What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

BG at 02.20 was 8.2.

Despite being tired, I couldn't sleep and got up at 02.20 and came to sit in my chair in the kitchen. Sat until 05.20, watching News on TV and then "Salvage Hunters". Then the power went off. Pitch dark, but at least I hadn't put up the leg rest on the chair, or I'd have been trapped. Made my way to the sideboard, where I keep a torch, but just as I got there, Neil came through with his big torch and got the lantern down for me (on a hook on the ceiling, where I can't reach). It's not a big light, but it is something at least. I did doze off around 06.00 but woke again when the power came back on at 07.30 - TV blaring suddenly and the strip light lighting up the whole room, even though it is really just meant to backlight some glassware on top of the dresser. Well, I needed a drink to clear my throat anyway.

I've been trying, without success, to get an appointment to see a GP for the last month. On the Health Centre website it says that advance appointments can be made but when I try to make one, I'm always told that it can't be done. I decided to try again and this time got a receptionist I know well. Lovely lady; from Thailand and married to an Island husband. Unfortunately, despite having lived here for more than 30 years, her English, sometimes, is not easily understood. Uses the language differently and has a very sing-song voice. However, I did manage to get from her that the advanced booking service only works on certain days. This week there will be appointments available from Monday, but they will have to be booked on Sunday. I couldn't figure out if the appointments are only on Monday, or if they can be booked on Sunday for any day from Monday. I never thought their phone line would work on a Sunday - it is usually switched off. I'll try though on Sunday - early. Yupin says the line is open from 07.30 - we shall see.
Interesting system for advanced appointments @Annb. From reading posts here regarding booking appointments with GPs, having no GP, access to medical records and much more it does seem that there is no such thing as a "national" health service. There are literally hundreds of "entrepreneurial" (as in we'll do things our own way just to survive) enterprises operating under the NHS banner. I'm guessing that like many organisations which have been badly led, poorly resourced and with a thoroughly demoralised workforce - many of whom should never have been anywhere near their jobs but posts must be filled - that is the only way to cope. I've certainly worked in a school like that and it was chaos for the students.

6.1 and two reasons for this could be, the amount of headless chicken activity I have done since daybreak.
Running (walking) around doing stuff until about twenty minutes ago.
Or.
I have now fasted for 27 hours, for the reasons I can't get below 7(ish) for a few weeks now.
I tested it three times. And the different readings were both 6.1 & 6.0.

The garden has had a good seeing to, grass has had a haircut, weeding, deadheading and clipping.
The only problem was there was a hole in the corner of the lawn by the bush, maybe a cat but similar to a fox digging, so at this time of year a repair and or reseeding, is likely not to work., Filled it in with good top soil and hope it grows back.

Mrs L as usual being her defiant independent self, told me that a shower was necessary this a.m.. So, after doing the usual pre shower, I was told, no shampoo......
So being the shopper, went to the local store, and it took me less than five minutes (ish) there and back, I asked her very politely to wait for me to get back before showering........
Mrs L didn't of course. But no harm no foul.
I, of course asked the question why?
Why not? Mrs L replied.
Hmmmmmm.

Dry but cold, wind picking up, cloudy. Bit of a frost (ish) overnight.
My right hand was painful cos of the arthritis, I warmed it up and now easing, but still a bit of a kerfuffle.
Typing with one finger on my pad. Which isn't easy, using the spellchecker thingy to go quickly.
Curry night is a Friday staple, well used to be.

Watching Ludwig, seems ok.
I like doing puzzles (especially jiggies) and word things, etc.
But I just cannot make head nor tail, what he did on that board.

May you have a wonderful weekend.
Best wishes

Just realised that I didn't press the post reply button.
This was my post this morning.
5.5 this morning.
Lovely walk in the park in the sunshine.
Will take my second cup of coffee with me up to the office. Not too many emails to answer today but quite a busy day ahead. Very lucky that there isn't much admin to do.

Been out to merry England (Birkenhead) to meet my friend...where there was a heatwave 22C for half an hour.
Then as I returned to gloomy Wales, the temperature dropped to 12C....

After I unpacked the perishables I went to bed where I fell in a deep sleep...just woke up at quarter to 9 pm...

My friend is getting very very forgetful. And even when I say oh you threw that away 20 years ago, or you did such and such with that item when you moved to your current place, and so on...

