Weight Loss and Diabetes

I really need help. I am type 1 since October and managed to lose a lot of weight. I exercise 8 times a week and have cut my portions right down and lost six stone. I was hospitalised due to ketones last week and have put on 20 pounds in one week!!! I am devastated. I am healthy and active. How can I lose this weight? I have been big all my life and now I'm a size 12 but have noticed my new clothes feeling tight. I don't know how to lose this weight and ensure I don't put any more on. Any advice would be welcome. I am so upset... :'-(

Hi there! Hope you are out of hospital now! Have you tried LCHF? It sounds mad but I have lost 1.5 stones so far and I am never hungry! Www.dietdoctonis a good place to start. The blog is written by a doctor in Sweden who specialises in obesity and diabetes. Good luck!

My sympathies! I need to lose 4 stone 9lbs in total but would be pleased to lose 3 stone 9lbs. Ice cream for 4 small helpings is
200g frozen fruit
200ml double cream
1-2 tsp stevia
Whiz fruit in processor till in small bits.
Add sugar and cream.
Whizz in food processor till consistency of your choice.
Quantities aren't precise.
It doesn't freeze.
It is totally gorgeous,
Enjoy!

I am not diabetic. I am also health conscious. For more than 2 years i ve never got sick. I'd like also to share my grandma experience on losing her weight and making her diabetes less problem to her. She, after knowing that she has diabetes. She stopped eating much rice, any food that is sweet and even her milk she did not put sugar in it. Aside that she kept doing it for many day, she also start eating ampalaya. It was bitter veggie but it would help diabetic persons lower their blood sugar. Today, she is back with her normal blood sugar with discipline and consistence. I love her* attitude ^_^

Wow as Victor Meldrew say I don't believe it. I had my annual assessment on March 18th and was told I had to go on Metformin which I chucked in the bin preferring to get a hold of my life, and start eating more healthily. I Hate to admit it but ( but we are all friends here I hope) I had let my weight creep up to 18st 9lbs. I bought some state of the art digital scales but technology got the best of me. So I ditched them for Mechanical ones. They came yesterday. I decided to give myself a chance I would only weigh my self at the Beginning of each month. I was worried to death, said to my Hubby what if all this effort has been for nothing. Well naked as nature intended ( trust me its not a pretty sight lol ) I stepped onto my scales, they are right because Keith my husband never varies. I now weigh 17st 7lbs a loss of 1st if you knock off 2lbs for clothes at the Doctors. I had to step on and off the scales 3 times I thought without my Glasses I had read them wrong. So even if I only lose a couple of pounds a week from here on, I am going in the right direction.

Sadly some of us have no other option. I was an obsessive diet watcher and exercise fanatic. The side effects of the diabetes drugs rendered all the good work useless. I am glad I found EndoBarrier and know it is a better addition to my body than embalming fluid!

Wow! Congratulations @Opalshards .

Can you just clarify for me? Have you lost 1st just since March 18th? That's the same time I started low carbing and I've regained the 3lb I temporarily lost so am puzzled ...and very jealous!

That's right Diana 2 weeks, not cutting anything out completely, less carbs ,Flora probiotic spread instead of my beloved Butter. More fruit and veg , Yoghurt, Lo salt. I only have sugar in tea, I have tried almost every sweetener out there. I am lucky because I don't eat biscuits or sweets. Oh and Hovis seeded sensation loaf. Every other day I replace 1 meal with 2 pieces of fruit or even tinned fruit in juice, or about 5 dates + pumpkin seeds and nuts. Just not being so lazy with my diet.
