What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good Afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen.

Blood sugars this morning were 5.6 or 5.5 I can’t remember

Here at Tilehurst Towers we are looking after our granddaughter for a few hours and already I have received telling off’s for saying things that makes the granddaughter giggle and laugh while Mrs J fumes and tells me off, which makes the granddaughter giggle and laugh even more without Mrs J noticing.
Blessed are the grandchildren.

Now it’s time to go.

Stay safe and only eat flatulent causing french onion soup in controlled environments.

Too hot yesterday. I slept all day...
Was awake all night...

Nighttime wildlife videos.
This is from a few weeks ago.
In actuality no wild beastie, nor cats, came to visit last night.
Too hot I assume...
A Fox A Badger & A Cat
23secs

Creative...studying some bushes and trees...
On paper using thin Japanese calligraphy pen...
In Snapseed for copyright and name and date.

Too hot again. Temperature in my shaded garden is already 23C and rising slowly ...(App says 19C. App promises me 24 C tomorrow so goodness knows what that will be...)

Already too dry for my eyes, despite eye drops, water misters, moisture retaining goggles etc.

I'll be going to sleep again...

Have your best day...

Thank you for sharing the creative - an excellent cover for the Scottish play: a blasted heath from central casting. Hug for being uncomfortable now we, the masses (in general), almost have the weather for which we have been baying. Until we have too much and the downside/headwinds of that become apparent. Isn't that exactly what the zeitgeist is revealing? The will of the people (as explained to them by some mendacious snake oil salesperson) is a very strange way to run a whelk stall but better than most others. Personally, it is about 7 or 8 degrees below my sweet spot at 22C here. I hope you can find some shade and take this on board. Personally, I'd avoid a beach/the seaside like the plague. I'm more a lounger by the pool, attendant setting up the parasol, poolside service, bar one can swim to and quaff a cool drink standing at the bar knee deep in the pool - sign here with room number please,- kinda guy but each to their own. Private bay and room with air con overlooking the Med is my type of seaside. British seaside is just not giving any longer for me.

A remarkable 5.7 this morning.
Been cleaning the bathroom out this morning and cleaning ready for tomorrow and the long awaited shower insertion. Will the saga continue? Why do we clean before the workmen make a mess?
The clouds are rolling back, the sun has its hat on!
And another three tory scandals.
And the slugs have reacted again, aaaaaggggghhhh!
gotta go.
best wishes

I made this video about a year ago from the wildlife trail camera @Lamont D
This is only one little blighter...
A week ago when torrential rains there were 20 of these blighters racing from under the swing to the garden, and when they'd had their bellies filled by the end of the night, before daylight, they waddled back to their hiding places at the back of the swing...
By the way, they are a creature of habit, time and the route they take...I find them fascinating creatures, until one sneaks into my bedroom at night and I get out of my bed in bare feet....

Thanks Derek but this isn't brave in my opinion. The big picture, in my eyes, is to stay as functional as possible to help JKP, our children, grandchildren and other causes I value deeply for as long as possible. One means of doing that is to make myself as comfortable as possible, heal this nonsense asasp, and get back to treating the real problem. That is the earthly issue but is very much what” lead us not into temptation” means imho. That line is intensely practical not "other worldly." The real “big picture” is retaining my faith and praying for the Holy Spirit to guide me to that place/time when it is revealed just what life was always meant to be because, wonderful as so much of my life has been, I/we have only ever seen darkly as if through a mirror.1 Corithians 13:12 .You and a few others here also believe this. For non believers, I'm not trying to prozelytise or convert, I'm laying out what animates me. Low carb/keto was and remains only ever part of that big picture - a tool to use/club in the bag. That is the only way I can tolerate and intellectually justify the, to me in many ways absurd, lifestyle. Rationally, the pursuit of wellnesss is not an end in itself it is ultimately futile. Life only ends one way. Peace be with you Derek.
I can only stand back and admire your observations about your life.
Your faith is insurmountable.

I can never understand that being a heathen.
Every thing I've done is to the betterment of mine and my family's lives.
And after one step forward, there is always the knock that takes you back.
Something always crops up!

I would really like to think, when I go where I go, I could meet the bar steward who served me up, the awful bits of my life and why it feels like it is a big joke sometimes.
What sort of diety, allows the suffering of what man does to man?

Other than my endo, keto has given me an extension to my years here.
I know for a fact that I wouldn't be if I hadn't got that referral and also the advice to log into this site.
And give me some of the knowledge I needed to understand what was happening.
And do something about it.

I wish I could do the same for Mrs L.

#7 & #8 where also having a giggle at my expense in the sunshine on the footie pitches.
So beautiful this afternoon. And the grandkids aren't bad as well!

Opposite our hotel in Skala, we had a cove with a pebbly/ sandy beach. The water was so blue and clear, We were snorkelling and watching the sea life around the shallows. And having a picnic and a quiet time in the shade. Even in the afternoon, you could be warm not hot, and enjoy the scenery.
There was quite a few around the area, as well as the main tourist beach, which had all the sun beds and sunshades.
Or the two pools in the hotel!

I am worried Lamont it's feared I have some cognitive impairment. So I am hoping it doesn't get any worse. A year ago I was fine.