'I don't remember', my friend says. Yet, I can remember her telling me all these things, and she used to say oh yeah I can vaguely remember, but now she cannot remember at all when I remind her what she did with the items. She was also forgetting some of the route to where we met. And she had to drive around a bit when she forgot her way.

She's spending all her time 24/7 looking after her cantankerous disabled husband who cannot walk and she has to do literally everything for him. And he is not one bit grateful for what she does for him but constantly puts her down.

I told her she was going downhill because of everything that she was doing for him. When I gave her my views on the matter, it turns out her other friends, neighbours, and daughter have exactly the same solution as I had for her. It's no good driving yourself into the ground, taking care of an ungrateful cantankerous, old, vicious with his lashing tongue invalid, that you become no use even to yourself.

You can guess that I suggested she put him in a home... I also get that the man is scared of his future, but he has got worse and worse over the last ten years...

But my friend is also scared of change, and I explain there is never a right time to do any drastic course of action, except right now...

I need to go and tidy up the kitchen. I still haven't finished filling up my wheelie or the recycle... I shall have to get up early in the morning and finish that...

Night night, sleep tight....
It appears I went to sleep reading the posts @gennepher

No FBG to declare .

Back off holiday, already feeling like a distant time ago

Back to have a deep dive in to murky waters yesterday, with specialists.

Nearly 5 hours of testing.
Little of it making any sense.

Patterns , numbers, puzzles ,
Puzzles , patterns & numbers
Patterns, numbers, puzzles,
Munbers, spayterns, pizzles,
Punmterns, natterns .panmbers.......STOP !!!

Pass or failed...who knows .

Can't really share elsewhere ...so here is all got left ..

(A hushed.......aagghhhh. )

There's, feel better already.

One more go at trying to switch Mr brain off & try to get some sleep.

Tomorrow is another day & sure to be some joy in it.

Enjoy the coming day, y'all.

Excursion to tha doctors yesterday was ok sunny and reasonably warm it was to have the dressing changed on my back according to the nurse the wound is no better but no worse have been going twice weekly now since June must admit getting a little hatched off with it.
Must be very wearing @JohnEGreen after all that and to see little or no improvement.

I do hope they formulate a cunning plan to move progress forward for you .

I do that from time to time @Krystyna23040
I shut my eyes just for a second, and they decide to have a nap, and I then forget to press the post button even when I wake up because the iPad has shut down for its nap as well...

Yup, enjoy today @jjraak
Poor brain...it and you would like to know the purpose of the testing, but then that would spoil the specialists fun...
Some special hugs for you from the everlasting bottomless basket of hugs....pick one when you need one.
Who said life had to make any sense...

Perhaps they are trialling an idea for a game show?

I think 'survivor' would be a good name for it ....mmhh

@ianpspurs is right.

Each practice is a business, each using its own formatted concoction of what "works" sadly .

Hope you get resolution AND that much needed appointment.

As for cold, who knows.
But flight back many coughing & chatting about a COVID wave hitting so many .

Seems from twitter the first winter wave is incoming .

My Lauren felt pretty rough last few days, I was luckier had one day slightly off colour.

Cold, sunstroke, COVID...who knows anymore .

But better not to spread it
So masked up on way home.
And into appointment at GP & yesterday's deep dive .

And yes, many rolled eyes at 'why, it doesn't exist, dummy'

Which isn't the reason,.
Did we learn nothing from that time, I felt like shouting .

Being healthy is GOOD

If we're not healthy and can NOT avoid going out, can't we at least limit the harm we MIGHT do to those who just might be a little more vulnerable ....?

NO....seems the prevailing response, sadly .

So they do them
I do me .

Hugs for the cold
Prayers for the appointment.

Well this site makes no sense...I scroll down to the bottom of this current page, and all the posts are in Chinese (I assume)...here is a screenshot...

This is what happens when you find your copy of the Mustard Seed Garden ;) - I got exactly the same this morning when I scrolled down to look at ‘latest posts’.

Good morning everyone on what looks likely to be another bright summers day but without the heat here in the dark and dangerous north. 5.4 this a.m. I have been given the gift of laundry functionary it seems. One load of laundry in the machine ready for hanging out and another basket full eagerly awaiting their turn like a shuffling queue of punters spending far too much of their life waiting to get a 30 second ride at Alton Towers or some other modern version of a Roman arena. Art bit - I had no idea where this was going but perhaps the chimp inside my head took charge while I was distracted - anyhow, there it is. Hope your day is a kind one. Best make some koffy and then get on with laundry duties.
