What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen.
Are you suffering from an attack of cold and wet weather? Here in Tilehurst Towers we are.
Again I shall not publish my blood sugars, in my not medically trained opinion they are meaningless, but the hospital control how much etc, etc, etc.
I am slowly, very slowly cutting down on my pain killers, but in the surgery where the nurse who was treating my legs and Mrs J started discussing ladies type things I had to put my fingers in my ears. Do I really want to hear about blouses and what colours etc, etc.

The moon, last night did not look any bigger than usual.

Now I am going to sign out, while reminding myself that I must post Mrs J’s latest painting. Also my bladder needs emptying, blasted furosemide.

Had a really unsettling phone call from (supposedly) M&S Security saying that someone had made a large payment from my account to Argos in Scotland which they thought was fraudulent. I confirmed I hadnt made a payment. They asked me to go onto the M&S app to OK Argos's refund back into my Account.

They had all my details so I thought they possibly were M&S. Opened the app and a payment authorisation popped up. But it wasn't a refund it was authorising a payment to Argos.

So I challenged the caller and asked him to tell me the last payment I made on my card. He said he couldn't until I pressed confirm because he could only see the refund to me on his screen.

So I said - get someone else to look at my account and tell me. He said he couldn't. So I said I will ring M&S to check. He hung up

I phoned M&S from the number on my card, on a different phone and they confirmed it wasn't them who called me. They have cancelled my card and a new one will arrive in 7 days.

That was quite scary. I was actually shaking with stress
 
I feel much better now. Actually, Mr K made me feel a lot better . He said that I wasn't taken in by the caller even though they were quite clever and didn't make the usual mistakes that hoax callers make..

Actually it was quite funny. When i called N&S on the number on my card I actually checked they were M&S by asking them what my last transaction was. I am really getting parnoid.

Well done you. It is distressing when that kind of thing happens and you are not quite sure if it is genuine or not, but you did the right thing. Sadly, we all need to be suspicious these days. The thing is, if you do refuse to accede to a genuine request (which wouldn't happen because these organisations don't make those kind of calls), they wouldn't mind because it shows you are security conscious.

Had quite a long discussion today with Neil about passwords. He is very security conscious and was explaining how to put together a really strong password but also that, as far as he can see, given the determination of the hacker and enough time, every password could be hacked. But mostly, a very strong password would be safe because it would take too much time and computer use to work it out. I am going to review all my passwords and get Neil to show me how to set up either a password manager or an encrypted file to hold all of my passwords. Most of my passwords are fairly strong, but I could make them even stronger. My latest request for a password wanted anything between 12 and 21 characters - Neil reckons, using an encrypted file, up to 72 characters would be better. Most of mine, currently, are 10 or 12 characters. Scottish Power asked me to create a password using just three words, which I didn't do. Three words might be difficult for a person to crack, but a computer using a dictionary could do it fairly easily.

Fbg 6.9 for Fri morning

Kaleidoscope
I went out today but got caught in a horrendous storm that threw everything at me weather wise, including flooded roads and rivers of water and some rotten tree branches for good measure...it had been fine when I set off...

I was a drowned rat when I got back home and have been asleep ever since...

And so I had nothing creative to post...

So I made a kaleidoscope...
This is of some A,4 coloured craft boxes...

Well done.
You knew at a certain point something was wrong... and you did the right thing by going direct to your credit card people themselves...
With being deaf, obviously I do not answer any call, but I am getting some very clever text messages and emails now..
