What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Thank you all for the kind words of encouragement.

Hospital visit over.

Seen pretty rapidly.
(Waiting room packed with others mumbling about wait times, so maybe I was lucky ?)

Any way, eye drops in
Then a couple of Eye exams & scans
Then Eye Doctor checked as well.

Seems healing going well.

Back in 8 weeks for next check up

6 months to one year until healing ends and full progress known .

Very, very happy with visit today.....
That sounds fantastic @jjraak

BG is going crazy today. Started reasonably (6.3) and rose, as it often does, to 8.1 but then (after I took my normal basal insulin) it dropped like a stone. I was in the shower when the Libre started creating because BG was 3.5 and, by the time I got out of the shower it was 2.5 and I was in a full blown hypo. Been struggling to keep it up ever since. Cancelled my appointment to get my legs bandaged because I thought I'd better not go out because it has been teetering on the edge of a hypo for the last 3 hours.

Add to that, both the Libre and my Accuchek meter are both playing silly games. Libre refusing to give a reading a couple of times and Accuchek giving me 6.6 when I was in a hypo. Just a moment ago the Libre warned me that my BG was over 8. I'll be keeping an eye on it today.

I was wondering if I had made a mistake and taken either a double dose of the basal insulin or a higher dose than I should have but I have no memory of taking it twice and the level in the pen looks about right for one correct dose having been taken.

Lots of carbs so far today to try to rein it in
Shame about missing leg day. Will there be another chance before next scheduled appointment? I hope the bg settles for you. I'm sure you know that Libre misbehaves for some time after a shower and if Accuchek was also reading high that is odd/confirmation something is amiss. I have no idea what a hypo is like but from what I read hugs are in order. Take care today, well every day but you know what I mean.

Right, this internet has stolen my time this morning.
Skype.
I need that, for captions on calls, videos, and stuff.
Spam.
Message after message after message, like incoming bullets of spam.
I turn on Do Not Disturb, but it bypasses that.
I turn on No notifications, but it bypasses that.
I turn on No notifications in both Skype and iPad, it bypasses that.
Is this anything to do with CrowdStrike?
I complain to Skype.
I cannot block, their block function doesn't work.
I send a separate report in each time the block function doesn't work. Of course they don't care.
I go through every setting on Skype, disable them all.
I have wasted over an hour,
have wasted over an hour in settings on Skype. These scam messages were coming in all morning.
I did a few other things....

I was ready to delete Skype, but that would have been a faff installing it each time I needed to use it.

Finally I signed out.
I sent messages to people I Skype explaining. Want to contact me, then WhatsApp me, and I will sign in....

This new video soft ware was no better this morning. That wasted my time also. It wouldn't save the video. I tried again and again (other people in reviews were having same problems)...I tried a new software - currently that works, and so I have finally managed to upload my video.

Nighttime Wildlife video
The new black stray Cat gets on swing - sleeps on mohair blanket - discovers he is on badger watch - Midnight watches him for the next hour or so - then just before dawn Black Cat leaves
35 secs

Creative...you think there is going to be a creative after all this internet messing with my time and stealing it?
You are quite right there...
However, these are the new Japanese pens I treated myself to.
I do like them apart from the last one which is a strange sparkling silver. What on earth would I use that for?
The first is double ended, and the thick end is a soft felt end.
The second is a brush with bristles.
The third is a hard tip.
The fourth is a light grey bristle grey pen.
The last is also a bristle but it is silver - useless for me.

Now, I am going to try and salvage the rest of today.
The Internet, that is the Skype bit, and the video software refusing to save, has wrecked my morning....

Have your best day...

I don't have a libre so don't know how it works, but it looks like both devices are playing up...
Hugs @Annb

Hug for the tech related issues spoiling your plans but

original quote not by John Lennon but in a 1957 issue of Reader's Digest by a man named Allen Saunders. Of course there was going to be a creative - thank you. Enjoy the wildlife in Gennworld and chill out - yeah, right. As you were.

Thank you very much @ianpspurs

I did tell myself a moment ago I was going out for lunch, but then I stopped and thought...less hassle at home...no driving...sit on the swing...and the foods are a lot nicer here, and freshly prepared and cooked. AND I have a delicious pudding planned (my secret) which doesn't put up my blood glucose...

My lunch smells delicious....

Have a good afternoon....

A bit more progress. Received a letter from Monzo Bank. The person has opened an account with them at our address. Emailed Monzo who emailed me back straight away. They are now on his case. Am impressed with Monzo.

Rang FCA because still no contact from Resulut. They gave me the email address of Resolut's legal department and within half an hour got a reply that they will look into this.

Excellent news all round although it would obviously have been better had it never happened BUT they picked the wrong target in you and hopefully in so doing ended their fraud wave.