Hi mate,
it is worrisome how quickly this sort of thing happens. I remember Mrs L, being herself, only a couple of years ago.
If it is diagnosed, there is plenty of things that can help and slow the deterioration.
And there are things you can do yourself such as being here with us, helping us poor heathens with our issues.
Playing puzzle games, crosswords or even doing some manual stuff, like I do with my garden, bloody slugs!
I know myself, that my own memory needs a jog, and sometimes, I just can't remember some details. Then ten minutes later, it will come to me.
Get the help you need, it is there!
I hope you do.

Do look after yourself, mate.
All my best wishes Derek.

what a wonderful supportive friend you are. I'd ask you to question if you really are a Heathen and ponder the words of Alfred Lord Tennyson (yes, all 3 of them) attached. I suspect that many like you will be pleasantly surprised to find themselves at the great wedding feast in the kingdom and many like me may be looking in jealously. You and many here seem to be the living, breathing sermon on the mount. They just overthink it. Don't mistake Christianity with "the church" or churchiosity (I made a new word, I know religiosity is a word ) and pearl clutchers. Clue, Jesus defo wasn't one of those

I have faith.
I don't know what to add.
I am aware of what a church can do, in the name of Christianity. Mostly for the benefit of those of that church.
I have been told that my soul (what ever that is) is very much decent and honourable.
I have much respect for everyone and I'm a person who believes in the rights of Inclusivity and diversity.
I have never bought into the Jesus story, even tho I love celebrating Christmas!
There are many others that deserve a similar accolade.....
I'm too humble to agree with your perceptions of me. I'm just a normal hard working bloke, trying his best to manoeuvre the life given me. I've seen too much to be religious.
Too much heartache and pain, the horrors of war and the effects of what the conflicts had done to those who went through it.
My father fought in Burma. He had horrific nightmares about what happened to him. The cruelty of it.
His influence on my perception of the world view is deep.
Having gone through the severe anxiety and covid, and what my kids and family witnessed on the front line.
I just can't imagine why a deity would not prevent the suffering.

You yourself, are a decent bloke, you have to be. Even if you are godfearing. Ha!
Someone on here told me. No names, no snitching!
There is good in most of us. Most display their kindness and generosity.
We have to learn together to build the human story.
It's easy to destroy. It's harder to construct a decent society
We have a friendship on here despite our diversity, despite the different flags we are under, despite the geography, despite our age range and of course our health issues.
We as a group care.
Instead of corporate and political uncaring of our neighbours

I wish you well my friend and enjoy the summer while we have it.
And I really hope the wedding feast is keto.
Just can't be too careful!
Mind you, on second thoughts, I would be.......
A chip doorstep please, with tomato sauce!

It is 25degrees in my garden at half time. (8.45pm)

just watered my plants and I'm quite happy with it all.
And more important so is Mrs L.
don't think she noticed what the slugs have done.

gonna have an early night, get my beauty sleep, up early to get things sorted before workmen/women arrive.
have your fingers crossed you lot.

have a lovely evening.

I read it all and loved it, life is good!

Good morning everyone on another bright and beautiful day. 6.1 this a.m. - I suspect the heat of the day. My ankles swell when the temperature is not to this bodies liking. Increase water intake, magnesium, elevate legs (how does one walk?) - hey ho! National cycling championships yesterday so rolling road closures. Got home between laps and then wandered into town to do some clapping and cheering. Art bit, continuing the theme. Hope your day is a good one. Best make some koffy.

6.2 this morning. The walk around Sheringham Park yesterday was wonderful. We went deep into the woodland and the sunlight through the trees was magical. It was the perfect place to walk on a hot day.

Our table in the courtyard cafe was in the shade and it was lovely to relax there after quite a strenuous hilly walk.

Nighttime Wildlife videos

Badger & Cat at opposite ends of the swing at the same time.
Cat Midnight is NOT getting off the swing because the
badger is on it. The badger was on the swing for 2 full two minute clips. Then Midnight goes to sniff the badger's scent....

There are two regular adult male badgers that visit. One is Kissy Kissy who I later renamed Pa Badger who is still unable to jump on the swing (he can climb but not jump). The other large male badger, is this one, who can jump on the swing with a ballerina's ease.

There are also some younger male badgers who have jumped on the swing.

But none yet, have had the audacity to jump on the swing while Midnight was still on!

And Midnight had no intention of moving!!!

Creative...my new series of trees and bushes drawn on paper with Black Japanese calligraphy pen. Put in Snapseed for copyright, name & date.

Far too hot already...I cannot function in this hot weather...
Never again will I buy a bungalow where my bedroom is directly under the attic space. My bedroom was 24C yesterday. Last night I had 4 fans going, two small personal fans (one for me and one for Midnight who is sleeping in the armchair), and also a large humidifier which takes ice cubes, and two personal misters (one for Midnight and one for myself). The temperature in my bedroom with these kind of outside hot temperatures we are getting at the moment can rise to over 30C and stay there for a week even when temperatures reduce. All of these devices will run off electricity or in the event of a power cut, will run off battery packs, or larger power packs I have. I have a good supply of extra fully charged power packs for all my devices.

And this is the first time I have ever had a cat, Midnight in this case, stay in the bungalow during a heat wave, They all usually go to the undergrowth and lie there panting.

Ginger cat Merlin in the kitchen also has his own personal mister. There are currently 6 fans going in the kitchen, one on either side of the fridge and 2 freezers, otherwise they overheat in this hot weather, and one humidifier. The temperature in the kitchen was 40C yesterday. This is normal in hot weather.

Have your best day...
