What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen.

My blood sugars are still a total mess along with the rest of my body chemistry.

I’m running at about 4 dressing changes a week, 1 blood test and 1 doctors consultation.

How I find time to travel to the hospital and doctors I know not.

It’s time form me to go.
Good to hear from you Alf. As usual your post shows humour even in difficult circumstances. Take care and best wishes to yourself and Mrs A J.

7.1 at 03.35 today.

A friend suggested that, instead of lemon, I should add cucumber to my jug of water since it is said to protect the kidneys more than lemon. I'm trying it today even though she also said that she had read that we should be drinking about 4 or 5 litres of water daily. I don't know if that is wise, or would even be possible for me.

Good grief! If you only drink three glasses of water a day, you won’t die. In 1945 the American Food and Nutrition Board of the National Academy of Sciences spuriously suggested that "2,500 mL (2.5 liter) of fluid should be ingested on a daily basis," although a primary clinical study was never actually cited. Since then so many so called specialists have argued about this idea of 8 glasses a day. But, tea, coffee, food, soup, beer, wine, your body weight, temperature you live in, exertions etc., all contribute. Wonder if this 4 or 5 litres came from someone who sells water?

I agree that it doesn't need to be all water - I have always assumed that and have included tea, coffee, soups, stews when trying to reach the 2 litres I saw on a notice at the hospital - not that anyone has ever bothered to advise me, even though I was in hospital at the time having collapsed, I assume due to dehydration (I wasn't told that either but was put onto a drip to get some fluids back into me). However, now that I have CKD (or at least have only just been told about it), I have seen that someone with stage 3 CKD should not drink so much since the kidneys can't handle the volume. However, I can't see any advice about what volume is appropriate. No good trying to get advice from medics - it's impossible to get to talk to or see any of them.

The only medical advice i've had about fluid intake was from a nurse at the continence clinic who complained I was drinking too much. As I was only drinking 2-3 litres I was not convinced. These days I pretty much drink when I'm thirsty unless my urine is dark in which case l drink an extra glass or two of water. I have no experience of CKD though.

Cucumber has less natural sugars and it is a different taste but if you like cucumber it tastes cleaner.
Of course lemon juice has acetic acid and is a fruit, not really conducive for lowering BG levels.

I go through that much in tea.
Does anyone trust tap water?

Not a proper FBG reading today as only fasted 7 hours but a surprisingly low 8.2.

Goes against all advice I've read about not going to sleep on a full stomach??

So frustrated with my body right now!
Allegedly, sleeping on a full stomach is not recommended for so many reasons.
One is dreams.
One is weight gain.
Another is supposed to be making your body work over time with the amount of hormones required to digest and deal with the food.
But what do I know?

You are frustrated but your conscious and subconscious is frustrated with having to adapt to the different approach I think, since finding out about your condition.
Control of your BG levels, can be so frustrating, but you do know that doing so is better in the long run.
Hang on in there. Fasting is very good, if you can.

Oh I can, and often do, fast, but despite being beneficial in other ways it does nothing to bring down BG levels. Unfortunately for that I expect I'll need more medication, as I'm already eating as low carb as I can manage and taking 2000mg Metformin per day.

I've been trying not to eat too close to bedtime but I find I can't sleep without a bedtime snack, and if today's reading is typical, a full meal before bed actually *reduces* the next day's FBG. :banghead:

Tap water is OK here on the Islands, but sometimes tastes a bit chemical (I suppose that's after they've added the chemical that disinfects the loch water). It tastes fine today, with chunks of cucumber in it. Doesn't taste as good as coffee though.
The difference in the water, where you are, and in the city is so different in taste and minerals.
I have drunk clear water from northern Scotland from a stream. It was really refreshing. Much like the lake district. The water here from North Wales, yes, we take their water from them. Is quite hard.
And when I was doing my last job, we had the feed analysis tested and the subsequent results, meant a larger amount of softener, detergent and destainer, for the washing machines.
Maybe that is why I won't drink the water from the tap.
Maybe that's why people are fruit juice and such.

I quite like the local tap water here in Southampton, I like the hardness and it's less chemical tasting than in London.

My parents have a water softener and I don't like their water, whether it's the softness or the trace of salt I'm not sure, although I do enjoy deliberately salted water if it also has lemon juice or vitamin c powder in.

Not my day today and it wasn't last night ... or yesterday, or rather the day before , I got a last-minute message to bring the car in for 7.30 am, an hour earlier... apparently they had a technician available then to service my car. The car was already 42 days overdue for the service because they didn't have any technicians and yesterday was the first day they could offer me. So I lost an hour sleep yesterday morning.

