What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Thank you @gennepher. I do hope that Poppy has the same outcome as Meg as we would love to have her with us for another year.

You did the right thing taking Meg home. We feel the same about Poppy. Because of her age, and because she isn't in pain, we don't want invasive treatment for her.
And as a bonus, Popeye my cat, who had been Meg's arch enemy, now dropped the games he had been playing to get Meg into trouble and started looking after her. He understood @Krystyna23040

This will be my final YouTube video for the moment, maybe forever. YouTube messed me about again last night. It is downloading the video promptly, but it is missing out all the titles, descriptions, hashtags etc that I put in the draft when this is posted. And it is the time redoing it and redoing it, took me over an hour last night before I could get some of the title etc working. It is definitely throttling (is there a better word?) my views. This is a time waster and a great frustration to me. I might try again one day but that will be a long way off as I have enough other things to do at the moment. And so my next video post will just be on Instagram. I'm sorry if some of you cannot get on Instagram but that's just the way it is at the moment.

Creative...another castle in my garden. Dare you enter here ...

I went out this morning as a treat for finishing the court jury summons letter and posting it. Unfortunately my favourite cafe had changed hands, the food was awful, not the best quality, it gave me heartburn, the staff were just young girls, almost just out of school, instead of the older friendlier staff they had before, I could go on. The place with nearly empty which tells a story.

So I did not enjoy my treat and it cost me and in money.

I have been asleep since I got back, I'm still not fully well from last week but my covid tests still say negative. I feel perfectly fine untill I'm doing something...

Anyway. Have your best kind of day, one that only you can have.

Oh in a fit of madness last night I decided it was a good idea to cut my hair, about 12 inches off and it is still down to my shoulders. I devised my own technique of doing this while I am in the shower. I would advise that is not a good idea.

I have been supporting the severe tied up into a bun, grandma look for some years now...
I looked in the mirror and there is this mass of curls (spell check says cows) all over my head.
I cannot tie it up because it is too short on the top now, and in a curly mass...
Is actually looks okay but I have not worn my hair down for a long time now.

Thank you for sharing the Castle Perilous. Good news on the letter but shame about the meal and Youtube. The new hairstyle sounds interesting, like a Bob Mortimer tale. Was any Fuji Seven used ? (captions work on mine)

I am pleased to hear that you have a mass of curls (not cows) on your head @gennepher

Possibly TMI but God bless Poppy who will surely look at you entirely differently after that procedure. There's the old joke about the vet who said put these in the back passage. Two weeks later there was no change and the owner said I put them in the back passage every day. I might just as well have shoved them up her **se. (I'm available for Weddings and Bar Mitzvah's.)
That is so funny @ianpspurs

That is wonderful that Popeye did that @gennepher. They do understand so much.

When we first adopted Archie he was totally mad but would very gently play tug with our elderly Labrador Saffy. It was lovely to see his gentleness - but if he played tug with us he would almost pull our arms out of their sockets.

Sorry state of affairs with what is happening with YouTube so enjoy the rest from it. Such a shame when a favoured eatery changes hands and doesn’t now work. Hair cutting in the shower - well that’s an experience so enjoy your new look.

Thank you very much @dunelm
I shall find some other options..
It is a different look !!!!

Thank you Ian .
Yes captions worked.
Seen that a few times now!!!
No Fuji 7 was harmed in the haircutting nor styling (it styled itself ...)

Badgers & Cats

YouTube has been playing me up again and wasted a couple of hours of my time last night because it would not put in the title and it insisted my hashtags were duplicated when they patently were not.

I will just be posting on Instagram if this continues

Creative... Some fungi from my garden

Have your best day

A nice video @gennepher showing how unconcerned your badgers and a cat seem about each other's presence in your garden. Thank you for sharing a photo of your fairy ring mushrooms as well.

Wednesday's FBG 4.7 mmol/l on waking at 6.00 am.

taken. @alf_Josiah hugs for the clash between radiotherapy and other meds and thanks for your - backhanded? - compliment. @jjraak I think you also may have meant your reply to AJ positively
Very much so.

I took it, if you like, in the fashion of a dedicated fan of a football team or maybe a cricket team.

In the manner that one chap quipping to another one that one of their friends at the bar with them, is a real stat fiend, knowing so much and being able to recall previous seasons stats aka assists or run rates at will into a conversation

That, for want of a better word, is 'boyish banter'.(.I'm sure we've all heard at times.)

Yet both acknowledging & respecting the fans knowledge far outweighs their own by a magnitude of 1000’s .

Alfs was a tongue in cheek compliment, which I took as such.

And my response I felt acknowledged your depth in such matters.

Could I recall such data...no.

So, respect was the intention, no matter how badly worded.

Have a good day, my friend.

Anytime I've seen that in a movie, it's because someone's forced to go on the run ...mmhh.

