What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good morning everyone on a rainy start the what looks to be a rain filled day here in the dark and dangerous north. 5.8 this a.m. and birthday wishes to Mrs @Lamont D. Farmers Market today - get the sourdough to cut and freeze. Veterans Breakfast Club and then the end of year spectacular at The Girl In The Bubble’s dance class. She finished pre-school yesterday and will spend next week in Reception Class - she is very excited about the whole thing. Was I ever excited about school? The dinners were very good. Not so much now as they are now merely ‘lunch’. Art bit - blooming ‘eck, a tree! Hope your day is a good one - we shall enjoy the rain on our faces. But first, some koffy.

I started with the extra olive oil to help with inflammation and gut health but am really pleased that it has lowered my blood sugars during the day and has also kick started my weight loss. Those 3lbs were stubbornly refusing to move prior to the extra olive oil.

I had no idea that we had this miracle cure in our kitchen cupboards all along.

We only use extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil and butter for cooking as I agree the other oils are not good for us.

I am glad that I checked this post prior to posting it as predictive text inserted but health instead of gut health
Olive oil. I drizzle it onto salads and into soups. Should we take a spoonful before bed @Krystyna23040 ?

Sounds like a great day in prospect irrespective of the weather. Thanks for sharing the art. Good fences make good neighbours art. England score a try on halftime - the day is looking up here.

Thank you all
Much appreciated all the good lucks before & the positive post op replies..

FBG a remarkable 6.1 this very morn, so well happy with that.

Eye,..patch off yesterday, eye drops a faff.

How does one drop ones own eye, when you can't see the drop or drop area ....mmhh

Cue cheek, forehead, etc, all taking a collateral damage bashing ...ho hum

Lauren dragooned into being the drop maestro (despite her squeamishness at the sight below ....eye, not me, I might add, but some would disagree)

Drops, dropped

Eye not so bloodshot as I expected.

For anyone planning to have the op,
So far it has gone well.

A hit of something on table, then "can you just breathe in he.....zzzzzz"

Then, woken by nurse for a cup of Rosey .

A little pain on waking, and since but nothing a paracetamol can't ease.

Vision just before first drops
All blurry.

Vision day after op.
Blurry 90‰
Far edges of peripheral vision seems to be clearing.

Currently vision is comparable to looking through a fishbowl.

I can see the water swilling about and some light coming through, just can't make out what anything is, just lighter & darker shades, at moment .

But very early days, and FBG has me a little upbeat after making my way to & from work yesterday.

Felt a little sorry for myself.

Needed crutch, too much walking operation day .

And bad hand gets achey holding crutch.

Add in blindsided by one or two more able getting on & off the trains, but some sharpened elbows on return journey made life a tad easier.

(And yes, I've had many saying take the sickie, but after a 15 month sickie, I wanted to just move on )

So yeah, got home feeling a little beat up, if honest.

But a new day, some slight improvement in eye, & the unexpected FBG, the confident prediction is today WILL be a better day.

And after checking my post, I've got a little more bounce in my step, just from having written it.
So another thank you to you all for the opportunity to do so ..

Onwards & upwards
To infinity ......& beyond

Onwards and Upwards indeed - and all sounding positive. I do the drops thing - takes some getting used to and I do it standing in front of a mirror - no idea why as it’s of little use - shiny comfort blanket; head back and hold your eye open top and bottom with fingers and thumb before watching the dropper coming down - bombs away! OR - have Lauren do it, but do man up old fruit!

I missed the post regarding your procedure but I hope you get a substantial improvement.

No harm @lindisfel.
I miss loads on here

But I do know we all have our own crosses to bear.

Hope all is a well as can be for you & Marjorie.

Diminishing sight, grey blurry area in centre, wavy lines everywhere else, was my issue.
(I suspect it's crash related, but consensus seems to be it's a coincidence, could happen at anytime..mmhh)

Some layer, delaminating at back of the eye, solution apparently was to pop a hole in eye, keyhole surgery to scrape said layer away from its location at back of the eye.

A few weeks to see if it's doing ok, then upwards to a year for fully recover.

Thank you for the good wishes.

Indeed, that was the plan.

But unable to see dropper or even the drops, it was more like a precision pigeon on crack, than I'd hoped for ..

'Man up' left to one side

Lauren stepped up.
Gawd bless er....xxx

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen. Life here in Tilehurst Towers is continuing at pace, as is Mrs J’s recovery. Earlier this morning after plinky plonky practice I started to prepare the vegetables ready for dinner tonight only to be told that things were not right with what I was doing, at length and at an extremely loud volume. Yep Mrs J is well on the road to recovery.

Blood sugars this morning were 8.1 . I know why and if I were say why I would have to terminate your existence. Official secrets act, well mine any way.

Hopefully attached are the final picture of that child’s outside play sink that I have trying to finish for many months. The parents of the children it was made for have collected it and I hope it is being put to good use. I made it using reclaimed items and did not charge. I make children’s and other items only for people I want to.

Stay safe all, stay out of Mrs J’s way as I am.IMG_0243.jpegIMG_0246.jpeg

What wonderful gifts - yours to make it and then to give it for free. Good man. Only issues now are to work on your veg prep skills and maybe get a new mug :D As for Mrs A J - I vote we start a free Mrs A J campaign :playful:

Years of practice... @dunelm

I have to lie down. I have several lots of eyedrops, quite a few times a day. I hold the dropper bottle, but I have several types of dropper bottles...little finger on the bump in the middle of my nose (this guides the bottle to the right place without poking me in the eye...then squeeze....hopefully one drop, but it is usually two drops....