Indeed , a stroke of good fortune about that part, at least @Krystyna23040
Yes, definitely a stroke of good fortune as it would have been awful if he had been able to carry on with whatever fraud he was going to commit. Have found out he is only 18 years old. I wonder if money laundering is what he is doing.

Morning all from a Whitney Huston start here in L.A. @Krystyna23040 good news on the way you handled that incident. It seems as though your classes were highly beneficial. @jjraak it sounds as though the eye is healing well and another adventure is on the cards. Excellent news in both cases. @dunelm if today is a travelling day best wishes for the journey. @JohnEGreen thoughts and prayers with you and your family. Something to hold onto:(although Nixon followed LBJ :arghh:
It was a definitive rebuke of Trump, a man who has slapped his name on countless buildings and for whom the title is everything. Backed by the conservative Heritage Foundation thinktank, the Republican nominee is intent on an expansion of presidential power. But by giving power away – in what Hillary Clinton described “as pure an act of patriotism as I have seen in my lifetime” – Biden demonstrated he will always be the bigger man. Taken from this.
Not sure y'all can read this but it is a good account of what KH is up against
Interesting article. Really sad to read it.

Another busy morning, 6.7.
Painting cos Mrs L has a late night, and having a lie in.
Also been on a tip run, with DiL, got rid of some junk. P!entry more of course.
I'm nearly done now, so I hope to get some garden time.

I will return later while I hide the paint smudges.

Best wishes to you all.

I check with those sites too @Krystyna23040
In the 1990's when my kids left home, I got an unexpected letter saying money was owed and the bailiffs were coming in. I owed nothing (apart from my mortgage and that was up to date). Then I found it was one of my kids. They had discovered they couldn't borrow money for a purchase or two or more, because they hadn't lived long enough in one place, and had given my address without asking me.
Well, that was me ballistic.
I gave them all a rollicking.
They had all been doing it.
And I informed on them.
But we can't afford to pay it etc, bail us out...
Like heck did I do that.
You're on your own, I said, You never even asked me permission.
Oh, they hated me, other mums bail our friends out they said.
This mum doesn't because she doesn't have the money I said, (I was a single mum, and their errant father did s*d all, never even paid maintenance).

Son, has never borrowed money again in his life. He is nearly 50. He doesn't even have a credit card.
The two girls never borrowed again.

Since then I have checked with several of these places.
It has never happened again from the kids...
You did the right thing @gennepher.
When my children were small I discovered that one of my children had shoplifted some sweets from a little local shop. I marched her back there to apologise to the shopkeeper and pay for the sweets.
She never did anything like that again.
The shopkeeper was brilliant and gave her a very stern lecture.

This is a public service post for boomers 1 and 2. So, Kamala is von dutch brat is big on Tok Tic or whatevs. Helpfully some Millenials/ Gen z are able to educate us - this explains it all. Still confused .com? I can explain it for y'all but I can't understand it for ya :D OK sorry I, a boomer, acknowledged knowing this stuff and killed both Coconut and Brat summer. Just another thing we need to hang our heads in shame over.

Afternoon all
A resounding 8.0 this morning, not to worry.

Now must away, best wishes to all, it is rumoured that one day life will return the abnormal normal here in Tilehurst Towers and perhaps Pink Floyd’s pig will fly over Battersea power station again.

Hugs where required and stay safe all.

Oh and happy national bin day.

No FBG today.
Early signs of blight on a few tomato plants in the greenhouse led me to purchase the recommended Bordelaise spray, supposed to both prevent and in higher concentrations cure the blight.

Think this is a case where the cure is worse than the disease. Would you eat fruit from this plant?

Shame about the possible blight as those look like strong and fruitful plants. That mixture has been banned in the UK for almost a decade but provided it is cheap we seemingly currently sell anything food wise. What I think of (rightly or wrongly) as the JRM (for the Plebs, definitely not his own family) approach to food standards. I'm sure you don't really think we haven't been sold tomatoes/eaten them in restaurants/fast food places from plants in that or worse condition? I know you are quite savvy so I'm guessing that is a rhetorical question. I really hope the mixture works and you have the large, healthy crop you deserve.

Absolutely not, I'm afraid @SlimLizzy

I dread to think how unknowingly I ate stuff in the past which was sprayed with dubious stuff that was fully accepted and approved of in those days...

Hugs for you. All that work you do, only to end with a blighted crop.

@Lamont D not long ago you wrote that UK politics was boring now the grown ups were in charge. Here's a snippet on what could be months - until November - of fun:
It is the Tory party membership who have the final say and they – there is no easy way of sugaring this – are all completely mad. Only interested in electing someone who is as crazy as they are. Someone the country would never consider putting in government. It’s win-win for the neutral.
Full piece here. Is this mocking the afflicted?
