What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

5.8 this morning.
On the latest wound dressing at the doctors the nurse demtermined that after the 9 months of dragging myself over to the surgery twice a week the wound is no better but no worse and took the fatalistic view that this is going to be a more or less permanent feature of my life depressing if I accept that view so have decided to take control of the situation and do things my way not sure what that way is going to be but I am not going to accept the less than positive view that the nurse has.

While you're clearly still seeking another way of treating it, I LOVE that ruthless determined attitude.

Absolutely FIVE STAR.

And what a horrible capitulation by the team treating you .

Absolute best wishes your determination finds a way to combat AND improve the issue.

More power to your elbow @JohnEGreen .

No FBG for the forseeable future unless I can find a different meter. Somewhere amongst our possessions. Unused for several years, is that likely? Would it still be operational if found? And then I would need to buy test strips for it. The outrageous cost of which caused me to abandon it in favour of the Tee2.
MrSlim continues to cough, less frequently, but still sufficient to warrant caution in social contact.
I think I am better. Well nearly anyway, although the headache persists.
Kiki is taking full advantage of the changes and now insists on her right to sleep with us. As we are reluctant to allow damage to our friends property we had to give in at the first scratching of doors.
She is still confined to indoors and not happy about that either and has not yet met our friends cat. An event we are not looking forward to, suspecting that Kiki will be aggressive towards the other cat.
If we go ahead the house purchase will be finalised on 10th feb. But I am horrified at how much the house condition has deteriorated since we last visited. MrSlim says it is superficial, but to me looks like a lot of extra work.
Keep well and warm all of you, as best as you can. Will pop in now and again and try to catch up now that things are a little less fraught.
I hope everything goes ahead as quickly as possible @SlimLizzy xx

Good morning everyone on another splendid start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. Walking into town yesterday and saw a flying saucer of a cloud - a single lenticular cloud. Neither of us could recollect having seen one before. Radiator bleeding day as well. All done and the boiler given a going over - checking pressure and vacuuming out build up of dust. Mrs Miggins received her bus pass and is now officially a pensioner with all the perks that such an esteemed position comes with. Probably not a lot but then there are a great many people who don’t survive this very short period called life to reach such dizzy heights. Excitedly, we are going to Whitby on the bus so that she can experience to luxury of a free journey! The trip takes about an hour and is on a very pretty route on the moors road - the elevated position of being on a bus enhances the views/ Art bit - a winter sketch. Hope your day is good to you. I shall enjoy the rest of my koffy and then make up a couple of flasks for our outing.
I love this winter scene @dunelm

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen, I am too much of a gentleman to pry and suggest it is Mrs Miggin’s birthday, but I shall wish you both a good trip to Whitby. Can I suggest you lunch at the station cafe, just avoid the ageing bikers that frequent the establishment.

Blood sugars earlier this morning were a safe 5.6, much much better than the run of lows I have been getting recently.

Today here in Tilehurst Towers part of my day is spoken for and part unknown. I am sure Mrs J will come to my rescue.

Now I must depart to fix the toaster.

As our ex colonists say “ have a nice day “
Congratulations on your ideal blood sugar reading....

I wouldn't accept that fatalistic view either @JohnEGreen

There just has to be another way, but what, I haven't a clue.

The best of luck for researching/finding an alternative xx

Praying for you that a way can be found to improve, ideally heal, the wound through a combination of doing things your own way plus the surgery's facilities and open mindedness to new ways. One hopes they would be willing to work with you because Ecclesiastes 4:12 makes so much more sense.

Here are 3 tries in the Mirror App.

Pretty cold out. Windscreen was iced up...

Retreated to under my blankets when I got back home...and I had a long nap....

Have your best day...

Take care...

Hug for both of you continuing to be under the weather but glad, at least that you are both a bit better. Kiki must be finding it all a bit strange and wanting to sleep with you might be a comfort for her. Perhaps, once she is in her own space again she will be more independent again. Take care and be good to yourselves while you wait and recover.

Great attitude John. There must be an alternative way that your nurse/team hasn't thought of, or are aware of. The wound is yours and you can't accept defeat.

Does this mean that Mrs M has her birthday today, or have I missed it and she has only just received her bus pass? Congratulations to her either way. Enjoy the bus ride. Is it a birthday treat?

Thank you for sharing those wonderful kaleidoscopes in such a clever manner. Staying under blankets and having a long nap sounds like a splendid plan. Obviously even more splendid with tea.

Ah, @alf_Josiah - you can get a bus pass four weeks in advance of the magic starting gate to grey hair and sensible shoes. The Whitlestop Cafe at the station was good for koffy and using facilities but the call of The Duke of York pub at the bottom of the 199 steps was too much.

Ooh hadn't though of the bus ride being @dunelm
"It's on me love" birthday present... ;)

As to the venue, no idea.
As to aging bikers ..:hilarious:
I used to like while tinkering with the bikes through the ages I've had them, how many of those i thought more 'staid' gents would pause & once aware the interruption wasn't a real issue would happily tell me of their own bike ownership & adventures
(exactly what bike ownership is, to me )
& I suspect reliving a moment or two none of their friends really understands or wants to listen to
..soon to be my default position I suspect

So scary aging bikers mmhh ...surprisingly salt of the earth if people let go of the stereo & the typewriter .

Go well @alf_Josiah
The long days ARE coming.
Birthday is next month so I have time to miss forget or is is miss remember :nailbiting:

Morning all correspondents of the Testing Times and those for whom this sums up things well:

where the greater malady is fixed,
The lesser is scarce felt. Thou ’dst shun a bear,
But if thy flight lay toward the roaring sea,
Thou ’dst meet the bear i’ th’ mouth. (King Lear)

. @alf_Josiah good news on the fbg being in a range you need. @SlimLizzy hugs for yourself, Mr Slim and Kiki along with thoughts/wishes/prayers for the house purchase and Mr Slim's assessment of the work needed. @dunelm are we to conclude that today is Mrs Miggins' birthday? Enjoy the bus ride. Thank you for sharing the wonderful art which is very reminiscent of the Fen Washes of my home village on which Fen Skating championships were sometimes held. No ice cricket in my lifetime. Seeing that fitted nicely (in my mind) with this piece I had just read despite my, shall we say mild scepticism, around (almost) all things science and psychology. They had me at Joni M's name in the headline and mention of Blue at the end sealed the deal. Enjoy Saturday but if you can't have a trouble free day identify the bear and the roaring sea accurately. Carbs aren't the deadliest creature in the jungle.
Thank you @ianpspurs but no birthday - bus passes can be issued four weeks in advance of impending jollity

Every day is a birthday with Mrs Miggins @Annb but the official one is probably in February according to rumours spread by her twin sister.
