What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

The four weeks flu and cold has come back with a vengeance.
Mrs L is not happy with me.
Having a mornings rant at me.
Ah well.
#4 birthday today and I missed out on a family gathering with this cough, snotty nose, sore throat, sneezing and wheezing, and feeling bloody awful.
Hope you enjoy your weekend if you can.
I'm not!
These fluey kind of things do hang around for ages. Then, of course, your system is weakened and leaves you open to other infections. I do hope you can get over it soon. Take care and try to be good to yourself as well as to Mrs L.

It's been a long, long day today.
And it's on the phone tomorrow again.
Docs, pharmacy, and the family.
Just wish I could stop coughing.
Keep warm my friends.
Best wishes.
The weather is cold, frosty and the stars are shing.

Sorry to say, that Mrs L is back in hospital.
Another infection.
They are really concerned about the falls and balance issues, her mobility.
I have actually myself got some antibiotics for my cough.
Everyone is telling me to take it easy.
Best wishes.

Best wishes to you both. Thoughts and prayers with you and yes, take it easy.

I am so sorry that Mrs L is back in hospital. I do hope they can help her.
Good that you have antibiotics. That should sort the horrid cough

Sorry to hear Mrs L is back in hospital, but she's well cared for and you can get a little break yourself. Do try to use the time to take care of your own health issues and to get some rest. Prayers and best wishes as ever for you both.

Hands are much better now, although still painful, I can use them. BG ridiculously high (12.4) - no idea why. This morning is the first time in many days when I can manage a proper shower - I've turned the heating up so the shower room is warm enough by 07.00. I actually managed to sleep in my bed for the first time in 2 weeks - about 3 hours but better than I had imagined.

Really good that you had a better night's sleep @Annb

Another win, similar to yesterday but a very odd BG - 3.7 at 01.45 but one cup of tea, one digestive biscuit and one glass of water and a 2 hour doze later - 15.4!

I don't believe it - or rather, I don't want to believe it - DIL has bought herself another dog. She found this one online and went on the ferry to Ullapool to pick her up. She saw a photo of this cute, cross bred, female, looking very much like a small grey boxer and the owner also offered her brother for nothing (because the two dogs were used to being together). In the photo he looked to be about an inch or so bigger. When she got to Ullapool, her previous owner was there waiting with the lab sized female and the massive male. The photo must have been taken a year or more ago. There was every reason to back out of the agreement but the 2 dogs came home with DIL. They may be cross bred but to me they look like 2 pure bred Italian mastiffs. Alistair has said that there is nothing he can do to help with these dogs - he couldn't even hold on to the female on a lead, never mind the male. The only good thing is that the dog (Hector) walks well to heel and comes when he is called, although the female (Mollie) doesn't.

I have a bad feeling about this.

Are they neutered. Otherwise she has a problem coming up once the female comes on heat, not to mention the male becoming protective. Your bad feeling is fully justified - she is heading for big trouble with two huge untrained dogs. I am a professional dog behavior trainer, and my specialist area is aggression, and I strongly recommend she gets professional help before anything kicks off - there is likely to be a bad reason why the previous owner has got rid.

They are not neutered. Alistair agreed with me that Hector, at the very least, must be - asap. He will be going to see his new "Uncle Hector" (our local vet is called Hector) very soon. DIL was told that Mollie has just gone through her heat and that Hector was kept away from her while it was ongoing. Can that be believed? I wonder. I believe that the breed, whether pure bred or not, needs to be worked or boredom may lead to aggressive behaviour. My feeling is that Hector needs to be rehomed again to someone who knows what they are doing with him, whether Mollie likes it or not, and that Mollie needs to be neutered pretty rapidly as well - plenty of other dogs locally even if Hector is no longer there or capable.