Then I had the fall I talked about stepping up the steps .

Then last night, I go to the bathroom . I had turned the lights on. Fortunately. And I had fallen asleep with my hearing sound processor on which is why I still had it on otherwise I've probably not made sense of the proceedings.

Hurtling out of the bathroom like a cannonball , which is what looked like a solid ball of fury, and if I cupped my hands, it was slightly bigger than any ball like I could hold.

I lifted my left leg quickly because it was on course for that, and it crashed into the room door behind me and then shot back into my old bedroom.

I did not see it as a whole creature and it was definitely bigger than any rat, but a rat can't hurtle itself like a perfectly round cannonball.

Midnight was horrified in the front room and he retreated to the highest possible sleeping space. I sat up in bed but I fell asleep eventually...

I had googled, but nothing makes sense.

And Google authoritatively informs me neither a rat nor a mouse can curl itself into a ball and hurtle at you.

So I had to assume that the creature was safe to me (???), even though I hadn't a clue what it was...

I had to go and get my repeat owing medicine from 'Secret Potions'. I had had another text message saying that they were in and this text heading also said Secret Potions. By the way, I did some research on this because I wasn't happy about a few things. And it turned out that Secret Potions was begun in 1999, according to the government's Business House and they are the dedicated suppliers of medicines to certain pharmacies. And that is the name of their business. But when they bought my pharmacy is not clear, but then I did not read every PDF - there was a whole pile of stuff there. They own pharmacies in Wales and England, over to Sheffield and I think it was down to Stoke on Trent so they actually owned over 29 pharmacies.... it looks like a husband and wife team owns all this or it could be brother and sister.
One of the reasons why I looked it up was because online they say they deliver prescriptions, but when I checked with my pharmacy and I have checked many times before in the pharmacy, they say they don't deliver any prescriptions. So that was misleading.

But when I check further apparently the delivery of prescriptions is a private matter not an NHS matter is the best I can describe it and it cost between £20 and £40 to get your prescriptions delivered but I didn't read any further into that, because you had to click a box to find further details....

There was a lot of services they appeared to offer, but it is totally unclear whether it is under the NHS or whether it is private and consequently costs you a lot. And there was a lack of the NHS symbol.... I'm currently composing a letter asking for a statement of transparency...

Consequently, when I got back from the pharmacy this morning, the day was so hot I was wiped out. But I went to open the two back doors to see if I can let this cannonball of a creature go outside or if I can make it by banging the furniture. I really didn't want to deal with that, but I had to..

I had to open the door from the outside because I didn't want to disturb the middle of the bedroom in case I disturbed the creature further into the bungalow.

I came back in, and went to my bedroom, but as I walked to the top end of the room, suddenly from a shelf at about head height at this point, a 12" x 12" cushion was thrown at me. Just from the shelf and I could see nothing. But exactly at that moment the cannonball ejected itself from that shelf over my bed and through the open door. It never opened out to reveal the creature. I can only assume it escaped. And I very much hope it did.

I have been googling and googling, but I cannot find anything that suggests a rat could do anything like that, but it's too big for that. Then something online suggested it might be a squirrel and it might be a squirrel with a baby to protect.

I'm going to lock up in a minute, and I hope I do not see or hear any trace of it tonight. By the way, by morning it has emptied most of the wood chip cat litter from the sack, all over my bathroom floor.

There is no way I can deal with that today.

Today was spent putting everything back in the car, including my mobility scooter, which took ages, and the rest of the day I just slept.

I should've done all my recycle today and put that out now, but no chance. I am too tired and I couldn't face it.

There are 6 bags and boxes/containers of recycle to get out. And on a good day, I find that far too much. Today I find it impossible.

I will have to make sure I'm awake for 6 am, but as soon as I see the sky lightning, I will wake up and get it out....

Night night....

I hope you had a better day than I did!!!!

Creative, these are some little flowers which I have to try and step over when I get out of the car in my driveway... I took them on my pixel phone this morning.

just take it easy @gennepher, there is nowt that can't wait until you can deal with it all.
you need good rest, and because of the heat you need to slow down enough, take your time doing stuff. I had to wait until the sun was in shadow to do the front garden. Even now it is very nice now that the sun is going down. Perfect for sitting in the garden.s
and I have those purple flowers in my front garden. Good spreading plants. Just now losing some flowers....
gonna try to get to the flower shop tomorrow.!
I had some spaces from early spring flowers.
early bed for me as well
sweet dreams.
my best wishes
