glory and the stupidity of the past we wished our grandson a happy 15th birthday. Some annoying pain in my right calf muscle when walking into town and the usual lower back whining and complaining and my hands are seizing up more than usual. The are probably still in winter. Found an old pair of shoes that thought they were on shoe death row, awaiting execution. A stay I say - must be at least another two pennyworth out of them. Modern shoes are really comfy right out of the box but unfortunately are not very good when it comes to replacing soles and heels. Modern is not necessarily an improvement. Art bit - a couple of creaky old trees. Hope you can manage to decide to have a good day. I will make some koffy and have a little read.
It is like @dunelm your trees are having an animated conversation

5.9 at 03.45 today. Didn't stay that low though and currently at 7.9. Same before breakfast as after.

Wet and chilly here. The guttering above the kitchen window must have been blocked with something because it has started pouring water out onto the path below. Another thing Neil will have to check. Starlings have a habit of picking moss off of the roof and chucking it down into the gutters or onto the paths and ramp, so I imagine that will be the problem.

7.25am FBG 6.1
After our French conversation session this morning MrSlim is finishing off one or two little jobs around the house. This includes fitting a vent in the roof for the family bathroom extractor. After a while looking at the job and setting up ladders MrSlim came to find me. He thinks he might be getting old - he doesnt want to go on the roof with just a ladder - Will I help put up the scaffold?

Sensible MrSlim. No point taking chances. You don't have to be getting on in years to slip and fall.

Soz you lot.
No FBG, Late on parade, and I'm staying until the end! Unless someone wants an interview.
It was a very cool morning, bright sunshine, but cloudy at times, lot of rain overnight and lawns not getting any attention as I had planned, by dinnertime (lunch grrrr!) It had warmed up to get Mrs L and myself out into the garden for half an hour. Then it rained, the wind got up and that was that!

Anywho, had the appointment with an electrician from the housing and he has said it's possible for a shower to be plumbed in, and just needs signing off now by the boss. Fingers, legs, knees, toes, eyes all crossed.

Mrs L asked why it wasn't being done today three times.

Spent the rest of the morning giving a sprjng, winter, ???? Clean up in front room, similar to a Christmas, spring clean or in other words, the figurines, ornaments, glassware and the shelving got a **** good seeing to.

Had a really good day. Got everything done and the course was really brilliant with so much information on how the body works.

It has actually fried my brain so I am so pleased I cancelled the evening classes as there is no way I could have taught the classes.

Yesterday's deep joy, for those who enjoy being vicarious tourists ...
(Restaurant in the mountains overlooking our resort. And the top barmen at the end of a busy shift )

All good here.

Knee being a nuisance yesterday, so first public holiday outing with the cane.

Felt a tad foolish & old, if I'm honest, but it was the only way to manage.

Thankfully I impersonated the stiff upper lip & channelled my very best David Niven.

All went well, i rather doubt many even barely noticed how uncomfortable it made me feel....ho hum Screenshot_2024-06-07-13-03-24-004_com.google.android.apps.photos.jpgScreenshot_2024-06-07-13-07-33-041-edit_com.google.android.apps.photos.jpgIMG_20240607_002946~2.jpg

Kay Sera Sera .

Peace out my lovelies

Yamas! @jjraak

Friday's FBG 4.6 mmol/L on waking at 6.00 am.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and those who know when to leave the party and when not.

Blood sugars this morning were firstly 4.3 and secondly a few seconds afterwards 4.0 oh hum. Toasted jam sarnies, yummy my favourite, after vegan bacon sarnies.

Onwards and following the seam at the coal face ov life and with full intentions ov putting a full shift in.

In few minutes Mrs J’s alarm will make noises which will mean my shift starts.
Me, me’s and myself are going to be very decadent this evening homemade steak pie and veggies ov sum sort.
That’s my day taken care ov.

Alarm and crash has just sounded, Mrs J must have thrown the alarm at the wall…..again.

Stay safe and smile at the antics ov the media and politicians.

Good morning everyone on another splendidly quiet start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. 5.2 this a.m., and without even trying. Allegedly a big row broke out last night between two angry women about who could win an abuse throwing shouting contest jeered on by sniping bystanders. It was all caught on camera and shown on the telly. Didn’t see it myself so not sure if it’s just fake news to catch the attention of those suffering from Electile Dysfuncion. I hear that the daft idea of national service has been binned after the Prime Minature (stupid boy) gave in after only half a day. Oh well, it’s another day and we have veterans breakfast club this morning followed by the Farmers Market where everything that you can buy in a shop can be proudly purchased on a feel good market stall for only half as much again. Art bit - a couple of trees pretending that they are not deep in conversation. Hope you are enjoying the return of early spring. I simply must make some koffy for myself and then take Mrs Miggins a mug of tea.

6.7 this morning . Off to classes in Norwich shortly.

Have ordered a book written by the teacher of the course yesterday as I think what I learnt yesterday about how the body works was really important and I need to get it right before I start teaching it. It fits in really well with the direction my teaching is going in at the moment.

Am looking forward to part 2 of the course in two weeks time.

5.9 at 04.30 today. Then up a bit, then down a bit. Currently at 6.0. I'll be happy enough if it stays around that.

I bit the bullet and got Neil to order me a new PC yesterday - along with adaptors to make connections to my existing monitor and keyboard. With any luck, that will solve all my problems with websites that don't like my old browser. It m9ight take up a bit more space on my desk (there's precious little of that available what with a small tablet, a scanner and a phone all vying for space).

Then I may be able to sort out the most recent issue I have with the Ancestry and Find My Past websites. Suddenly a new name has appeared which is claiming to be my 2x great grandmother. It's a name I didn't even know existed and seems to indicate that my 2x great grandfather was a bit of a philanderer, having a child with another woman, apparently living in the same house as his wife in between the births of 2 of his other children. Both seem to ha ve been married to him. Something is wrong there somewhere. But is it me? Have I been following the wrong line back into the 16th century. Luckily, it doesn't affect the one going back to the 10th century - longest line that I have found - that would be very frustrating

Went for a DAT scan at Whitehaven medical physics yesterday. Had to be motionless for 25min it all worked out OK.
Derek
Glad it worked out OK but 25 minutes! I had trouble managing about 10 minutes when I had an MRI scan. Does OK mean they found no indications of Parkinsons, or don't you have the result yet?