And of course Stallone done similar in Rambo ...mmmhh

Can't figure out which one is your reason....yet

So Thelma & Louise.
OR
Rambo.....mmhh

I do hope it's not the 2nd one and you're heading off to the Courts jury duty clerks offices anytime soon ..eek

;) :hilarious:

4.8 this morning. Was really pleased with this reading. I thought - what a good start to the day.

Then fed Poppy. Half way through her breakfast she had an epileptic seizure. It was really scary. Never has had one before. When she recovered She finished her breakfast.

Vet was brilliant. Saw us as soon as the clinic opened. Has taken bloods and will ring us later with the results.
according to the vet - possible causes range from brain tumour, liver or kidney issues, inflammation or the possibility that we will never know what caused it.

We all agreed that, because she is nearly 15, we will not do anything invasive. So no point in doing an MRI.. So fingers crossed that she never has another one.

We have Diazepam to squirt up her bum if she had another episode. This should shorten any episode and calm her down. .

Vet has just rung. Blood tests exceptionally good for a dog of her age. All markers excellent. No inflammation or infection. Liver and kidneys are in tip top condition.

So now it is -:wait and see. It could be a brain tumour - or it could just be caused by old age. No-one knows.

She is happy and not in pain - so hopefully this continues.
Oh my goodness , what a terrible moment @Krystyna23040 .

Great news though on the bloods etc.

I'd say a wise choice all round just leaving it and adopting that wait & see policy.

Please god, it's just a one off or at worst very rarely & mild.

I worked with a chap who mentioned he might have a seizure (just been diagnosed I believe)

That very day he collapsed in the office

I felt so helpless doing as he asked .
Rolled him on his side and left him alone.

2/3 minutes later, he calmed
About 10 minutes later he was up and about again .

Within half an hour I wouldn't have suspected he had had a seizure at all if I hadn't seen it myself.

I hope poppy carries on living her best life .

Fbg 5.7 this morning.
When I said my bloods tests were all ok the other day there was one I hadn’t noticed and that was the C reactive protein level normal range 0.0 - 5.0 mine was actually 26 indicating inflammation of some sort.
Over the last month or so my warfarin dose had been doubled for some reason the fact that if you take twice the amount you use it up in half the time had escaped me so I ran out of them ended up in a panic trying to get some more ended up to and froing between doctors and pharmacy got it sorted in the end but must be more careful in future.

Good morning everyone from a so far dull start to bin day here in the dark and dangerous north. Daylight saving time is nearly here, the last one before the budget and the prospect of it being taxed for next year. Jabs yesterday - arms feel OK - it’s the shoulders that are a bit achy. Girl In The Bubble stayed last night - her homework was to draw a Halloween costume on the outline of an undisclosed person - on her instructions we did black and purple stripes, claws on the hands and then lots of spots to produce the Halloween monster called Mr Measles - don’t let it touch you! Wonder what her teacher will think about that - well it’s novel. Art bit - Chinese ink on wet watercolour paper. Hope that some goodness comes your way today - probably lots of it inside you but don’t forget to vogue. Koffy, best make koffy.

No sleep at all last night. No idea why. Got up at 03.00 and sat at this keyboard, just writing down musings and hoping to tire myself out sufficiently to go back to bed. Didn't work. Took some painkillers at 06.00 and hoped that might help, as it usually does. Nope! So here I am, waiting for the shower room to heat up sufficiently to use it. Now, of course, my eyes are heavy. Have ro keep going though, I have 2 appointments today - one for legs and then another with the Diabetes nurse who will want to check my HbA1c. At least, she should. It'll have gone up since last time anyway.

BG was 10.5 at 06.00.

Hug for the poor sleep @Annb.

I took suffer a tad with it, so been taking note of 'methods to drop off to ' type in my feeds etc.

Can't categorically say it works, but I seem to have some success with this one .

Select any letter & name an animal, once named the last letter begins the name of your next animal and so on.

I tried that version, but found more sense to my mind if it was strictly ABC instead.

I like it taxes me to switch off the worrying about something else, and I try to pick different animals each time.

I find I tend to free associate (?) as I pick I see an image of that animal in its native habitat, and as I begin naming them, it usually draws me into ever more detailed imagery g scenarios (which I think is what makes it work for me) & where I drift off to sleep .

No chance of a cat nap before appointments?

I try to grab one if I can, I wake very groggy at first but feel much more refreshed once fully awake .

Good luck with both.

Fingers crossed the HBA1c is better than you expect.

@Annb hug for the sleepless night.

You mentioned following a line back to the Balliols the other day coincidentally yesterday I was adding some new names in the family tree and came across Peter Scott of Scot Hall in Kent they strayed their ancestry back to the Balliol line as John Balliol he who Balliol college is named for his son was King John I of Scotland another son of his was William de Balliol le Scott he dropped the Balliol part from his name and went by just Scott he did that as Longshanks didn’t like him using the name Balliol.
