What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good morning everyone on a deficit of temperature start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. The snow from yesterday has gone but left some slip sliding away road surfaces to entertain commuters. Our pal from LA has just departed for Newcastle Airport for his journey home via a couple of days stop over in Frankfurt where they have an apartment. Later, I may venture out but am currently thinking more badger and may curl up in my sett on a bed of winceyette and strips of ancient pub flock wallpaper and pretend to be hibernating. Art bit - between a rock and a wet place. Hope you have a good day. Having it for a moment is the same as having it forever, if you want. I really do need some koffy - well not need, but want, so will.

Fbg according to Libre is 3.3 was 2.9 a couple of hours ago.
-5 degrees here Keiran is driving up to Aberdeen this morning hope he idrves carefully but worrying.
One thing about EVs iis you are able to set it to warm the car remotely but cold can affect battery charge.
Way too low John .

Sure the drive will be a careful one .

I guess you mean warming the car up before driving off ?

I try to keep up with the e-debate & can see the good & less good .

(Edit to remove auto correction.)
I do read the drop off in RANGE can be almost a quarter ?
But it's only what I've read in various websites etc .

Safe travels

Yes am having a coffee and a couple of gingernut biscuits see if that brings it up a bit.
As to the EV today is the first time driving in very cold weather so we will see how it stands up to -5 may meen charging a little more often.

I say way too low as well @JohnEGreen
I know absolutely nothing about Libre, never had one, but I would be doing a double check with your manual glucose monitor. ..

I hope Kieran finds enough charging points if he needs them. Safe journey wishes for him and the car....

It is not a venturing out day here today...

Take care ..

A great Art bit....find the red roof.... The black and white drawing is brilliant @dunelm

6.3 this morning.

Good news - a new boiler control unit will be installed tomorrow at the village hall. Class members will be really pleased.

Today will be a much more relaxing day than yesterday as I don't start classes until 6pm.

Mr K is driving me in. He will then take Poppy for a walk and then go across to the pub and relax and read in the warm with an alcohol free Guinness so he can drive me home.

DIL has just set off for a drive in her EV to the Primary School in Uig - a long and winding road - in -3 temperature. Not sure that she had a full charge in the car because it was stuck in Stornoway for a day in low temps due to a puncture. She had to wait for a mobile tyre replacement service to come and fix it. I hope the school in Uig has a charging point.

BG at 08.05 today was 8.3. No idea what it is now because I seem to have mislaid my reader. I did have it before my shower, but can't find where I put it down.

We have to go out again today for my leg rebandaging session and for a last chance at shopping before the car goes in for its MOT tomorrow. It does have a few jobs that need to be done so no idea when we'll get it back. Extra large shopping list today. I'm already pretty wobbly, due to tiredness from efforts yesterday so goodness knows what I'll be like later. Well - que sera.... An event planned for tomorrow as well - marking an anniversary for me, so I'll need to go. May spend the weekend asleep.

Thank you both for sharing your wonderful artistic skills over such a long time but shouldn't you just be duct taping fruit to something and make some serious cash? :playful:
I know I'm not much of an artist, but I just don't get the point. It is clearly a comment on modern society, but I can't see that it is art. Maybe I'm just a Philistine.

Morning all from a mid-range frosty start to Thursday in L.A. We're not going out - slight confusion over the day for my date with destiny (no, not this guy who is a top,top bloke) that's tomorrow. Fbg is a known unknown unlike y'all - @JohnEGreen hug for your low level. We are all different - I'd function perfectly well there and have no idea anything was amiss - (Dennis was a top, top batsman) @gennepher hug for the long, cold wait but thanks for the badger porn video and creative. @dunelm thank you for another splendid red roof special. I refer yourself and @gennepher to my earlier post. @Annb safe journeys to you, DIL and Alistair on his round. I hope leg day goes smoothly. @Krystyna23040 Mr K just keeps setting the bar higher, very Mondo Duplantis. For some reason best known to the nutritional data analysis on my app, liver -(that's ok) and bacon (not ok but at least not the smoked abomination) leeks not onions, lower carb, (minimal flour for dredging) is on the menu today: is it edible by humans without mashed potato?. These things are sent try us but JKP and MIL will enjoy replaying old hits. Wreath installed on our front door so folk here can play guess the nationality. Took in a parcel for a neighbour yesterday - American - wonderful first name, Erlanda, so much more exotic than Hilda. Y'all stay warm, safe and avoid slippery slopes. A Sporty Spice post today.

I saw the mouldy bread bed installation in the Tate Liverpool many years ago....Yuck . .
Think I saw something similar in (insert grocer/baker of choice) once and long before Tracey, University halls of residence had hundreds of unmade beds. Art is obviously all around us. :playful:

Yes he’s at Alnwick at the moment topping up the charge my BMW app notifies me as to where it is and when it is being charged this is the second top up on the trip so far so he’s doing ok.

Wildlife nighttime video
First snow. Cat Jade on the swing all night.
There were no badgers nor foxes this snowy night.
She does have my garage she can sleep in, or the tiered cat house for strays. She came into my garden in 2020 during Covid & Lockdowns. She does not trust humans. At the end of video she has heard me get up, my bedroom is right next to the swing. And she gets up and goes under the chair where I leave her breakfast.
The tiered cat house was made because the badgers destroyed all my on the ground stray cat houses.
It was made using a couple of plastic greenhouses. I lined each section with polystyrene and thermal insulation. It is against a wall, barricaded in with screening. And then in front of it I have large dustbins with various things that still grow in my vegetable garden... mostly herbs. And a few larger shrubs in them. In this way the cats can get in very easily, the badgers cannot get in at all. It would house quite a few cats, but how many actually sleep in there I don't know because I leave them be as most of them are not friendly to humans. But I can see at least four or five stray cats regularly going in and out of that area.

I had a new stray cat this morning.
It was too icy for me to go out. Most of my regular stray cats know the rules, they do know to wait their turn so I can feed them properly and individually.
I have forgotten how viciously hungry a stray cat could be...
I was cooking some chicken for my dinner, the stray cat was outside the kitchen door. I went out with a piece of chicken in my fingers, with the intention of giving it some cat food if it wanted more.
I nearly lost my fingers as it regarded the whole lot as food.
I didn't yell at it but moved back very quickly and it knew instantly it had done wrong. I left it a little bit more chicken and a bowl of cat food...

It is still out there, so I assume it could possibly take one of those cat pods in the tiered housing.

I have checked the trail cameras for last night, and there is only Jade on the swing again, no badgers or foxes.

I expect the woods where the foxes and badgers are, could be a bit impassable still...

I still have a chill from yesterday in my tummy and my hips from waiting in that cold breezy foyer for the diabetic appointment. And so I haven't done much today, done a bit of essential stuff, but otherwise sat in bed with electric blanket round my middle..

I can see the light is going now, so I need to feed the cats, set the trail cameras again,

Then make some fresh tea, and maybe have a spicy biscuit. Run out of ginger biccies.

Creative. Inks and spray water on a postcard.

Be safe in this icy weather.

Take care.

Hug for the tummy and hips suffering from yesterday yet still showing such concern for those stray cats. Thank you for sharing the video and creative. If I'm honest I don't "understand" it any more than the duct taped banana but I'm open to learning from others. Just not paying millions for a duct taped banana.
