What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Me too settling back at 6.8 Much improved on yesterday.
When it comes to chinese take-aways @debs248 I also find very little info on actual carb values but usually allow approx 60g in my daily calculations which is quite horrendous and probably the worst food choice that passes my lips these days. The one thing I do know is that whatever I choose to eat even avoiding any rice or noodle dishes, spikes my blood by about 6 mmol/l from a daily reading of 7mmol up to 13 or 14 and it stays there for an hour or so or even longer if it is a late night take away. I know it is "devil " food but unfortunately has been an unavoidable event in our social calendar meet up with friends and colleagues. I have tried to get the venue changed but always been outvoted, avoidance is not really an option so maybe I should take a lettuce leaf to nibble on instead.
 
Been away for a few days to Scotland and not really checking bloods. Break was absolutely wonderful and weather was great too. We didn't go too far from home just a couple/three hours drive to around the Dumfries area in Scotland. We stayed in a lodge that had stunning views across the Solway. A friend has been staying with us from London and hasn't really been to Scotland so we wanted to show him around the area. He was in awe of the views from the lodge and the countryside in general and really enjoyed the visit, to complete the holiday, on the way back we called into Pooley Bridge near Ullswater. Sadly from driving on just about empty roads, the lake district, it was a nightmare of congestion and roadworks.

We arrived home on Thursday afternoon but later OH became really tired. We thought it was because he had been constantly driving as we travelled around the area. He went to bed relatively early but woke up around 5:00 am the next morning with uncontrollable shaking and could hardly speak. He was so poorly I had to call 111 (and he let me!) I find 111 so frustrating with all the questions, particularly when you are worried about someone. This time, once we got through the questionnaire, they were brilliant. Told me they would get a doctor to phone me, that happened in less than 10 minutes, after checking what was going on, she arranged an ambulance. Ambulance came really quickly and the paramedics were absolutely fantastic. Said he had some sort of infection going on and needed to be taken to hospital. Arrived at hospital and was seen immediately by a doctor who suspected pneumonia. This was later confirmed through blood tests and an x-ray. He was given intravenous fluids and anti biotics and put on oxygen as his saturation levels were low What a difference a few hours and good treatment makes. By the afternoon he was well enough to go home with an additional supply of anti-biotics and orders to rest. He is actually taking notice thankfully. He is usually a very bad patient. We feel really blessed and so thankful for the NHS.

Thank you. I'm keeping a close watch but apart from being tired he is doing great. He has to have check up in a few weeks to make sure all the infection is gone. Its strange, it came on from nowhere and he was not in pain, not covid as they checked, and even the hospital were baffled so a complete mystery still it brought home to us how very fortunate we were. We could have been stuck up in the lowlands for Scotland with nowhere to stay. Someone was looking down on us.
 
Not really sure what to count as FBG because libre she says 6.1 before getting out of bed then rising into the 7's so unless I start back doing the meter check as well ...I will go for a middle of the road number ie 7.3 ? I managed to stay in the " green" all day yesterday so using the Libre it is very useful if some what expensive .IMG_2408.jpg

5.8 today. The sun is shining but I think we are still under a thunderstorm watch. Had hours of rolling thunder yesterday but no local lightning, thank goodness. Some small fires started in towns near us, but nothing here.
Yoga and abs today. Day six of no carbs…looks like I’ll need to wait another week for any substantial results…if any

I get that with pastry but fortunately not, so far, from any takeaway I've had since testing. I suspect pizza would be equally disastrous.
