What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Been a chaotic few weeks.

Fil still under the doctor's.

Off to see them Monday at the hospital.

Lauren coming and determined to find out the prognosis and expected treatment/s if any.

Difficult days, that just puts other of my moans and groans into clearer perspective.

A simple task really, we unite, we comfort & we knuckle down for whatever lies ahead, as a family .

As always we're not blind but by the grace of god, we travel in hope.

Best wishes all

Good happy Sunday afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen.

Blood sugars this morning were 3.8, 4 yes jelly babies later 11.1 ho hum.

I managed to tick off and item on my bucket list last Wednesday, a visit to Chartwell, Winston Churchills home, I have always wanted to see the brick wall he built. I have seen worse professionally built walls. He was a good artist in my opinion and the modifications he specified for his house showed he had vision and deep pockets. I am ignoring his wartime experiences, enough has been written about that.

Far to many posts to read, sorry.

Hopefully back tomorrow, but one little incident, I was accosted by a young man who’s opening gambit was Good afternoon, then he said can I talk to you about Jesus Christ, to which I replied in a friendly manner “ Good afternoon and no I’m a Pastafarian “ the poor man looked totally lost, so I just wandered away only to receive a stern telling off from Mrs J. Why I know knot. Life, the universe and Mrs J.

It's Wales...if it helps 4 suitcases is my tip.

One marked summer, others marked autumn spring & winter....lol.

Hope the break is all you wish for .

They do say there is no such thing as the wrong weather , it's the wrong choice of clothes that make it so .

Best wishes for a sunny & dry break away ..x
Thank you @jjraak. I totally agree. Only one large suitcase but it is bursting at the seams! LOL :)

Family support is so important during challenging times. I wish you all well. :)

I'd recommend the same, @Annb

Wife's friend had one when I baby sat her cats one holiday...barely touched her heating system.

Bought one for Lauren, best of both worlds really

When she's cold but I'm hot, there's now a happy solution.

Fbg 7.4..ho hum.
That's one advantage of having a partner in your life. I never needed an electric blanket, or a hot water bottle when Tom was alive. Changed days....

Hope FiL will be ok @jjraak

5.6 this morning. Am pleased with that as it looks like i can have a special treat once a week without it affecting blood sugars.

It does help me stay 'on the straight and narrow' for the rest of the week.

7.4 This morning (6.3 on the Dexcom).

My wife and I did some hiking over the weekend and cooked lunch during that, using a couple of freeze dried expedition meals that needed used up as they were close to expiry. As those had something like 90g of carbs each I'm not surprised that my blood sugar is a bit on the high side. The Dexcom reckons I was at 8.4 before eating that for lunch (we'd walked a few miles by that point and my blood sugar always increases when I exercise) then spiked to somewhere over 12 about 90 minutes later then was back down to 7.1 after 3 hours.

I've just ordered some new freeze dried meals and have gone with ones that are lower carb, although there isn't much in the way of actual low carb options for freeze dried camping meals. The ones that have arrived today are between 30 and 40g of carbs per pack, so nothing like as bad as the one I had yesterday.

8.1 at 02.15 today. Don't know why, but there it is.

Been having fun with genealogy websites. AI is supposed to be a help but I just let it run with the suggestions it brought up. It was a long road but eventually (when I stopped to go to bed) it took us back to Methuselah - about 31/2 thousand years before Christ. Also reckons that Joseph of Arimathea was some kind of great uncle and that St Ann (mother of the Virgin Mary) was a many times great grandmother, which makes Mary herself some kind of great aunt, and Jesus a cousin, quite a number of times removed. Yeah, right.

I never have trusted AI. Just supports my distrust.

I'm pretty sure that we do have some long ago Jewish ancestry, but not that far back and not those people.

If it's true, might be handy when the ferry is out of service....

You could just walk on over .. ;)

Okay, okay, I'll get my coat .

Busy day....fbg at 7am 7.4

5.3 at 02.00 today.

Wet outside. Not very warm. Big sweater kind of day.

I don't think I'll try the walking on water bit - I don't like getting my feet wet. At least I have found an accurate record of a 5x removed cousin I didn't know existed, but that was without the aid of AI. Did I mention that I don't like or trust AI?

Good morning everyone on a drizzly start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north - where did that sunshine go?
5.7 this a.m.
Results of recent GP generated full body MOT - all in the green apart from BMI - oh dear, how sad, never mind. A1c at Level 42 - well OK, I can live with that - for a while at least!
Hope everyone is a well as they can be.
Best finish this koffy, I have a train to catch this morning.

6.3 at 08:30 this morning (5.2 on the Dexcom).

I've got a few days left with the trial version of the Dexcom One+, but haven't decided whether I'll continue with it or not. I don't really need it, but find it useful to track what happens after a meal, and I also suspect it'd stop me getting complacent once I get my hb1ac down to where it needs to be.
